No help yet - still waiting on the promotion.:mad: I've gone as far as to check out what my pension would be if I retired next March -- about 50% of what I make now. Liveable, if I leave California.
I'm hoping this is just an extremely bad patch right now, I've got too much invested in this place to start over somewhere else. If I can stick it out for only 4 years and six months...........:eek:
Snap - retire in March and come to Seattle. Ok, seattle is expensive, but come live on Whidbey Island. A quick ferry ride to the mainland, or a long drive up the island and over a bridge.
Got the campy brifters off the old bars, and the old bars off Flossie. Oh, man, what an exercise in PATIENCE. I said "bugger" a few times, and with gusto. (my favorite swear word) Especially once when I nearly gouged Flossie's paint!!! :eek:
Got the new bars on, which was an exercise in spatial relations. I very carefully looked at the bars, figured out which way I wanted them to end up and which end to start on, fed them through the quill stem gently, and promptly put them on backwards!
Got the brifters on. Now I think I've got them where I want them: I can reach the brake levers from the hoods and from the drops.
Now I'm taking a coffee and chocolate break. Next step, tightening everything down, taping down the wires, then wrapping the bars. Then I'll go on a ride to LBS #1 (30 miles). They said they'd check my work and be sure I did it right and had things tight enough but not too tight.
Mmm, life is good. Bubba is coming home early for a bike ride and the SB ordered arrived. The gold Jamaican bar leapt out of the box. It must have been feeling very claustrophic in there.:rolleyes:Quote:

I would call it a very rustic Nibby Bar with a rough texture and cane sugar overtones. Very interesting. Nibby Bar lovers will like it. Woo! Today's my day! My interview went *really* well. Apparently I'm one of 3 final candidates, and the gent I was interviewing with said he "Continues to be impressed with [our] interviewing experiences" hehehe.
Biked 10 mi to my optometrist and finally got fitted etc with Ciba H2Optics (I think?) the softer of their 30 day wearers. So weird. Lenses have changed SO much since I've last worn them (which wasn't THAT long ago; really!)
Now, seeing that I'm not wearing glasses anymore, I'm going to eat, clean up, drink a little and then head back out another 6 miles to the nearest hair place and see if I can't get trimmed a little before DGF comes home. =D
This is my favorite swear word too now. I never swear much, but sometimes "bugger" is the only fitting word. Especially to desribe annoying people. BF has been trying to teach me how to say it in a proper Northern English accent, but unfortunately I'm not good with accents. Apparently I do say "actually" in a Liverpudlian accent though. Made him go all misty eyed when I said it once. But I am trying hard to resist sounding too English. It's not really working. I've already converted to saying rubbish instead of garbage and occasionally slip up and say tomato (insert English accent) instead of tomato (insert American accent). Maybe I should just go back to speaking Norwegian instead. It's about time BF learned the language anyway....Quote:

We checked out Roux today - lymph nodes in neck seem to be reduced to normal size (or at least we cannot feel them). He is looking good so far!
Does anyone have any idea why sometimes when I hit an apostrophe or other non-letter character (like backslash) that Firefox puts up the "find" box at the bottom and will not let me type. It is positively maddening! I feel like I am talking like Data. It does not do it every time, just some of the time.

I just made the most delicious and easy meal. Trader Joe's frozen Veggie Pad Thai in a bag + broiled salmon. Good, crisp veggies, tasty sauce. Salmon--fairly cheap pieces from Jewel (I know, should be wild caught or something, but I live on the edge), with soy sauce and sesame oil, broiled 5 min/side, mixed in with the Pad Thai. Delish and good for me, too.
And, going to nap before heading in to a night shift. L.

About 5 minutes after I post my "my interview went well! etc" thing, I got a call- apparently, they chose someone else, but I'm at the top of the list in case things should 'not work out' with her refs, background check, etc. Yay?
I got bummed and went for my hair cut (ok, I think I look cute w/o big ol' glasses on my face) and got back to hear another message on the machine- apparently another advisor is looking for an assistant and is conducting interviews, so the guy I was interviewing with said "She's my next-in-line, but if you want to hire her..." so she should be calling me soon. Yay?
I was bonking hard because between the long bike to the optometrist and back, and the heat, and not bringing enough water, and the stress, I wasn't eating enough, so I came home, made myself a huge sub and grabbed a cider... so everything's good now. :D Contacts are weird. You never know how much peripheral vision you're missing out on by having glasses, until you wear contacts. Ugh. I'm going to go take a nap... Put me down for 26 miles today on a pretty heavily loaded mtb and remind me when I wake up that I need a lighter rack. This one was cheap when I got it, but prolly weighs about 4#. :eek:

Yay for new routers! I'm back in broadband business. :) There was too much Drift in my absence to respond to everything that went on over the last few days, so I'll just stick with this one question:
Why do you all have to spend so much time talking about chocky when I'm totally PMSy and about five minutes walk from a supermarket, cafés, etc.? Huh? Huh? :rolleyes: :mad: ;)
