Last January I was in Florida, near Largo, for a conference. I went for a run, and came to a park. At the entrance, people had dumped their Christmas trees. The smell was unbelieveable. My Grandma had these little "balsam pillows", stuffed with pine needles. I would hold one up to my nose and smell and smell it. This park was like being inside a balsam pillow. I just stood there and took the deepest breaths I could. What an unexpected delight.

Other lovely smells--Aqua Velva (Grandpa), Brut (my first boyfriend). I agree about Noxema, and Cover Girl makeup! They were "grown up" smells--when I first got to wear cosmetics. That rich, warm cow/horse/hay smell of a barn. Apple pie baking. Someone else said pot roast. The smell of Lake Michigan (in a non-alewife year!), and very differently, the smell of the ocean.
