I'd be wearing a fur suit if I tried laying on the floor here.

Does any furry creature ever really "need" a sweater? Really? Because my two terrier mixes are perfectly fine lying outside on the lawn furniture at 37 degrees (like now) when they could come right in through the doggie door and sleep on the warm couch where it's 67 degrees! They CHOOSE to be out there in the cold. So do the cats. I just don't understand dog sweaters! lol.

Oh, I dunno, probably not. But it makes me feel better.:p
I'm most worried about Ruby, who has liver cancer and shivers a lot.
My little dog needs one. She has very little body fat.
Big Girl seems to have an undercoat and loves the cold.
I've seen furry dogs shiver on cold days, so I think a sweater is a good idea. Probably depends on the dog. Cockers are special souls who need pampering.
Little Ruby should get whatever the little dear desires.
My old Jack Russell shivered a lot. We used to think she was cold, but eventually we concluded it was a tremor. People would even ask, "oh is she cold?" I'd just say, "no, probably just Doggie Parkinson's or something." One of her close relatives, at my dad's house, does it, too. Probably genetic.

The latest pics of my girls: http://stormyptsisters.blogspot.com/...er-update.html
I guess I'm going to have to shovel a spot for the girls to pee.
This seems to be too much snow for them.
I used to agree with you; but I have a 24 year old failing cat and he got a sweater just recently! He is only warm if he is sitting two inches away from the wood stove. And, I really mean, two inches! Sometimes, I have to push him back cause I'm afraid he's going to burn his little nose.
He is my little hospice kitty and boy does he do some crazy things.

That's a very serious stare! Bolognius Chunk cracks me up!
Just wanted to share. Here's my old man and dearest friend - Zeus just turned 13! He's still pretty spry for an old guy and still loves visiting the nursing home 2x month. I hope we have a few good years ahead of us.
Zeus is beautiful and looks very alive on every level. That's cool that you take him to nursing homes. I am sure it is deeply appreciated. My dog is so incredibly sweet and gentle, I have thought of doing the same. How do you go about it? Just call them up?
Pretty much, lol. They just have to be current on their rabies and well behaved. Zeus has been doing it for over 8 years and was originally screened through a humane society program called Love-a-Pet. Now a days they have certification programs for therapy dogs but here it is only required to bring them into hospitals and schools/libraries for reading programs (being certified covers them under liability insurance). Call a local nursing home/assisted living facility and ask them what their requirements are.
It's wonderful! I really enjoy it myself and I take my son once a month too. Everyone wins! We just have to be a little careful in the winter because it's so warm in the nursing home that we sometimes take a break outside to cool off a bit (more so when I brought my elkhound). I've never had a problem finding a facility to bring him too. Good luck!
Zeus is just gorgeous!!

Zeus is simply gorgeous and looks like a good boy (very dignified). I bet he is a big hit during his visits!
Zeus is one cute boy.
Give him a big birthday hug for me.:)
When I did it with Remy (RIP) we had to be approved by a local organization called Pets on Wheels. They did screening tests on the dog. There were three deal breakers: no jumping on people AT ALL, must take treats gently, and couldn't freak out at wheel chairs, walkers, canes, etc. Then they trained the owners on what we could and couldn't do, basically nothing even resembling nursing care or bringing food, etc, because some residents would ask for that.
It was very rewarding, but sadly none of my current dogs have a suitable temperament.
And happy birthday to Zeus!
Just had to show off my new addition Lillie! She and Lucie (black dog) are getting along wonderfully...I just love puppies!!! Although I forgot how time consuming potty training is...yawn!

How adorable! It's like she's posing for you.
Lillie is such a cutie! I've thought about a puppy but cringe at all the work, lol. I think when Zeus is gone I might be more suited to an older dog. We old dogs have to stick together I guess:D
I can't believe how bummed I feel right now.
I had this guy saved in my favourites for a while, and had assumed he was adopted long ago, as it was a few months ago. I clicked, and he's still homeless. He's older, so it broke my heart that he's still looking for a home.
So I had made arrangements to meet him and to foster him but have been swamped at work these two days so I've not been able to go meet him. So when I called them again to tell them I can't make it til tomorrow, I was told "oh, someone's interested in him".
Good news that he's finally getting some interest, but did it have to be when I was getting all excited?!? I'm happy at the prospect he might find a home, but for MONTHS nobody showed any interest and all of a sudden all this might be moot. I had to cry while driving home because this would have likely ended up as an adoption so I was getting myself all psyched for it.
His name's Hobie, it really suits him.

Badger, I can see why you fell in love with Hobie. It looks like he has a big milk mustache & goatee! Something so wonderful about those white faced old souls, isn't there?
Today starts Noah's 11th year....so it's his birthday.
Technically, I have no idea when he was born - likely sometime in the summer of 1999. But I have traditionally treated Noah like a race horse - his birthday is January 1st. :p
So, happy birthday to my old timer, Noah.
Here...Noah rejects our reading materials. I think he's looking for the cooking section!

What is Noah getting for his b'day? He's a very smoochable bun-bun.
Will he sit in your lap or does he just generally amble about?
I'm just trying to understand having a rabbit. Does he listen to commands?
Enlighten me.
I always thought Rabbits sent subliminal messages to thier owners through thier noses...
