Ok, so I'm easily amused, but I find it kind of funny when people wear clothing prominently displaying some sentiment they don't seem to have chosen themselves. Or "random crap", as my son would put it.
This morning on the metro I sat facing two people - one a conservatively dressed, shy-looking woman in her thirties with long brown hair, a little careful make-up and a worried look. On her nondescript black jacket, embroidered in pink on the shoulder pocket - "Notoriously breaking own rules."
Next to her a large and fierce-looking young woman - I think - a bit hard to tell as she was deep in a large black fur hat with ear flaps and a huge scarf. Belligerent posture, crossed arms, wide legs. On her nondescript beige jacket the logo "BG" - "Baby Girl".
I really wanted to lean forward, tap them on the shoulder and suggest they switch jackets :D
X!!!!! :D :) (((X))))
Nice to see ya round kiddo! Yup, work crap can wear ya down BUT you're a way cool n strong chicka and am sure there's a loverly job out dere for ya! Not sure on calling the boss..I don't know hospital politics and wouldn't want you to find out the hard way that you shouldn't :o
Are the wierd dreams good or bad :p
I'd trade you our crazed blue heeler for de kitties but i don't think our other loverly doggie would appreciate it. Can kitties have too much catnip? Ya gotta get dem off de goooood stuff ya...:p
X!! Good to see you. Good luck with the job search!
I am so sick of my internship. I am maintaining barely enough clients to make my hours, though I know I will have enough. I just want to be done.
I realize that I have learned a lot and I love my new career. But, I am not looking forward to returning to full time work again for at least 2 years (required for my license).
Six more weeks.
... never too old for senioritis ... ;)
Yeah, first I had it with the actual course work, but now that I am actually working on my last paper (the biological basis of anxiety and alternative treatment, focusing on yoga and mindfulness) and it is going well, that went away.
I am going to a job fair on 4/22, so I am focusing on that, to rev me up for the job search. There are a couple of places that always hire new grads, but frankly, they kind of suck... especially when I've had clients tell me things that verify what I hear through the grapevine.
What worries me is that I seem to have a pattern of getting sick of my workplace, kind of easily... not the actual work, but more the culture of the place and my colleagues. In the past, i dealt with this by focusing on my outside interests, i.e. cycling and before that teaching at the gym. Working part time seems to eliminate the "getting sick of" thing, so I think it's really more about having a balanced life at this point. Unfortunately, if I work half time, it means twice as long to get the hours for my license. I sort of would love an 80% time job, just to give me a little leeway. Of course, it may just be what my dad says... I am a perpetual student!
Hang in there Crankin, time flies and it'll be over before you know it! :o
I gotta draw a really weird lamp patent from 7 different angles this week- why are 99.9% of lamps so damned FUGLY ?!? Not complaining about having the work, though- it's great to have work!
Nothing blooming here yet except crocuses...yet my honeybees are finding some pollen from somewhere...I see them bringing it in on they little leg baskets. :p I'll be raising some new colonies from that hive this summer- yay for baby hives! :D
Guess I better pump up my flat winter bike tires sometime soon and get off my lazy butt now that it hits the 40'sF every day.
Hey X! Good to "see" you! I don't see anything wrong with giving the the old boss a call, he may be super happy to hear from you.
What herb did Kit try for sleep? I found valerian helped me, even though it smells like socks.
RedR- most hives won't give honey enough to take from until their second year- and this is the second year for this hive (another will be a first yr hive)...so I'm hoping for some honey by this coming Fall...if my luck holds...knock on wax. lol
don't knock on the wax too hard, it might upset the bees.:eek:
Valerian = DIRTY SOCKS! We used to have this growing in our yard. One of my nieces, when she was quite young, brought some in and put it in a vase on our coffee table. Everyone that sat down there with my niece started accusing the poor little girl of having really stinky feet until we figured out where the smell was coming from!:D
Ahhh, off to fix Kit's car. It left her sit by the side of the road the other day on the way home from her clinicals at the hospital. It was just the alternator. She had it towed through a tow service that the police told her to call. They charged her over $200 to go 4 miles!! (turns out, it costs extra for the kickback to the police when they are involved) Then the shop calls me the next day and tells me that it's going to be $600 for the new alternator to be put in. ???? (an alternator is usually in the range of $150-180) So, I added the roadside service to our insurance yesterday, (my fault for not having it on there to begin with) we will have it towed home today for the premium of $13, and we have an alternator from AutoZone for $180 to put in ourselves today. I won't go into what I said to the shop guy when he called me "missy" on the phone as he was telling me how hard it was to do this, thus the $600 bill. I just showed up on my Harley, paid the $50 for the diagnosis (which is free at any AutoZone and most other parts places, just so you know) and told him it will be gone tomorrow. (today) I did add that I work for the largest employer in Portland and he won't exactly be getting an endorsement from me.
Time for an adventure we weren't planning, once again. *sigh*
X! Welcome back! :D
Yes she is hot, isn't she :p :) :D and brilliant. I was just up there, she'll be down here in a couple weeks. My job at the antique store cough cough is being an absolute Richard Head about any transfer/promotion/movement. I've read somewhere it's bad form to post about your current job especially whilst seeking another somewhere else even in the anonymity that is our very own TE TD. So I will spare you all the details at least publicly. It's tough but I remain cautiously optimistic.
Wow. It works and we fixed it! We still like each other, too.:D:D I need a nap.
Brilliant! I somehow left that out. I apologize. She truly is brilliant in marrying you, among other things. :D
I often forget about the brilliant bit. It's easy to just get dazzled by the beauty. :D Enjoy your nap.
Hey ladies!
I was using an herbal tincture with catnip, passion flower, valerian and chamomile in it. It was pretty potent and really made me tired, but I could never get to sleep right. I suspect part of it is just having a lot on my mind, though.
We never did get to nap... it was too close to supper time so we went out to thai (mmmm Zeb thai!) and maybe later I'll show X the commute route I've plotted to school. I haven't really been riding in *mumblemumble* so I'm wondering if it's necessarily wise to jump into a 5 mi one way commute... I hadn't really commuted before to this campus because I either had work right after class (too far to commute there/back/up the hill in a timely manner) or it was the first and 2nd term of the program, where literally everyone stops running/jogging/eating right/sleeping right because there's just so much going on.
Ladies, I'm gonna try to get my groove back. :P
I've missed you gals, and I miss riding a dang bike. Stupid knee.
Hey Pax! We've missed you too. Bummer about your knee. :( :( Hope you're finding other things to keep you busy.
Hey Pax...i'm sorry about your knee. I hurt my shoulder this winter and it's so slowly healing- amazing how much such things can curtail your activities.
I did a 3 hour contra dance last night- wonderful full body exercise that's never boring.
Today I finally got back on my bike after this dreary winter and did an easy 6 miles to ease my rear back in gear slowly...Spring Sitbone Soreness isn't much fun.
I was surprised I made it up our steep hill without any major trouble. Nice to get back on the bike again, and nice to feel my legs burning afterwards.
So nice to see updates from people in here again!
I got out on my bike for the first time today - it's been a loooooong winter...
Good Monday greetings
The few days I took off my bike came back to haunt me yesterday in the first few km's of dirt...:( I didn't come off but it took me quite a while to warm up. Being awake whilst mtn biking is just a weeeeee bit important
PAX! I didn't see you there! How did I miss that?! How're you?! Sorry we haven't been on TWF much, either... you know how life is...
Trying to find a shop locally that has either pentosin chf7.1 or finishline mineral oil... my hydraulics have a leak and need bled and the fact that Shimano charges 'bout the same whether you're buying 50mL or a quart doesn't sit right with me.
I got nothin'. I wanted to post something, but... eh.
didn't even try, did you?
I have something.

(c)Rob Lang photography, whomever he is. I was just looking for a nice bike but that works, I suppose.
Oh well, if you want to go that direction... :D:D:D

ha! but he does manage to look pretty good on those rails to trails trails... the windswept hair, the sweat, apart from the fact he's obviously color blind, he's doing pretty well. :D
