Yep, I always log my miles, too. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to ride much lately. Like Mimitabby, I'm also on the 2500 mile challenge. As of now I'm just shy of 500 miles for the year. I've got some catching up to do, but I know I can do it. Just have to get back in the saddle....

i have never been on bike journal. I've been racking up the miles lately maybe I should help out.
Just checked it out and started entering my miles.
Yep, I log fairly regularly. I just broke 1000 miles for the year this past weekend and I feel pretty good about that considering my work schedule and an injury in February. :D
I actually let my computer keep track for me, and then when I get time, I catch up my bikejournal journal. Though I will say that lately I've been keeping better records at BJ because my DH and I have a little unofficial competition going. He usually wins because his commute is longer, but if nothing else, he keeps me logging! ;)
I post my rides as soon as I get back, but you would be bored reading my journal; that's because I don't write anything except the weather and maybe if i feel really bad. I just don't want people reading what i write, so I don't (I mean people I don't know, not you guys). I don't mind people looking at my miles, though. It's just a number.
I don't count indoor miles. I am also a purist. I just started counting the puny amount of miles I ride on my "commuter/errand bike" which is not really my commute bike, since it's so heavy, i ride my road bike.
My journal just has the miles.
I'm so pathetic that I generally enter my miles while I am still in my sweaty bike clothes. :o
Then I enter them again on Beginnertriathlete.
I am in the BJ 2500 miles race too - trying to catch Mimi. (You don't need to ride to the gym Mimi. :D )
Wow! Who knew?
I added up what I could definately account for this year and I am nearly at 1,000. I never would have guessed all those 2's and 5's would add up!
I'm dere...but i only have 4236km's so far for the year. I'm trying to keep up with you ladies over your summer!
Í want to know what the top 5 riders at BJ actually do for a living! To be at 15,000km for the year would mean they'd be retired? Someone please explain..
Anywho, i'm just aiming for 10,000 for the year. It seems far away though.

I often wondered what they do, too. Even if they are retired, they must not do much besides riding. I rode 3,000 miles last year; my goal was 2500 and the mild fall allowed me to ride a lot more. Now that I won't be working after NEXT FRIDAY, I am not sure how much more I will ride. I probably will do more errands by bike, but even if I do the 2 regular club rides twice a week and long rides on the weekends plus a little more, I am not sure how much more this will add up to. I have 3500 as a "sort of" goal in my head, but at this point, I think I would rather get faster than ride more. I'm at 1,055, which is about 3 weeks ahead of where I was last year at this time, because I've been commuting a couple of days a week.
Winter is tough, especially if you get snow and/or ice. There are positives about winter riding, i.e., finding yourself having the trail either to yourself or with other die-hard, trail rule savvy athletes. ;) Acclimating to the cold, riding in the dark, etc., is the real challenge but that's a temporary thing. Once you figure out the right layers/"keep warm system," you'll be fine. You might consider investing in winter cycling shoes, too. Well worth the investment.
I have to admit that I feel indignant when the warm weather folks come out of their toasty caves and start crowding/behaving badly &/or unsafely on "my" trail. Anyone who slogs it out there in 20 degrees w/wind chills even lower should have emminant (sp?) domain! LOL
You can do the 10K. I just takes determination and discipline.
