Having worked as a commercial janitor in many types of public and private locations, I can say that when it comes to toilets and urinals, men take the cake (uh, maybe the urinal cake? :p ) for grossness. When it comes to the counter and sink areas, women take it, hands down. Just my experience.Quote:

Alright, you gals are freaking me out about swimming lessions with my 4yo son. At least all the moms with kids were cool about everyone being in some sort of undress. I think the most uncomfortable one was the high school teachers aid that was changing in the middle of all of us:p
My son pointing to the other boy: "you're nekkid"
other boy: "you're nekkid too"
my kid: "you have a weiner"
other kid" "you have a weiner too"
I almost felt sorry for the hs girl:p But all I could think about after gently reminding my son that it wasn't polite to make comments about other peoples bodies, was how far I've come being comfortable in my own skin, that bike tours and communal showers seemed like a rite of passage, and I hoped this sweet young girl would one day be as comfortable in her own skin, in a full locker room with small children of both sexes grinning like me:D
FWIW, as a single mom, my son may be 8 before I let him go in the mens locker room alone. I'm terribly protective when it comes to safety. So no chewing me a new anything, ok?? There aren't family changing rooms here.

Yup - a co-worker used to work out at the University recreation center in the morning. She was VERY pregnant with twins. She said being naked in the locker room was a powerful form of birth control for the other girls. :D:D:D:D
How about not staring down my treadmill and watching the clock on it when there is a 35 min limit and I've only been on it for 15 min. Also, there are 3 other treadmills open, just cause you like this one too doesn't mean you can be in my bubble staring at the screen, huffing anf puffing and making comments about how you'll just *have* to wait for this one. Yep, you will have to wait... over there. This treadmill works with my HR monitor and I'm not walking and chatting on my cell and reading a magazine. I am running hard. Go away.
I send my sons into the men's dressing room at that age. At some point I asked a dad-like type to go see what the monkeys were doing, and yes, they were having water fights and swinging off the plumbing in there. I can only hope some parental type told them to knock it offQuote:

Makes me glad I've never been much of a gym rat... While I used them faithfully back in my Army days, it was pretty much a place to do my push-ups and sit-ups out of the rain.
I'm no fan of treadmills at all. Running or riding, rain or shine, give me an open road, and I'm happy...
I let my boys go into the men's locker room together when they were 8 and 10, maybe 7 and 9. Since I used to let them swim after I taught an aerobics class, this would be their reward for having to stay in the child care room. One time, they were taking a very long time in there, when the superintendent of our school system came out. I asked him to go back in there and find out what the heck they were doing! He reported back that Scott was blow drying his hair and I shouldn't worry. They were really mad at me for having the school superintendent check up on them, but they lived.
I remember feeling very uncomfortable when I was pregnant, in the locker room, with little boys staring.
I really hate them too... but that particular day was a scorcher here in GA and I needed to get a run in... I woke up too late to do it in the am and no time for an evening run. So I was already aggrevated to begin with! That guy was a total jerk about the treadmill. I should have run for an hour just to tick him off ;)Quote:
