Mine:
1. Ride more. Lots more.
2. Do the MS150. And finish it.
3. Get some Ultegra action on my bike. Drrooooooolllll...
4. Sustain 15 MPH as my base speed.
5. Do the ride from Houston to Shiner in May. Beer is tasty. Find a ride home.
6. Start commuting on the bike. (I don't even live that far from work!!)
7. Ride more.
P.S. I want to make it up a hill without feeling like I'm going to die. And also want to leave some certain people in my dusty wake...
I want to do the Austin to Shiner route. DH did Houston to Shiner in 2004 on a Mountain Bike! I have been saying I would do the ride since, but had conflicts both years. :rolleyes:Quote:

Actually the Shiner Bash has 3 routes, all on the same day. One starts in Katy, one in South Austin and one in San Antonio. All roads lead to Shiner, TX though! DH said not counting the BP MS150 (Houston to Austin) it is the best ride in terms of support and fun. We plan to do it this year!Quote:

I have avoided this thread for a while... I don't have much inspiration for goals in 2007, it seems like I did all the firsts in 2006!
But, nonetheless:
- UBC Triathlon (sprint) in March: Work on my speed, especially on the bike. Although I am not a runner, I placed better on the 5k run than on the bike last year. I want to be explosive on the bike and still have the power to run. (I don't care much about the swim for now.)
- Vancouver Half-Marathon in May: I just ran my first 21.1 today, so I know I can do it. After the triathlon I'll intensify my running and I hope to have another strong finish.
- Have loads of cycling fun through the summer, climb big hills, go for long long long long rides with my club and with friends.
- Vancouver Triathlon in September: I am not quite committing to this one yet, but I might do that, sprint distance again, but the swim here is open water and the terrain much hillier. My goal here would be simply to finish.
- Focus on swimming in the Fall of 07 perhaps? Who knows...
I have lots of other big plans for other areas of my life in 2007 so I don't want to put too much pressure on my shoulders for the sports part, which is first and foremost a past time for me. But working out and being in the outdoors does help with stress management, and allows me to eat more... and I love to eat!!
Cool!! I can't wait! I'll keep an eye out for you. Any ride that has all roads leading to Shiner is cool in my book. ;)Quote:

Now that it actually is 2007, anyone else want to get their goals out there?
I just want to ride, as much as I can for as long as I'm allowed to, even if that means on the trainer. But I want to ride as much as I can with my husband over the next few months, because we are going to have a long time when we can each ride separately but will have a hard time riding together (because someone will have to stay with the baby until he or she is old enough to come along). Skills, mileage goals, conquering my stupid clipless pedals, all that stuff: pfft. Out the window for now. After the baby is born and I've recuperated, I really want to take more mountain biking classes, because that was so much fun. For now, I just want to ride until I can't do it anymore.
I've settled on wanting to ride 3500 miles in 2007. Also doing at least a 4 day tour through NY and parts of MA with DH.
Oh, and a BIG goal of mine is to get through the 3500 miles with no major injuries!
My goal for this year is riding as much as possible of the ALC6 trip from SF to LA. Which therefore means another goal is to get in shape by june. I suppose the final goal will be to keep up the riding after the big ride in june as well.
A few ideas-
I'd like to work on (am working on now) speed- time in the saddle -distance.
I want to do at least 200km/wk plus my swim & running (might stop running as i want to improve my swim stroke)
To complete the Karri cup in March...no matter how hot it is..(please don't let it be 38c again!!!)
To do a 200km ride towards the end of the year with Audax (randonneuring australia)
Just to get better at biking really.

DH and I will ride the KATY trail and spend a little while being tourists in St. Louis.
I will bike commute as often as possible.
As for mileage, I think I'll ride the year. 2007 (or more) miles sounds good.
Oh, and some time this year I'm going to ride my age. Fifty-mumble miles will be fun.
