Mimi,
I really liked that jersey and the shorts were awesome. Enjoy the catalogue and the chocolate covered chestnuts.
Poor Jennifer! :(
You need the flu like a hole in the head. Please rest and then more rest. Lots of (non-caff) tea with honey and lots of sleep.
Get well and feel better.
BM3 - sure hope you're feeling better asap. I agree with Lisa - you definitely don't need this... :(
Nanci - how's the mouse staying down??? Crossing my fingers.
Mimi - I've never had chocolate dipped chestnuts. In fact, not sure I've ever eaten chestnuts at all. Should I be trying some?
Nanci - our chickens used to do that sometimes on the farm. Keeping them less stressed seemed to help but it seemed once they started, it was hard to stop them.
I've been searching online for training suggestions for doing a double. There's so much variety out there. Anyone got a site they recommend? I have decided that I'm going to try to train hard for the banff-jasper ride next June and see if I am able to manage to do it, on my own, if not with the boys...
Apparently Erin Hartwell goes to my gym! My trainer said "hi" to him the other night during my workout, but my back was to him so I didn't see his face. Looking at his photo online, I think he might have been in my spinning class!!!!!!
(He is a three-time Olympian and two-time medalist for the U.S., and was the first American cyclist to medal in consecutive Olympic Games, 1992 and 1996 and the first American male cyclist to medal in a non-boycotted Olympics since 1904.)
Also I saw on another forum that Bobby Julich apparently is training near Valley Forge where AG and X and I went riding!!! We could have passed (er ... been passed by) Julich and not even known it! Definitely going to look for CSC colors next time, but will be hard to recognize when I'm going 13 mph and he's going 25+ mph.
Edited to add Marty Nothstein's (track cycling legend) brother goes to my gym. My trainer says Marty sometimes stops by.
OTG - very cool!!! Axel Merckx lives in Kelowna part time and has been known to participate in the local Sunday ride. Course I wouldn't know him to see him... :)
Yarhoo..
2 days until Ironman WA...It'll be a blast!
Littleblackduck & I are volunteering plus will catch up sat some time.
Have a funky weekend kids.
Night riding tonight to do a practice lap for the 12hr..get my lights positioned the right way, memorize the track some more & try not to hit any trees.

Good luck CC!
To some people, chestnuts are an acquired taste. I've been eating them
(roasted) since i was tiny, and I love them. I went to Italy when I did so I could be there for the chestnut festival and I came back with slow-baked ones and raw ones.
They have a mild flavor and they are mealy when boiled, or crunchy when
baked.. Raw, (this is new for me too) they almost have an apple taste.
So anyway, sure, if you can get freshly roasted ones, do try them.
I like how they came out chocolate dipped, I will make more and give them as gifts to family who are not as fortunate as I, not having ever made it to
my grandfather's home town in Italy.
(and I am sure that is a lot more than you wanted to know!)
CC! Go get 'em, kid. Look forward to hearing about it. Nanci, you too.
Nanci, can you post a link to the Steve the Snake pics, or do I have to be a member of whatever site those are on? And has Addy kept that snake down? And, OH, POOR BIRD. I am so sorry about that.
I love roasted chestnuts passionately, could eat them every day if I could find them done right, and have never done it well enough at home---not as good as on the street in Geneva, Paris, or wherever. Mimi, any tips?
Yeah, Dar, it's a funny thing about that "getting inside myself" biz--for a while it's wonderful, and sometimes it tips over into being too far away...
Beeper is still doing pretty well. She does not enjoy the subQ fluid (now trying twice a week only), but then neither would I. Visited three assisted living places with Mom last week when back in Albany. She is also thinking about moving to an assisted living place out here, maybe later, which would be great, actually. Glad the ice is going away here...haven't been on a bike for a couple of weeks. Tired of living in the basement dungeon with air compressors and sawing and hammering over my head and sawdust falling into my hair and my computer. Blechh! Pitooey. But having my own weaving studio, new little laundry room, bigger living room, new master bedroom and bathroom, new little guest room, lots of new windows, AND that porch out into the side yard trees...if they ever really finish...will be great. Room enough for a TD party, even. Preferably in, say, August, since Seattle just broke its all-time monthly rainfall record.
Nanci - how's the mouse? Fingers crossed. Chew Addy Chew (I don't think snakes chew, right?). Also birds, I grew up on a chicken farm. Our chickens used to do that to each other.
I remember something about Dad flooding the area with red light so they saw everything as red and did not get transfixed on one area of blood. Since I was about 5 when my parents quit farming don't know if that's entirely correct.
Can birds, like dogs have those Elizabethan collars?
Mimi - chestnuts roasting on an open fire....
Knot - re Sknot loosing stuff. My sister travels a lot, and the system she learned quite young was to count what she carries.
Say she goes into a room with backpack, violin, camera.
So when she leaves she needs to have 3 things. In with 3, out with 3. And this "system" is what she uses with constant globe trotting travel.
Airlines loose things, not her.
Of course sometimes she gets up: setzer spritzer, pink flamingo sprinkler system and Edsel hood ornament....that's 3 things...but it's still 3 :p ;)

Addy is out and about in her vine- she gets up before it's light- and she appears fine. I searched her viv for a regurge, but didn't see anything.
I had some wonderful Choco time last night. I'd been so busy with the new kids, and Chocs had been so busy shedding, that I'd sort of forgotten why he is the perfect snake. He sat through two episodes of Grey's Anatomy- without squirming- and I put him back to do something, but he was still very active, so I took him out for a third episode! (I'm off today- so I was up till midnight)

They are trying a collar on Roy. I don't really understand why they don't just remove the leg up into his body so there is nothing exposed- like Dill had done- but the vet thinks he could still have phantom pain and eat his abdomen...Dill used to do a funny thing- he'd "scratch" his head with the leg that wasn't there. It's a lot easier for a pea-brained pigeon to deal with stuff like that than a smarter parrot. Dill did go through a horrible mutilaiton phase where he was picking the backs of his wings till he had these horrible scabby bleeding lumps. He did that for months- there was nothing to do to stop him except I could wrap him in a towel and then he couldn't do it. A parrot could just chew its way out. I don't know what to tell her. Thousands of dollars of vet bills- she's missed a car payment, her husband is working OT, she says she doesn't feel like interacting with husband or baby-
I told her just give him a week in the collar and see what happens. It sounds like the vet is going to just quit soon no matter what Kelly wants.
Salsa- I am pleased to hear Beeper is doing better. :) Ooh, party at Salsa's.
Nanci-so far so good with Addy. I hope the collar helps your daughter's bird. I am pleased to hear you and Choco had nice bonding time.
Well all who have snow enjoy it for me, please. It was 57 when I woke up to 50 mph wind gusts and we are under a tornado watch.
Still sick, I was entertained last night with the 1951 movie, "At War With the Army". :D
Rabbit, rabbit! Only 24 days til Christmas!
Have a nice day everyone!
