Thanks mimitabby! This is a good place to be. (There's noplace else I can gripe about pedestrians with a death wish without somebody secretly thinking "I'll bet she's one of these insane cyclists that never stops at lights"...;) )

Brand new to TE... Well, lurked a bit, but just recently got a new bike after not having ridden in YEARS (maybe about 20 or so... yikes!), so here we go...
Real name: Jen

Fastest speed on a road bike? Hah! Haven't ridden since high school (or junior high), so I have NO idea. Just trying to get used to riding the mountain bike around, getting used to the clips, and not worrying so much about speed right now. :D

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: Told a few to the parents back in the day... don't really remember. :p
Most memorable moment on my bike: When I was a kid, we didn't have much in the way of money, so two of my bikes were a bit... special. One had no left pedal (and it was so old, we couldn't find a pedal for it anymore), and my next one had handlebars so loose, they'd flip around, but it had a sweet gold, metal-fleck banana seat. :D
Most fun ever had on a bike? Just riding around as a kid... Lots of fun. :)
Nice to "meet" all of you!! Not sure how often I'll post, but it should be fun here. :D
I've been an astronaut since age 11.
Just haven't told many people. Tho' I did have a woman play Cmdr Spock to my Capt Kirk for 15 years and the job I just left I was Spock to his Captain. Now he is "Jim" as we are in contact tho' not working together anymore.
That is how I know so much about the fabric of the Space/Time Continuum.

Hi all,
I'm embarrassed to say that I've been in and out of lurkdom here for several years. I'm generally a quiet sort who listens (and reads) more than she talks, but lately I've felt like chiming into some of the threads. I didn't want to do that without saying hello and introducing myself first.

Most memorable moment on my bike: Good memorable - finishing my first century - Tahoe, 2003 for Team in Training. Bad memorable - feeling myself being sucked into the draft of a passing semi in southwestern PA while on a multi-day tour in 2004. It was a two lane highway with no shoulder. He couldn't pass because of oncoming traffic. When he did pass, it was *real* close and he blew his airhorn at me. Scared the crap out of me and as soon as I could pull off the road, I had a complete meltdown and bagged it for the day. I did ride the next day and completed the tour though. Philadelphia to Pittsburgh in 6.5 days.
Most fun ever had on a bike? My first Cinderella in 2003, which was also my first organized ride. Great way to start.

Hello again everyone! I fell off the planet...
I did the NYCC training series in the spring, got turned down for a job with Backroads, worked 6 days a week in the summer then worked in Italy for 3 months without a bike (nor funds to get one.)
I'm back in NYC and althought I really like NY, I think the timing is right for me to move on back to San Francisco. I spend more time looking at webcams of SF than out in the hustle 'n' bustle of NYC.
I look forward to finding friends in the cycling community there!
If anyone in the city is looking for a roommate for Feb 1, please let me know! :-)

Hey ladies,
I'm a newcomer on here. I enjoy long walks on the beach, picnics, comfy keyboards, my teva flip flops, and good bread. lol...wanted to say hello and hopefully I have a lot to offer everyone on here. I'm a Cat 4 racer, this is my second year racing AND riding. I've done a lot of research in nutrition, training, weight lifting, and physiology. Let me know if you have any questions directly otherwise I'll try and add as much to these threads to "share the wealth". :p
Have a great day :D
Orion - I grew up riding. I rode for about 10 years until a stupid car accident that prevent(s) me from riding anymore. My 16th birthday present was a full lease on the sweetest TB in the world who was an ex-race horse. I leased Willie for about 4 months and then my accident. I was soooooo freaking pissed.
The experiences that I've had with QHs is that their such smart asses. They're extremely intelligent and have way too much personality for their own good. One had to have like 5 locks on his stall door because he could get out of anything...nicknamed Houdini.

Hi, I am new here, too! I am just getting into cycling as a way to liven up my fitness regime. I have been lifting weights and doing mostly indoor cardio for about 20 years, and really needed something new to do. My husband has been riding for a couple of years, so I have decided to join him on the road.
My husband bought me a Blue (that's the brand and the color!) RC.4 bike for Christmas. It's a great bike and probably like buying a Lippizan horse for a cowboy! It's light and fast and I like it a lot. I just need to get some miles under my belt, as I haven't ridden a bike on the road in about 10 years.
I have been reading the board and am impressed by the comaraderie, as well as the variety of riders here. I look forward to spending some time here as well.
Have a great day!
