Thread Drift

I'm on-call today. Some days I work my butt off, non-stop, for 12 (or 24) hours. Then there's today. Started off briskly with 5 phone calls from patients, but none that needed to "come in" to the hosp yet. And then....almost....nothing....all day. Thank goodness L.A. came along to up my adrenaline. :rolleyes: You may rub all this in if I whine about how hard I work on my next shift. :p Problem is, I don't get paid if I'm not "in house" (in the hospital). Having just used up 80 hr of vacation time, I want to conserve the remaining hours. I get a pay-out of up to two weeks' unused PTO at the end of the year, so I want to be sure it's there in my bank!

So, here I sit, the big health care conglomerate paying me to surf TE and answer the occasional page. It can be a gooood life. But now, I am going home! Back on again tomorrow night for a 24. Will the quiet hold...? MWBR. :cool:

I'm in the depths of the most incredibly passionate crush! Like a teenager! Huge obsessive crush! I can't stop thinking about her! I look at her, and she just seems to sparkle. She makes me laugh out of sheer giddy happiness. I could spend hours with her, a whole DAY with her, and still want to spend more time with her! I can't imagine ever being bored with her company.

When I want to ride fast, she doesn't mind going fast. When I want to putter along and admire the view, she does, too. A ride with her is the highlight of my week. I don't want it to end.

I touch her, and I can just feel my body temperature rising. She makes me sweat, and gives me chills. She makes me weak in the knees (or is that the tall seat post?). She sends tingles up and down my spine (or is that the short stem?). She makes my hands shake (or is that the 42 cm Cinelli bars when I really need 38 cm "Short and Shallow"?)

The ride today was stellar. I have some things to work on (bars, stem, tape, core strength, shoulder strength, self control) but then the fit should be just about perfect. I need to learn to STOP when my neck and scaps start spasming, though. But riding was such fun! But I hurt so bad right now. Too bad I can't teach the dog to walk on my back...

I can almost see her lithe, gazelle-like frame moving in effortless grace. From the delicate, ladylike curve of her handlebars to the smoothness and infinite curiosity and intricacies of her derailleurs... her smooth, strong crank arms...

Beta- I'm working on coming up with the TD Drinking Game (for your new hobby).

To do it, you need to have a group of people (at least two, anyway) and switch off reading post-by-post.

Everytime Knot mentions 'Flossie' 'Waterford' or deletes an entry, take a drink.

Every time I make a comment others are too intelligent/polite to, make a know-it-all comment or use the "...", take a drink.

Every time Lise mentions a date, take a drink.

Every time Nanci mentions Choco or Maizey, take a drink.

Every time Chick who Rips has a near-death or a "THAT'S SO COOL!" experience, take a drink.

Every time Bruno writes something that 'sounds' Scottish- take a drink.

KN, so happy she's so wonderful! And you get to improve her, without her ever whining that you're trying to "control" her and wanting to go to couples counseling! :p If you could train the dog to walk on your back, you'd have a serious money making side-job there. PT Dogs. :D

I have a new crush today. She's a Stihl MS250C. She started every time I needed her today and roared like a banshe (especially when I forgot my ear protectors). She sliced through 8-9 inch logs with ease. And used less than 1 tank of gas. She is a might heavy at 13 lb and I had to carry her for 4 miles. But if she starts every time, I won't complain about a little weight. She has an innovative starter with a spring coil, so that when you pull the starter cord you are winding up the spring rather than spinning the cylinder. So starts are always consistent. Now her chain is ready for some sharpening, and I'll take care of her soon. And give her plenty of bar and chain oil.

Sounds a lot like my dad's Husquevarna. Does your Stihl have any built in shock-dampening bells and whistles?

I think they all have shock-damping bells and whistles these day. My old Husqvarna was really tempramental about starting. Sometime I'd carry it a mile up the trail and then it wouldn't start. That was the pits. It lacked a starter coil spring and it got flooded easily.

:rolleyes: Sounds like the Mini Mac Dad taught me on. Funny, he got the big one with shock dampers etc... I got the little devil that didn't always start, etc. Sure as heck taught me how to use it, though. ;)
