Today, we let Maud go to Rainbow Bridge. It was time for our sweet girl. When we picked up her in Baltimore on Columbus Day 1987, I promised her that we would always take good of her and do what was best for her. Even if it was hard for us to do so. We kept that promise today, after she gave us the look that said she was tired. She left the earth very peacefully, thanks to our wonderful vet.
Degenerative Myelopathy is an insidious disease, and it stole my girl's mobility but not her kind heart. She was always a good sport, helped us raise three golden "sisters" and taught them the rules. She graciously gave up alpha dog status to Agnes, whom she joined today and whom I'm certain is showing Maud all around Rainbow Bridge. Now two of my girls will keep St. Peter company. He's a lucky man.
Maud was my first golden, the dog I had to beg my husband to let me have. I was lucky to share more than 11.5 years with this gentle, dignified soul.
I'm so sorry, Mick.
what a beautiful tribute

(((((mickchick)))))) I'm so sorry to hear about Maud.
Mickchick, I'm so sorry. :( :( These dogs are so very special and teach us so much in the short time we have them. Maud tried to stay with you as long as she could until her body just grew too tired to work anymore. They always let us know when they are ready to be led gently to the Bridge and when they do, they take a little piece of our heart with them.
My thoughts are with you and your family and Kali and I both send you a gentle hug.
Mickchick, I'm sorry to hear about Maud. Sounds like a wonderful dog who had a wonderful life with you. I hope time and happy memories ease the pain.
Pam
I'm so sorry about Maud's passing :(
fortunately and unfortunately there are plenty of friends up there for her to play with. You gave her an amazing life.
Mickchick, I'm sorry. Glad you had her those eleven years.
So many cute babies in here!!
This is Frank, our Boston Terrier. He is approx. 7.5 yrs old, we've had him for about 2.5 yrs. We also think he's a mix with a Frenchie, but who knows? He was a rescue and he's our problem child. So many health problems, but he's such a lover.

And this is Gus, our 4.5 yr old Pug. We've had him since he was 6 months old. He's wild and crazy, I don't think he's ever going to calm down!

They took to each other right away, our BT is super submissive, and our pug a bit dominant-they were sleeping on each other within the first night. They love each other :)

p.s. our boston's ear is wonky because he's got severe allergies. apparently as a pup, he scratched himself so much that he broke the cartilage in his ear. he also had his tail amputated right before we got him because it was severely infected (corkscrewed into himself). he was in real bad shape when we got him, but he's thriving now. On daily meds for his eyes and skin, but happy!
Mickchik: So sorry about Maud. Sounds like you gave her a long loving life.
Thanks, everyone, for the kind words. We are all pretty wrecked about it. I keep expecting to hear the old girl snoring away in the living room.
Oh, I'm so sorry Mickchick. I know how agonzing the decision was.
Papaver, I really like your Frenchie's expression. :)
Greycoral, that last picture is priceless.
(((((((Mick))))))))
But know that Maud is welcomed at the Rainbow Bridge in the special TE friend section by many new friends so she isn't alone and there are others to show her the "best spots".
But it's still hard to loose a long time fur baby. sigh.
