The photos seem to have been taken at a whole lot of different times. If you scroll around the Thames you can see a join. It's pretty obvious - low tide and oddly clean looking on one the left and high tide and normal muddy colour on the right. Oh, and there's half a plane at the join... :p
I'm on a Mac, too, and I still get no map. I'm using Explorer. I will keep trying.
