Kangaroo poop? Oh, wait, we nixed that already...:p I saw candy in an airport shop called "Bear Poop". I was going to get it for my nephew, when I realized it was chocolate covered peanuts. He is, alas, allergic to peanuts. But wouldn't that be a great candy for a 7 year old boy to take to school?!?

I had fun meeting betagirl, fujigirl, and songlady for lunch downtown yesterday. It was a very rainy day, but beta rode her bike in from the suburbs anyways. Not the greatest weather for songlady and DH to be tourists in our fair town, but so it goes. Looks better today. Turns out fujigirl and I know people in common through work, and probably even met each other before!

Getting my butt in gear--today I will get to work on time to wash the bike-sweat and dirt off me and be seeing patients on time! Have a great day, all (or good night's sleep, uke and cc!

CC - I can send you some cinnamon roasted pecans or something like that. I'm trying to think of some good things.

Aero bars. Mmmmmmm. Whenever I go to Vancouver I gotta buy a bunch of Aero bars. the chocolates, not the kind you put on the bike...

Meeting was interesting. There was a huge, grandiose, paranoid, bizarre soap opera going on that I knew nothing about. Did you know I'm Satan, Sadam Hussein, Hitler, Osama bin Laden, AND Mata Hari? (jk)

Anyway, i stayed calm and reasonable. Aide threw a temper tantrum at owner #2. Ummmm, you don't do that... not cool.

Came out of it feeling much better than when I went in, and aide was left holding her bag and is still stewing.

Owners asked me several times if I was doing ok, and nearly apologizing for aide's behaviour. Thanked me for my patience.

Fish - "it all works out in the end" is my mantra! How cool to see you post it, too! (corollary is: it may not be the way you wanted it to work out, but it works out)

gotta go get a haircut and visit the bank. I'm housesitting so don't have much access to the computer right now. See you guys around!

Oh, Malbec. I really like that. The one I love the most is Bodega Norton. It's hard to find the ones that there are reviews on, and the ones in the stores aren't reviewed. So it's more of a carpshoot testing them out.

I did something of a brick today. I rode to work (3 mi), saw 1/2 day of pts, rode home, ate lunch, napped 45 min, rode to a work meeting (3 mi), rode another 8 miles, locked the bike in the basement, ran upstairs, peed, put on the ipod, and went out to run. So, essentially, 8 mi ride, 2 mi run. Walked at least 1/2 of the second mile, sweat pouring off me. But my legs felt good. It was my lungs/heart. Keeping on. I have more hope that I can do OK in the tri 8/20. Running. That's the piece to keep working on.

The one on the right is Ian thorpe(thorpie, thorpedo) one of Australia's most decorated swimmers...

I think the gent on the right is micheal klim-another ozzie swimmer-usually does the butterfly in the 4x 100 relay, sometimes with thorpie

Oh, like they were going to come ask us out, anyways? :rolleyes: I had a magnetic appeal for gay boys and gay boys who were soon to enter the priesthood in my twenties. Much money could be made on the psychoanalysis of that, I'm sure. In the meantime...we can look! The swimmers, they have the very nice bodies!

I, myself, was pondering the capitalization of every frickin' word. That is a lot of work. Very difficult to read, too. I wondered--German? But they capitalize only the nouns, not every...well, you know.

We go to TD to complain because we think it's our secret clubhouse. The 16K+ hits, of course, suggest otherwise...:o It *is* a good thing there wasn't an awl handy, though.

I was disappointed to see that didn't actually appear on the license! :p

It is so good to have a picture that looks more like me now. My old picture was from when my hair was about 2" long. I swear I thought I was smiling when they took the picture. In fact, I looked grim and intense, as if someone had said, "Ms. H, there's a bomb in the building. As soon as we take your picture, you must find and diffuse it." :eek: YIKES! New picture is of a smiling woman with long blonde hair. Looks, oh, I don't know...Happy?!? :D

I went to a new dentist today. My, how modern things have become (I had been with my old dentist since I was....oh probably 20) No paperwork, it was all on a PC Tablet (I want one of those!) She had this really nifty little camera, took pictures of my teeth to show me where I need replacement fillings. Best of all - she uses a Waterlase instead of a drill! Woo hoo!

Oh yeah. The Capitalize Every Sentence thread. That was really tough to read. Glad I wasn't the only one it drove crazy. Awl through the eyeball - good description. I felt like my eyes were going to fall out of my head!

Waterlase - I must know more and then move to civilization where they have this technology. I have major fear of the dentist. I haven't been in too many years because I'm terrified of the drill. I've only ever had one cavity and that was as a kid. So the fear is unfounded, but real none-the-less.

Lise - great job on the workout today! How hot/humid is it up there now? Very cool on the license! And - I agree that this does feel like our very own clubhouse, even though there are lots of people looking. Hello out there ;)

Boy, MP got the answer right on this one. I couldn't read it; it hurt too much.

I love swimmer bodies.

kg, my vision was really bad pre-Lasik. Legally blind. I've worn glasses since age 7, contacts since 14. I was reluctant to fiddle with something that I could at least correct with lenses. Becoming an triathlete pushed me to it--it's such a p.i.t.a. to swim with corrective lenses. Also starting to date again. At what point do I take out my contacts? Can't really kiss with glasses on. Can't really see partner without glasses.

Lasik was very scary, but absolutely worth it. I broke up with the guy I'd been seeing for 7 months the week I had the Lasik done. He pretty much initiated it, but I pushed it over the cliff ("yeah, actually, this *is* a break up talk..."). Friends later teased me that once I got a good look at him, I said, ":eek: " and got out! :o It was expensive (~ $4K), but I figure I would spend that much on glasses and contacts in 7 years, anyway.

I'm on call, no one has paged me (knock wood), but I keep waking up to look at the clock. I was dreaming that all these men were posting on TE; they were from the TdF peloton, just passing through. I'm not watching it at all--I have crap cable--but I'm reading the Postal Bus book Nanci sent me. Chicago has some little areas of street in which the bricks were never paved over. I rode on one of those today for about a block. Made me think of the races on cobbled streets he writes about.

Back to bed, perchance to sleep.

I finished the new Stephen King Book, Cell, last night and had related nightmares.

I am not the friend in Florida who wanted to send Lise a knife.

Lise, when you have Lasik, the reward you get is not having a restriction on your DL! (I wore glasses since sixth grade, then soft contacts the second they were invented, and had Lasik when I moved to Florida, like 1999?). It was the first DL I had in my life that didn't have the glasses/contacts restriction.

Don't buy that Postal Bus book, BTW. It really sucks. I mean, it's better than _no_ TDF book, but just barely.

I have a new one coming in the mail, though, form the Driving School Shopping Spree.
