Kitty think: "Oh, yeah, I own this spot!" :D
Congrats on the new addition to the family. She looks very content to be in her new home.

Lisa, she's beautiful and the spitting image of my Auric! Can't wait to hear what her name is!
Lisa What a beautiful new kitty. She will give you lots of love!
aww, she's lovely! when they slit their eyes like that, it means they like you, so obviously she's happy with her choice of adopting you two!!

Congratulations on your new fur baby, Lisa. She's gorgeous. Let us know when you decide on a name. I hope you find much happiness with one another.
We adopted a shelter kitten after Sophie died this summer. She's been a huge blessing to all of us, including our other adult cat. I was a cat person before getting her, but now I'm becoming completely obsessed. They're just so amazing. I love dogs, too, but there's something about cats that I find utterly fascinating.
I love that picture, Nancielle. He's the feral cat you rescued this summer, right? I take it that he's fully adapted to his new home. He's beautiful.
Yes, he's that cat. :) He and the resident cat (Hunter, aka Widget, aka Brat Cat 1.0) still don't really like each other but for the most part the spats have died down. I keep them separated at night and when I go to work. Later on, when I settle in to watch the news he will start "chirping" then settle in on my lap (after kneading the heck out of my legs first.)
Ghost does enjoy taunting Chloe (the dog in my sig) by running up to her sideways, swatting her nose then running away. Then they chase each other through the apartment. Fortunately my downstairs neighbors are very tolerant because these two sound like a herd of buffalo when they get going.
my three rescue cats used to torture the rescue golden by getting up on the room divider, just above where she liked to lie with her head just in the kitchen, and knock things down on her. "Who us, we're just testing gravity." It got to the point where they were hauling their toys up there intentionally. Poor Tina would just sigh heavily and look put upon. Except when they were torturing and she was being tortured they pretty much ignored each other. Tina could have moved at any time so I guess she figured it was a way of being part of the family.
Animals add such a dimension to our lives. Bless them one and all.
Bleeker- aka is beautiful as is the gray ghost in the recycle box, and every other pet on here.
Congratulations on your new family member! She looks very happy!
These two are the best of friends, though Ringo (cat) would love to be better friends with Rita (dog) chooses to be. He wants to sleep on her, next to her, rub on her, and she wants to be left alone, but he entertains her.
Here they are watching the snow fall, then wrestling, and Rita doing what she loves - hunting muskrats in the creek yesterday.
I went away for the w-end, leaving Calypso to fend for herself, and took Bonnie to the vet (she needs meds 2x/day). So I come home and Calypso is beside herself running all over the house, tagging my legs on the fly by. Then looks for Bonnie. Then comes to me to cry something to the effect, YOU came home, WHERE is Bonnie? Or at least that's how I took it. Then she's off again to kill the stuffed mouse, play chase with her pom-pom ball, and Oh! Look! a paperbag on the floor!!!! :D
Silly cat. :p:)
What would we do without 'em? My cat is soooo lovey dovey right when I get home from work. Then he quickly wants to do his thing again - NOW! (I'M in charge, Mom. Let's get that straight!)
My animals are constantly amusing me. First picture is how amazingly tiny Heidi can curl up. She is a tiny dog but she just looks so little. The other is a really hilarious moment. Heidi was laying on the couch next to my hip, Tortilla was laying on my chest. Heidi got jealous and climbed on Tortilla, where they stayed for at least 10 minutes.
Tortilla put up with Heidi sitting on her? That's one tolerant cat! Very cute pic.
We finally picked a name for the new kitty.... Sheba. Shi-shi or Shee-bee for nicknames. lol
I think that little dog Heidi is looking for more warmth- have you considered a heated dog bed?- I bet that's what she'd really love instead of trying to lie on the poor cat. ;) My little pugs used to ADORE their heating pad beds...especially as they got older and had some arthritis and aches and pains.
I know I'm anthropomorphizing, but I get such a kick out of seeing the disgruntled look a cat can put up :D
Like this morning when I was running late, barged into my sons room and pulled open the sliding closet door to find my jacket - and got this righteous, annoyed and shocked, I say, shocked! look from Lyra who had ensconced herself on the top shelf. "And what exactly do YOU think you're doing here!"
I can't remember ever having seen her scared. Pissed off or fleeing guiltily, but not scared. I love cats.
Nice name, Lisa!
Your cat is beautiful Bleecker. I for one, am a sucker for a cat with a "wild" like... like she is a mini-mountain lion or bobcat so "Sheba", female lion, suits her.
I like most animals but cats are special. Maybe not the most intelligent of animals but definitely the most intuitive and with the greatest sense of humor demostrated when my cat spends time hunting, catching and destroying a Pony-O (hair rubber band). He also likes to tortute me when I am on the computer "No Cat! I can't type when your butt is in my face!!!!" I do some graphic design and hte cat sits in my lap while I am "drawing" fascinated by the cursive's movements.
Cat's really are cool... I can't imagine life without one!
Cute names. A good fit for the kitty.
When my mutt was first getting arthritis I looked into a heated dog bed. I was nervous about an electronic one, felt like electric blankies what if it shorts as she rolls, digs in it etc. I found one that reflects her heat. She seems to love it.
I'll try to get a shot of her burrowing under it. I think it helps. :)
Brat Cat 1.0 has figured out how to unlatch my back door. He also pulled a "Houdini" back in September by figuring out if he climbs the top screen in my front window, it will cause the screen to drop a bit and...voila! freedom!
(I live on the 2nd floor and there is no ledge for him to "land" on...he just dropped 2 stories.) I was a basketcase looking for him. I discovered his little trick when Ghost became very interested in something outside the window and I found BC hanging on for dear life.
I'm also convinced that he knows how to open the fridge & use the microwave.
This is an old picture but it shows him doing something other than sleeping. :D

It was actually quite warm that night, 75 degrees. But a heated dog bed does sound nice, she loves her little sweater when it is cold. The animals are quite prone to these shenangins, they can be a wee bit jealous of onne another. Other times they snuggle, it is quite an amazing relationship.
Lisa, even though I haven't posted in awhile I have had you near in my thoughts. I am so glad to read that you have a new family member. :) Your special new kitty will bring so much into your life and help soothe a broken heart. For whatever reason, they always know when to come knocking on our heart's door and become a welcomed, permanent guest. My best to you and yours during this new season of hope. ~Cathy
thank you Cathy- how sweet. :)
Yes, we believe in adopting a new kitty right away when we lose one- too many desperate kitties out there hoping for a loving home. Having a new one running about definitely shortens the time you can spend in contemplative mourning mode.
Our new kitty Sheba is a feisty little delight, and she and Suki are getting along quite well so far- even eating from the same bowl if the food is yummy enough. :D
At 7 months or so, Sheba is still pretty kitten-ish and wants to chase Suki, and so there is an occasional hiss, but not bad at all! they both sleep on the bed with us, though still maintaining some respectable distance between them. lol!
We already have a couple of funny nicknames for Sheba too...
when she's being 'good' we call her "Shebaby"
and when she's being 'bad' she becomes "SheBeast"...just like my biking tights! lol!
Since I'm computer illiterate, I've put off posting pictures of my cats for, like, forever. DH has offered to help.
The big guy on the white towels is Henry. He's never met a towel/clean piece of laundry/blanket that he won't lay on. The little tabby is our new kitten, Izzy. We got her this past summer at our local humane society. She's a total spaz. The black and white cat is Sophie. She's the kittie we lost this summer. We miss her still.

Wow Indy- such beautiful cats and such beautiful photograph portraits!
I love the contrast between Henry and Izzy's green and gold eyes.
And Sophie's amazing wild whiskers- that photo looks somehow oriental.
Who is the great photographer?
Thanks, Lisa! DH is the photographer. He took all of them but the second shot of Izzy. He's quite talented, if I do say so myself. It's hard to choose which pictures to post; we have so many good ones.
I loved Sophie's crazy whiskers. Gosh, how I miss her. Izzy filled a big void, but no cat will ever replace my Sophie. Here's one more:

oh how I adore tuxedo cats. Never met one yet that I haven't loved.
Here are Thor and Mars (yellow tabby) all grown up.
Wow, indy...another rave for your DH's photography skills. Each of those photographs is striking in its own way. Stunning cat art...and I'm a dog person! :D
Indy--what beautiful photos that capture their soulful eyes. I can get lost in them...
Lisa, time will reveal Sheba's special little quirks that often mimic the ones displayed in those we have loved and lost. It's comforting, really, to capture a glimpse of something that we thought we had lost forever.
Marcie...do your kitties prewarm your towels too?

Kali and her beloved frisbee
IndySteel - somehow I missed your photos before, they are just plain adorable. I can almost feel their fur and hear their purring, the photos are that expressive. I hope to meet your cats someday, they are just adorable :)
Sundial - my gang is not big into prewarming my towels but they do warm my side of the bed up each night :)
Oh lucky you! :)
