the Haz-Mat team is here right now cleaning up the apartment next door. My entryway looks like a staging area for a quarantine.

I'm eating lunch as fast as I can, then I'm gonna spend my day off in town. At the bike shop.
I hope all this is done before SKnot comes home.
Yikes Knot - am I mistaken or didn't that "incident" happen some time ago? Why are they just here now?
Before I moved to Florida, a guy I knew that worked at the medical examiner's office was starting a clean-up company, and hiring people for $100/hour. I was sure looking forward to that part time job...
I wonder if they're going to tell the new renters what happened. They should- they'll find out.

Maillotpois-Congrats on the half-way point! I wrote in the thread how you are my inspiration. I will be brave and tell my neurologist I plan to train for a tri. He will freak out.
KnottedYet- sorry about the Haz-Mat team being next door. Hopefully they are finished before SKnot comes home.
Not much new here. I faint too often for my liking. It is the d*mn medicine to make my vessels all happy. The neurologist failed to mention that part. He could have mentioned it when he banned me from driving. So, no biking outside-fainting and outdoor biking are not a good mix, at least not for me. I have my trainer in a nice, safe place. Usually I know right before I am to pass out. So far, so good.
On a happy note, my Ibex hat arrived to day and it is lovely. More of an eggplant colour than fuchsia. It is very soft and a cheerful colour.
BMo3 - thanks for your nice comments. There are lots of folks here who are overcoming health hurdles (strokes, cancer, MS, clots, whatever). If we can inspire ourselves to keep going, we'll do great!
And tell your doctor about the tri. Maybe yours is a little more normal than mine. Mine's super sedentary. She just doesn't get it - like she didn't get the breathing problems I was having all spring (which turned out to be PEs). My loss of pulmonary function is perceptible only when I am pushing at a level that she really doesn't get. I suppose I'd have to have had exercise physiology sorts of testing to measure it. It's not like I would be out of breath climbing the stairs - but pushing fast on hills was where I'd have trouble. Hard to replicate or describe to someone who's not an athlete.
That fainting stinks. How long are you on these meds?
Thanks for the pep talk. Most of the time I am okay with my new diagnosis, then I have bad periods and feel sorry for myself and worry about the future and not seeing the boys grow up-yes irrational, I know. :o
I will be on the CCB for awhile, quite possibly for a long, long, time. I am hoping my body will adjust to the medicine with time. He also mentioned blood thinners. Right now, it is just aspirin and the CCB. He wants to see the test results on the 18th before giving me more medicine.
Keep the inspirational stories coming, everyone. And feel free to give me a good swift kick in the rear whenever I begin to feel sorry for myself.

BMo3 - Hang in there. I think periods of feeling sorry for yourself are normal. At least I hope they are! :cool: I went through a whole weekend where every time I saw someone riding a bike I started crying. Deadly here because there are so many cyclists! But it may even be therapeutic to occasionally step back and realize what's going on, how serious it is and remind yourself how lucky you are.
Well, I hope you don't go on blood thinners, or maybe a lower dose. And I hop you adjust to this medicine you are on. But seriously, sit down and talk to your doctor and find out what he thinks about riding, tri, everything.

I don't know why he did it. One of the other residents of the building said she'd heard it might've been someone else who did it. Police never came and talked to any of us, so I doubt anyone else had anything to do with it.
Several of my errands remain undone (all post office stuff is in the apt) and I won't be working on Flossie's new tires (got 'em!), bell, pump, or computer today.
I'm in a funk because that was such a horrid incident and it's not done yet. For the folks involved it will NEVER be done. Bad stuff in the world. But it's a beautiful day and the library has a nice view of the water and islands and ferries. So I'll look at that for a while.

No, really, fainting while zooming along on the bike would not be good. Fainting while swimming might be in the "bad" column, too. Running? Well, that could be inconvenient, too. Good that you can ride your trainer and get off before you faint.
Get one of those "iron dog" ti tri bracelets and have something inspirational engraved in it to keep your enthusiasm up. Then when you do your first tri you can get another one with your time in it. Maybe pass your inspirational one on to someone else who is working on their first tri.
YEah, look at me, retail therapy! You've got a hurdle on the way to your tri, I tell you to do *more* shopping! (the Ibex hat sounds good!) My apt building has psychic cooties today, so I go do some bike-goodie shopping!

boy, try to remember that this treatment is temporary!! If my batty aunt can handle it; you can too. Then you get bragging rights for the rest of your life.
Knotted, I had no idea that it took THIS long to clean up after a suicide. how awful for all of you in that apt complex.
on the other hand, you get extra extra points for helping our fellow TE gal to get her bike to the shop!!

Thank you KottedYet (love that name!) the idea of retail therapy is a good one! I will do a tri, maybe many more. I received a card in the mail for Team In Training and plan to sign up. I will need to travel to compete, but I am so ready to begin. Yep, Will clear it with Dr.V first.

Sarah- I went to your Team In Training link, which made me cry, but in a good way. My first rretail shopping therapy begins with you! When you get a chance, please let me know more about Team In Training as I received a flyer and card to return to sign up for a meeting in either October or November.
You know my student, the one who has to memorize the six venomous snakes of Florida? He made a miraculous catch of a fainting patient today. I am so proud of him!!
Here's a picture of Fagalo. I have had him for almost a year, and never taken a picture of him. There's a reason why- he is very non-compliant! All he does is spin and run away- he barely pauses for a second!
