Here are my favorites in four different counties!
1. Anything involving the climb up Tunitas Creek Road on the Peninsula. You can go down either Alpine or the 84 to get there. Rough pavement on Tunitas; best done uphill.
2. Another vote for the Calaveras out-and-back! NO traffic. Worth doing as an out-and-back, for this reason alone. Gorgeous. ~20 miles each way.
3. Clockwise around Mt. Diablo via Morgan Territory Road. Good for early season, when it's still green out there and not too hot yet. ~55 miles, hilly, rough pavement on the uphill of Morgan Territory Road (which is why you do *not* want to do it counter-clockwise).
4. Kings Mountain Road in Sonoma County. Multiple route options. The one I did was only ~45 miles, but there was a massive amount of climbing; very difficult loop. But it was also the most gorgeous loop I've ever done anywhere in the Bay Area. Sorry I don't have the details - I started near the cost somewhere and went counter-clockwise.
Still on for the 40 miles or whatever people want to do. I don't care as long as I get to go to the bakery.
Eating breakfast, bikes are ready to go...
I've already been out running this morning. A whooping two miles. :p
Are we coming back over Bolinas Rd.? It makes the route about 45 miles, but gets in a little more climbing for the crazy Death Ride groupies.

This crazy Death Ride groupie could use an easy ride today, thanks. :o
You whoop when you run?
An easy ride would be just fine by me. Just sayin'.
I whoop when it's over. :p
Two early four spellin' write.
Veronica
40 miles. 1 bakery. 2 hills.
That would be lovely.
Have fun ladies! (and gents...) I will be with you today in spirit, and maybe in the flesh later this year. :)
hope you all had a wonderful time! I was thinking about you all when the last 15+ miles of my 40 mile ride (with no bakery and beer) were in the 50 degree rain!
Hope you took photos!
