yep, but we couldn't well call it "Chocolate, whine, birds and the Lises incredible adventures" thread" could we?
Just got back from dog obedience class with Mae, that'll be Thursdays through August. Dog is sacked out on the floor, learning is so hard in the heat.
I have no chocolate. I have no wine. I ate the last bird meat for lunch. Not meeting any guys;) .
But my bike is doing great!!
:D
Knot-the-Snot
"I bike, therefore I may drink wine." (in)famous quote ! :D
annie
ooops, no chocolate quotes. Sorry! I am not a chocolate person.
Nor a bird person. So I hope it's okay that I jumped in on the thread. I have to say, this is one of the coolest threads on the board. So spontaneous!
Lise, right before I clicked to the next page, I was going to say, "Yeah, and all the guys Lise meets!"
I called Running Mommy last night, because I watched (finally) the Pirate Remix DVD. I still can't believe it!!! I am so proud of her!!! I was crying... I am so glad they didn't show the people who didn't make it- that kills me. I hope the webcast is better for 2007- that was one of the most stressful days of my life!
Can't wait to go ride tomorrow. I am working OT again Sunday.
I wonder if I do better than a lot of people in the heat because I spend so much time out on the patio when it's 90-95F with the torts and Dill, and almost never turn on the AC in my truck- just drive with the windows down...
Going to be super busy at work today.
...the weather is gorgeous today, 63 degrees, sunny, breezy. I ran my usual 2 mile loop, and it was easy. Felt perfect. When I got to one mile (as previously measured on my bike odometer), I checked my pedometer. It read .87. I knew I went 2 miles yesterday! I had run a different route yesterday, so I couldn't be positive about the pedometer, but it felt like 2 miles (well, no, it felt like 78 miles, really...:o ) Don't know how the thing got out of whack, but I adjusted it. Total of 2.17 mi this morning. It's a big deal, because I haven't felt that good, running, in a long time.
I wonder what role genetics vs aclimation plays in heat/cold tolerance.
Now to shower, eat, and ride to work. What a beautiful day! :D L.
PS: Yep, major weeping watching the IM DVD! Triflor, looking forward to yours!!!
Good morning! Glad to hear you had a good run today, Lise! I slipped in a quick ride before our trip. I rode 12 miles or so. It was super humid so I am nice and sweaty. I definitely am getting some better speed with the clipless pedals! No chain tatoo today either :) I nearly damaged myself getting on the bike, but it *was* 5:30 am. ;)
Nanci, I think you are definitely better acclimated to the heat than I am. I don't always have to have the AC on in the car, but when I ride in the heat I get so zapped. I sweat and sweat and sweat.
Have you had Dan's Chocolates? They're truffles of all sorts. My mom sent some to Mr. Fish for Father's day - yummy!
Heading to the showers and then to pack the car.
I don't really sweat until I stop moving, on the bike. Then it just starts pouring.
I wish I was going to be in Napa all weekend...
Nanci
No you don't - NASCAR is at Infieon Speedway this weekend. Napa, Sonoma -- avoid!Quote:

I've been looking since April (since we got here to Tucson) and have had zero luck. Well I just got off the phone with the manager of the local dive shop and since I did such a good job with the safety diver gig last week...she offered me a job! It's part-time to start but with tons of hours in July and August (heavy dive travel season). My SO and I will be fine money-wise now so I can stop sweating! AND it's one of those dream jobs where I get to work in shorts, sandals, and t-shirt while talking diving all day.
Hey, congratulations!
Nice to see you back. Are you still able to ride early morning in Tucson? You can toss some heat up to Seattle.
How far does one travel to dive? Is there cave diving in the Grand Canyon or is it coastal travel?
Im thinking San Fran looks nice for the weekend 72 degrees on Sunday compared to 103 where I am and 113 in Sacramento.
Now even by Aussie standards 113 is pretty hot.
Thanks!Quote:

Most diving is done in the Sea of Cortez in Mexico, 3 hours away is Rocky Point (so-so diving) or 7 hours to San Carlos (amazing diving). Lots of folks head to CA on long weekends to wreck dive off Sandy Eggo.
Queen, that sounds like a great gig! Congratulations!
The weather says it's 69 here in Chgo right now, but it felt chillier than that riding home from the clinic. Yesterday I was dripping sweat and gasping for breath running in 78 degrees. Who knows!
Enjoy your new home! Lise
I want to go diving! I haven't strapped on a tank since I left Guam nine years ago.
Decided to start running again. Dusted off my Asics and had to dig out my running shorts which were buried under all my bike shorts. Dog will be rather happy to accompany me, since he has to stay home when I ride.
