It's not just there...I'm in customer service for big-mega-telco.-co. and our calls are mostly from throughout a Blue State.
I've told my manager one of these days she WILL get a report of a "customer mistreat" because I'm going to tell a customer exactly in no uncertain terms what I think of them when they say they:
are moving out of CA because there are too many ____ here or...
want to change their number because someone ____ had it before or...
the problem with this country is there are too many ___ s.
"those aren't my calls on the bill, it's listed to Mr Garcia, I don't have a gardener" "Mr. Moron his reference information says he's a proctologist, maybe he called you because he found your brain and you were returning the call?"
and...when they ask where I am I've simply stopped saying I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area because then they talk about the _____s
for some reason in the anonymity of being a stranger the phone some feel that everyone shares their moronic viewpoint. My response is usually shocked stunned dead silence, then I wait and see if they pick up on it, most don't.
Someday I'm just going to let it fly "sorry that you feel that way about imigrant people, that's a very interesting Native American name you have m'am. Since your family has always been here what tribe are the Van Vonderportens from?"
We're a nation of immigrants, some of us came here voluntarily, some not...but all different.
