We can do a duet Lise. :D I was 13 when it came out too - loved it. I still have the album and listen to it every so often.Quote:

It's funny that you mentioned it today because I was singing a couple of songs from the album on the beach yesterday. My BIL asked why and I said I don't know, they just popped into my head.. One of my faves is "So, you are the Christ, you're the great Jesus Christ. Show me that you're divine. Change my water into wine..." - and also "What's the buzz?" and of course, "I don't know how to love him". Hmmm, it's making me wanna go find my CD...Quote:

We got to see JCS with Ted Neely and Carl Anderson. It was awesome!
Easter Sunday we were in a coffee shop in Utah and the owner had JCS playing - since he couldn't go to Mass. It was great!
I just queued it up on the Sonos. :p
V.
I'm JEALOUS! There's a lovely tribute by Ted for Carl on some website, maybe a Carl Anderson website...don't remember.Quote:

How about those opening and closing scenes in the movie, where they're getting off the bus, so exhuberant (sp?), and then getting back on, so subdued, and diminished in number...got the chills again.
I don't think I've ever seen the movie.

I'm so not car savvy....:o :o
Ok, I am supposed to be in my car right now on my way to the Perth MTB XC race...Why Am i here you ask? My car won't start for some reason-I called Ian & we tried to figure out what's gone wrong.
Here's what i can see on the right hand side of my dashboard-engine oil light on, battery light on-We think it's flooded but aren't sure. We don't have roadside assistance & will now have to wait for a few hours until my neighbour wakes up to help me out...:( . I'm on hold with the RAC though..
ARGHTHTHTHTHHT...what have i done to our car????
c
What kind of noise does it make?
It either doesn't have a spark, battery is dead, alternator isn't working, or isn't getting fuel.
I am not an auto mechanic, but I used to be married to one! TG for roadside assistance.
Good luck...
Thanks Nanci...:)
Ian & I were on the phone trying to figure out what the engine isn't doing. I can tell you there's no spark in the engine but sounds like it wants to start-if that makes any sense..
I'm waiting for ian to call me & let me know theré's an RAC roadside assistance gent/woman on thier way...
I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can still go mtn biking this afternoon...Otherwise just another boring road ride...:(
c
Good luck, CC. At least you're "stranded" at home. Hope you get to go have fun with your friends.
V--the movie's worth renting. Let me know if you see it, and what you think.
We just watched 50 First Dates. I don't very often watch movies. This one was cute.

I suck at bike maintenance. Bleu is all shiny clean, with brand new Kool Stop brake pads. I can't get the wheels on correctly so they spin. Once I re-fasten the brakes, (v-brakes) the wheels don't turn at all.
I may end up at the LBS...:o
I have never had this problem before - could it be the Kool Stops?
check the centering you did with the quick releases at the axles. My v-brakes go totally ape-sh*t if I turn the nut of the QR differently than the lever. I end up loosening the whole thing, centering the wheel relative to the v-brakes, then tightening BOTH sides of the QR exactly the same until the lever is ready to be pushed.
Then I never touch the nut again except to hold it steady when I spin the lever side to put the wheel on or off.
Edit: I do this with the brakes' release closed so the pads are in functional position.
:o :o :o
K...I'll be your dorkette for the day...I knocked on my dear neighbour's door & asked if he wouldn't mind helping me out. Whatever he did it worked...:o I think i flooded the engine & Í can't remember what else....:o
I'm back from my mtn bike ride...but missed going to the race....
Anyone happen to know good "get to know your car"sites for complete twits like me???
Have I mentioned I feel like a dork!!!!
*dum de dumm..*
c
Lucky you have a neighbot that could help!
50 First Dates is an excellent movie. We watched Failure to Launch last night. It was cute. I just don't get the whole Matthew McConaughey thing. Justin Bartha is a lot hotter.
I'm at work again all day today...
Nanci, are you doing OT??
I had so much fun out at Jarrahdale today on my own. It was muddy & muddier!! We've had some wicked rain/wind storms lately & the track was mushy pea gravel-oh joy! Still spooked by one log over but the rock gardens are getting easier.
Oh before i forget-I startled not one but three kangaroos...I'm not sure who was more startled-me or them (grammar grinch please correct)! I was going to stop & just stare but i thought i'd see them again on my next lap...
I often imagine a conversation btwn kanagroos going like this:(err no i'm not on drugs..but thanks for asking  )
"well billy bob, I was talking to bobby sue today on the trail in the bush about betty when all of a sudden a black wheelie type thing frightened us"
"oh, well, I never. The nerve ."
"next time, bobby sue's said I'm not 'to hop out of the way,it's just not us"
"well dear, I've heard from bart that it's cool to hop away quickly-it's suave"
*steps away from the computer*
c
Yup, OT. Need money for A. Hotel room for Tour de Guava in Tampa Florida Saturday B. Storage shed for motorcycle (actually will have to "rent-to-own," probably, so need first and last payment C. Vacation to Georgia Labor Day weekend (end of August) D. Six Gap Century in Georgia, end of September. Plus I would _really_ like to try that Terry Zero X saddle. And I really want the Sugoi Bella tank, in red. Plus some leather clothes. (for the bike)
Nanci - I agree with you completely. He grosses me out---like he's been "around the block" a bit too much or something, if you get my drift.Quote:

I hadn't seen this color before. http://cdn.llbean.com/products/sport...5986_Bliss.jpg
That's from LL Bean, where they are NOT on sale yet.

I have the black one, with blue flowers- I LOVE it. Must collect the whole set...
Kozy's has the black on clearance- like $31.

I hadn't seen the "bliss" (gray) color, either. I like it too!!
Hi! Just checking in to wish everyone a pleasant day.
It's supposed to hit 97F here today. For some weird reason our pool water is still cool. Very strange.
Have a glorious afternoon!
While searching for wine classes in my area, I found this:
http://www.gmon.com/tech/output.shtml?silly=yes
That's cool.
That's fantastic, Snap. When the "usual" descriptions just won't do....
Elegant but overdone white. Reminecent of bongwater, oily pork rind and aggressive chicken.
:D :D
**still can't get the wheel to spin on Bleu. Hello LBS, here I come.
rank but equally intense Barbera. Contains cheap gin, over-ripe baked alaska and semi-weak Baby Ruth bar. Drink now through 2010.:p
Don't you hate it when you can't find the tool you need???
I am trying to clean up my "rain bike" so I can put it on the trainer downstairs and have another exercise option. But the chain was gross so I ultrasonic-ed it, and now I don't want to put the beautious clean chain on the bike with the super dirty cassette. But I can't find the little round cassette remover thing-y. (I know there's a word for it.....SK?)
DH used it last getting his bike prepped for Death Ride. For ONCE the misplaced tool is not my fault. But darn it I wanted to finish this project up!!
Just got back from a foray into the depths of suburbia.... an outlet mall where NOTHING was cheaper than you'd find at a regular store!
I bought a new cast-iron frying pan. (I ruined a beautiful 23 year old pan my mom gave me. I'll do better this time.)
And.... we went to a Levi "outlet" and found old-fashioned shrink-to-fit button fly 501's! Do you remember wearing those in the early 80's? We were in an 80's mood already because the radio station we listened to in the car was playing all 80's music. So against all reason, I bought a pair.
Dude! I'm shrinkin' them and they are totally awesome! They actually fit! And since they really are shrink-to-fit, as I remember they fit better each time.
And the button fly is so sexy.
Doin' the happy dance because I can still wear 501's after all. (they just have to be the RIGHT 501's!):D
KN, cool about the 501s!
I'm at work, just about to start a 12 hour shift. Got in a 25 mile ride this morning before a meeting, then brunch, the 3.5 hr nap, then dinner with friends. And yet...driving home from dinner to get ready for work, I had this bout of sadness about the lack of partner. Y'all have watched my forays out into the wild world of dating this year...I know it's not over and I'm not dead yet... And yesterday evening I was feeling glad to be single and not dating, because I had time to train! Whoooo...
I remember when I was doing the hardest training for the marathon, I'd have intensely down moments, too. The good news is that I have two ladies here in labor, so I get to stop fretting about *myself*!
Sleep tight, TD. (Except for DirtDiva and CrazyCanuk, of course--get up! :p )
KnottedYet "And the button fly is so sexy."
Better than the Zoiks eh? Well, I've never looked right in 501's :(
Wish I had some Pretty and freakishly evil Semillon. Kicks you with skittle, oaky lamb shank and light ketchup. Drink now through 2008... to drink.
I called the attending physician in from home to deliver one of "my" babies with some minor surgical assistance. He came in, introduced himself to the couple, assessed the lady, agreed with my plan, and left to change into scrubs. He was back in no time. The nurse said, "Wow! That was fast!" I said, "Dr. F. is a triathlete. He knows how to get through transition." This guy's done at least 2 Ironmans (would that be Ironmen?). Changing clothes quickly would be his forte! :p
Mom and baby are doing great. :D
I've fallen off the bandwagon...At the moment i'm training for the 6hr mtn bike event at the end of August...I feel guilty not running however will think about doing the 6km run on friday am...I'll aim to go swimming thurs Am...
I'm 171km off 2000km's...my aim is to do 3300 by the end of the year...I wonder if i could do 4000....It's august & i've slacked off on the km's....
Anywho, good night kids.
Hey you in bed, get up & go biking!
c
Morning all (or evening - wherever you are). I was supposed to go running this morning, but last night our AC decided to stop working. At least we have lots of ceiling fans. I couldn't bear the thought of running and then coming back into a house that was as hot and humid as it was outside. Yick! We keep our house fairly warm, but the humidity was a killer. At least now I'm in my frigid office.
Lise - What ever happened with Mr. P? There's someone out there for you. They might be right under your nose and you don't even realize it. But like you said - think of all the time you have for training ;) Smile :)
Hey, fish, that sucks about the ac. I don't know how I lived without it all those years.
Mr. P.--we had some very tentative plans for dinner last night, but he never called to finalize, so....in the wind? I went out to dinner with good friends instead, which was nice. As I think about it, I realize that they were all couples, which may have been part of the sadness after.
Going to bed now, and I will shut the cats out! They will have their own little ac area, and I'll have mine. If I don't close the door, Isaac will bug me non-stop to let him out to eat grass. argh! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....L.
sleep good lise. don't let the bed bugs bite or the kitties. ;)
