Not a problem, the roof on the older part of the library is taking on the characteristics of a sieve... and it rained last night.

Ohhh. Eeek!
I was about to say "At least they're absorbent" but I suppose that's not quite an advantage in this situation.
How are you all doing, today? I've got OT Tu-Th this week so this is probably one of the few moments I'll have on here all week. :(
Hey, just to give a heads up for any of you looking to get a bargain... I have 5 pairs of bike shorts that I'll be putting in the FS section soon. I uploaded them into my netbook so I can send them from where ever since I have the OT this week. They are all mediums and that seems to be a sought after size. All are next to new or brand new. 2-PI, 1-TYR, 1-Descente, 1-Zoot. I'll do my best to get them in there soon. 1st come, 1st gone so just giving you advanced warning. I want to measure the inseams and padding so I can give better descriptions but then, they'll be posted. thanks. :)
Dealing with tennis issues all day; people having trouble registering for sectionals, teams defaulting at the last minute on a slightly snowy morning, drama queens, control freaks, etc.
Finally, someone emailed me to play tennis tomorrow. yeah I just want to play tennis not mess with all the politics!
I am trying to keep my promise to me today to ride my bike after work! It is hard to stay motivated, it still isn't very warm and it is kind of windy! I am just a weather wimp in my old age!
I was good today!
I did an hour on the trainer. Not all at once, but I was watching a show on the science channel and stretched/drank/made dinner during commercials. Now for homework... yayyyy...
oh and my brooks b17 saddle's for sale if anyone's interested...
I finally saw a real brooks saddle and a lugged steel bike on Sunday. I instantly thought you TE.... :D
Oooh - just got my new frame!!! Mercian, steel, lugged - blue and green. It is going to be fun to build this up. (My rando bike has a crack in the seat/top tube weld. I will do a 400k on it this weekend, but it really needs to be retired to a permanent spot on the trainer.)
Pics to come, but not soon. Too much work and not enough time. :)
SadieKate was instrumental in the design/color choice.
We're picking up a 1971 Raleigh Sports for my SO tonight, lugged frame, beautiful detailing, just needs some serious TLC. Really looking forward to working on it with my bike buddy.
I ate lots of dust this evening at our dirt crits...apparently the dust wasn't as bad this week . Tons of fun & am confused about how i missed a few sections of the trail .
I'm regretting all of this OT now that I'm in the middle of it. Last night, I had to be the lead too. What a mess they left us. I'm glad I'm off the hook tonight. :D
Spending today doing drawings of a 'moderne' looking lunchbox from 12 different angles for the patent application.
Tonight, we go to a friends' house for dinner and playing music. Fiddle, banjos, Swedish tagelharpa, goat hoof rattles, and tambourine! :D
Tomorrow, gotta shade all the 12 drawings, then show a friend how to hammer together the wood frames and wax foundation for his first beehive.
I keep thinking I want to learn a musical instrument, maybe cowbells?
Lisa, I'd love to see that "moderne" lunch box!
Just got it home and it going to need some work. The previous owners mom bought it new in 1971 and they NEVER put oil in the hub, now they say it won't stay in gear. They paid a guy to fix it but it still does the same thing... I'm thinking WD40 in the hole to loosen up the old grease???
oh, that could be a bad idea if it dissolves the old grease. It'd be better to just open it up and clean it thoroughly to see if there was significant damage from running unlubricated.
Busted Chloe dog out in back, eating lemons that have fallen off the tree. My dog is weird.
She has good taste. :D Ach, I still can't think about drinking Lemon Drops though... :p
It was suggested by some internet Raleigh guru, wd40 to loosen it all up then add some oil. I'll have to wait to see my buddy to open it up though, not a clue how to do that. Well, more truthfully, I can get anything apart... just not necessarily back together again. :p
Oh! Well, I won't supercede a guru. :D Carry on!
Happy Wednesday! It's an easy downhill coast from here to the weekend!
Got my work email down from 178 to 97. That's progress...
Happy hump day.
I've been thinking about work email, it would be GREAT if they could design the email system so when the sender hits submit the email returns to them in a few hours without actually being sent. If they still think it needs to go out, then they could resubmit and it would go to the recipient. Should cut down on the endless stream of silly email I get... and if anything was really important, they could call me.
If it won't stay in gear, it probably just needs an adjustment of the cable tension. It also could be that if it was ridden alot without oil that parts really are worn inside. First, I'd just oil it and play with the cable tension and see if you can get it working. Pull on the cable by hand and see if you can find 3 distinct gears. I have disassembled Sturmey Archer 3-speeds, but it's a big job. There is a thread on here somewhere with pics of all the innards. You can find adjustment directions on the web.
Deb, your comment about the Sturmey Archer 3 speed brought back memories of my first real bike (I had Schwinn before that), a Raleigh. It was black, with a generator light, a bell, and the curved bars, with a Brooks saddle and saddle bag. I rode that bike up huge hills in Newton. It really irks me that I don't have it, because apparently, it was stored in my aunt's basement until 1977 or so, after I left it at her house. I think I actually may have had 2 of these bikes, because I grew after getting the first one...
Thanks Deb, I'll oil and play with the adjustments, shouldn't be able to do much damage with that. :p
Most fun thing about this is my SO; when we met she was a cyclist, rode centuries all the time and was really into the sport. Since I wasn't (I was into scuba back then and she doesn't "do" water) we both drifted away from those passions. This Raleigh seems to be rekindling her passion for bikes, she's really excited about researching it and helping work on it... very fun time.
well, gals, I survived fort Lame. (more like I survived O'Hare airport)
Now to rewrite all my geographical details:eek:
I made aside trip to the Bike Museum in New Bremen, and bought a Vera Bradley Handbag at Fort Wayne airport.
Back to my day job tomorrow, thouigh
Great idea. Heavy sigh. I triage email throughout the day on my phone, but there's always so much that has to be dealt with, filed online, actually responded to, when I get back to the office. I should not complain. In this economy, the business I started on my own last year is crazy busy. And that is a very good thing.
Ahhh Pax, that'd be a beautiful thing.
but the airfare was soo cheap. and I wouldn't get there at 11:45. PM, like I would going thru DFW. of course, I got there at 11:35. saved a whole ten minutes (was supposed to get there a t 5:45_
I have a lot of ...interesting memories of O'hare. Glad you made it through more or less intact!
Heading to bed soon, here... Gotta get up early and get brighteyed and bushy tailed so I can go to the OR 'til noon... then I get to go to the school and torture... er... no... encourage...yes... encourage the new recruits.
:D :D  They really shouldn't allow people like me to be in positions like that. :D :D
Fort Lame??? Can you give me more info on that...i googled it & didn't get any valuable links...
I need to ask....If you donate your body to science, do they recycle you each time for medical students or are you only used once??? I've always wanted to know but was afraid to ask.
