Wow Trek - I didn't realize you were Maury's cousin, I missed the original thread completely. I am so sorry, I bet you are right, Kathy would rather have been riding today. Maury posted over on RBR about Kathy's death. The folks over there have been great, very supportive.
Thank you so much for posting that description of the memorial ride. So very sad.
It's so weird, just 10 minutes before your post I was writing in effect the very same thoughts and fears about the pink puffy cloud thing that you wrote. I was writing to a good friend about my terrible fears of eventual death and separation from my beloved DH, when the day comes that something happens to one of us and the other must go on alone and in pain and grief. I cried when I wrote it to her, cried again when I read your account just now. It's a night of contemplation of our mortality and existence.
((((Trek)))) The memorial ride sounded like a wonderful way to remember Kathy's life. I did not realize the history behind it until I read the thread-thanks for posting the link Knot-I had missed it entirely.

Trek and Knot, I hadn't been keeping up on your posting, but as it's a quiet morning, I wanted to say that I really liked your recounting of the ride. I wish I could've been there. I'm glad so many people could come out and pay respects in such a way. The visual of the lone tandem rider is so sad...
...that's as serious as I will allow myself to be today, barring unforseen circumstances. It's my weekend.
X- That was quite something about Helen Keller the other day. I'm guessing braille would be the best way to go. :eek: It's funny. DGF agreed with my feelings on it, too. :rolleyes::p:D
Oh and that link- I keep listening to it over and over again to try to hear all the parts.... so cool... I think the best way I've heard that song is in WI in the "House on the Rock", the "world's only mechanically operated symphony orchestra". Amazing. Very creepy. Flat bars wrapped with leather that exactly matched the saddle...and me out of batteries.

Yes, he is fine. It's really just my inner paranoia, coupled with my mother dying a few months ago, other deaths in my past, reading Raindrop's thread about her brother's death, and reading about cyclists getting killed so tragically. I take it all to heart and it really makes me very much afraid and sad when I think of all these deaths. I didn't used to be so afraid about death when I was single. Now I can't bear thoughts of it anymore. It's just something I'll have to deal with and try to put in perspective.Quote:
