Nanci - have you thwacked any residents/students upside the head yet?
If you have it in Louisianna, there must be a way to utilize the parish prisoners! Building a bunkhouse? Airport taxi?
I haven't had to whack anyone yet. We had a horrible morning- nothing straightforward. Much puking and diarrhea. Another word I can't spell, like CDA.
I think you spelled it right.
I'm hoping I'm in Louisiana by the time MP is allowed back on her bike so we can have this reunion.
I'm still waiting for the call. We've all been guessing that he'd call today or tomorrow at the earliest. Thing is - I'm reaaaallly bad at waiting. I'm trying to work on slides for a talk I'm giving in St. John's Newfoundland in a little over a week, but I'm having a hard time focusing my mind. Can't you tell - I keep posting here. I have to think .... strain comparisons....gene expression....yah - that's working...
Hmmm. Centrally located. Major airport, direct flights...it's beginning to sound a lot like...CHICAGO! Although we're not so great on the bike paths, but I'll bet I could recruit beta to conjure us up a weekend's riding. And it's flat (you will now forget every time I've whined about the wind...you are getting verrrry sleeeepy....) :p
I am eating the opposite of U.K.E.'s chocolate: Veggie noodle bowl and shrimp spring roll from Whole Paycheck, er, Whole Foods. Stopped in on the way home from work to get a few more chocolate treats for CC, and the box will be in the mail tomorrow!
Nanci, who was it that you PM'd about how we don't usually have flame wars? The instigator?
I am so wiped. I'm going to take a nap.
MP: Aahh'll be baahk?
:D L.
Anyone notice how all Lise ever does is sleep? Or talk about sleeping?
HA. I heard that. Because I talk about sleeping far more than I actually sleep. Life of the midwife. I wish I didn't need to sleep. I really do. I could do it sometimes, like going to the movies, but I wouldn't need it to sustain life. It is so hard for me to fall asleep and stay asleep sometimes. That said, I really am going...you know the rest. L.Quote:

Hee hee - that sig is better! No explanation required :)
I PMd the girl who originally wrote the question. Not the instigator.
You can't talk about your conversations behind our backs if you aren't willing to share!
I'm going to pout.
I think there is a sub-thread going on here about MP's Arnold signature. And I told someone (Lise?) in this thread earlier that I had PM'd the How Slow Am I girl and told her that we _never_ have flame wars and aren't really like that so don't think we are please, or something to that effect.
There probably have just been 200 posts here since the last time you checked- this thread can move quickly when Lise is awake.
Nanci
No actually it was Trek 420 I told I PMd HSAI- because she had somehow managed not to see that thread last night.
Oh good, Nanci. That's nice to hear. I was really upset in that thread, but I bet you couldn't tell, huh?
I think there were about 200 posts in the time it took me to ride to the TT course, start, flat, and ride home.
Lise, owner of the fastest fingers in Chicago.
SK - it was moving super fast last night. I would post and then have 10 more to read and then 10 more would show up while I was writing mine. Craziness! You know - it did start to slow down when Lise went to bed.....

uk elephant "somehow I ended up with a big bowl full of yummy milk chocolate (Galxy minstrels) and licorice allsorts."
how'd that happen? I hate when chocolate just jumps in there.
I'M AWAKE! I WAS PAYING ATTENTION! YES! I HEARD EVERYTHING YOU SAID!
No, really, I'm up, I'm up.
You GUYS! I'm going to have a call shift soon when the pregsters don't let me sleep for >24 hr, and I'm going to...well, tell you about it later! So there! That's what I'm going to do! Because I'm going to be too busy working to PM you that I'm still awake at 4 AM, etc... Recently I fell asleep while trying to write a note in a patient's chart. It was like those post-lunch classes in college, where your notes sort of trail off the side of the page...I had to finish the note standing up, so I wouldn't fall asleep. Needless to say, I'd been up for something like 26 hours at that point.
Ah, but that was a refreshing nap just now. No wierd dreams. Not on call again until Sunday night.
Nanci, I'm glad you PM'd the original poster.
I do have speedy fingers. Those babies can be slippery, y'know? You need to be able to move fast. :p
That's a good one!Quote:

Wait a sec, I thought this thread was about Lise's DATES, not her sleep patterns! :p :DQuote:

Oh, yeah. Well, I'll report back later tonight. I'm being a good little triathlete in training and NOT riding my bike to volleyball, today being a "rest" day, and all... See you all later. L.
PS: UK, thoughtful of you to save the ice cream. We all have to do our part.
And yes, Tater, when we're not talking about pigeons or chocolate or wine, I'm obsessing about why the guys I like don't call me back and the ones I don't like won't go away, and in between I'm scheming about when I can get some sleep, and oh, yeah, I should go for a run, crud, when was the last time I did any swim training, this is a triathlon board, after all, oh, heck, my beeper just went off....etc!
Now! I'm going to the podiatrist now! L.
Some Green & Black's chocky icecream jumped into my shopping basket tonight. I'm all sugared up and ready to give MP the first tow. :D
Yeah, but you'd probably dump her in some holly bush. She'd be springing leaks right and left.
Who is AL???????? What is his movie?
I am more attracted to the thought of licorice than milk chocolate.
Lise, I think Peter Reid would enjoy a TD pillow fight- maybe that's a way to get his attention!!
I think my ride is rained out. I just got home with chicken chow mein and a bottle of Bogle Petit Syrah (love) and a bottle of Cooper Mountain Pinot Gris (never tasted yet, organic, but I tend to hoard my PG- so who knows when _that_ will get drank drunken drinked is drank right?).
In the fridge is a partial bottle of Florida local cream sherry (why did I not respect my aunt for being a sherry drinker sooner? Why did I think that was an old person's drink?) actually still leftover from the hated-salmon- it's too potent to drink every night, and the horrid Toasted Head Shiraz- I don't want to ruin my pipes by pouring it out, like I did with the glass I had- I'm not sure what to do with it- age it in the fridge, I guess, and an unopened Florida native red- very sweet, foxy, one of my favorites, and the new Bogle. (If not refrigerated here, a room temp red would be 80 degrees!!)
Hopefully it will clear long enough for the torts to go out and graze.
SK- did you miss in the frenzy last night that the board of directors took a vote and decided the Fagalo Volcano should be awarded a consolation prize for speediness and creativeness, although not the correct answer? The CP has not been selected yet, but PM me if you would like to claim it.
I responded but Lise was probably hogging the conversation.
I obviously wasn't memorably obnoxious enough. I'll try harder.Quote:

My brevet cards came back all certified or whatever they do, from Paris today. Also three of the four medals. (The 200k is delayed). They are _gorgeous!!!!!!_ I have to take a picture of them when I rescue the camera out of the truck when it stops raining.
Medals: The medals noting the successful completion of the brevets are: a bronze medal for 200 KM, a silver-plate medal for 300 KM, a vermilion medal for 400 KM, a gold medal for 600 KM, and a silver medal for 1000 KM. The design of the medals will change after each PBP.
Wow! You going to have them framed as a set?
Al has a movie??? I had not heard this.
Hershey's kisses (as awful as they are) have been jumping up and waving their little tags at me all day.
Heading home...
We really need to do a TE TD get together! Some more chocolate pie ought to get me thoroughly sugared up for a tow of MP in the trailer. ;)
I'd kind of like to frame them. I have that one picture of me, at 300 miles, that isn't absolutely disgusting- I even allowed it to be published in the club newsletter. Probably I should wait until I get the Super Randonneur Medal (for the 200,300,400,600 series) and the R12 Award that I am working so hard on.
I missed that whole Fagalo Fagalo Fagalo post. That name fits him so well.
This is more like my usual picture- the guy who took it, Rob, the group leader, calls it "Cactus Dance." I was picking cactus leaves for the babies, trying not to get stabbed by something on my way back out from the bush. If there is any possible way to look dorky, or fat, or have a stupid expression instead of a cute smile- someone will take a picture of me doing it!
That's awesome! I can't wait to see the pics!Quote:

Wow Nanci - I really like that picture. You look like you are dancing, and your hands are in sort of a dainty pose. Very cool.
Excellent about the brevet cards. You must make a display. I should have ordered the 600k medal. That was dumb. Oh well. Next year.
And SK - what exactly do you think I would be "leaking" from the holly bush? Blood from the anti-coags or tequila??
