How'd the ride go? I did my usual 15-mile ride at 6AM and it was already getting uncomfortably warm when I finished at 7:15. I'm thinking that tomorrow, I'm going to have to start by 5:30 AM, so that I can finish before the sun really gets cooking.
I rode a few mornings ago and left before 6:00 a.m. and it was so much nicer than trying to ride in the heat of the day! I'm going to start making going to bed early a priority so I can get up and get my rides in!Quote:

We started out by going back behind the park to get in some hills... it was absolutely gorgeous back there... WOW!!! Then we took the bike paths towards the coast and ACG and I went with Mike up Newport Coast road... of course I was very slow but it wasn't too difficult. Nina and Alex went with Pam around the hilly area and we met up at a coffee shop for a break then headed back via the bike paths. Per Mike's little satellite thingy we did 44+ miles and about 2000 feet of climbing so it was a step up in difficulty from the first ride.
Brandy, you would definately get lost trying to find your way in the first section; I had NO idea where I was or which direction I was going! I'm sure you and Tiff will whip up those hills though ;)
Anyway, it was great to meet you ACG, thanks for coming out! Nina and Alex, I hope you had a good drive home and have cooled off! And, Pam, thanks once again for the great ride - be sure to tell Mike how much I enjoyed riding w/him and appreciated the water at the end BIG time!

Sounds like you had a great ride! Tiff and I are planning a hilly ride on Thursday. It should be around 50 miles with 2000 feet of climbing. I'm hoping to start before dawn (did you hear that my friend????? lol) since we're starting off in Back Bay and then on the San Diego Creek Trail for the first part. I'm hoping, hoping, hoping we're done with the climbs on Santiago Canyon Road before it gets blazing hot. Wish us luck!
Hot schmott... you ladies are such wimps! right cali???? Okay, just kidding, it was pretty darned toasty today!
That sounds like a good route Brandy! I'll expect a full report w/pictures!!!

I had a great time, because I was surrounded by a great group of people. The hills would have been easier had it not been so hot. Can we do this again in a few weeks? :p
you tell 'em trac!!!!! lol! come out HERE and ride if you want hot! i started at 6 this morning (25 minutes later than i wanted to) and it was already warm!)Quote:

Hey...I've always admitted to being a wimp in the heat! There's no shame in that. :D
I posted a quick ride report under July 1 rides.
Hopefully we can get together again soon. Unfortunately all my Saturdays in July are booked with TNC mountain bike rides but I have Sundays open. Could also do a early morning or afternoon ride during the week.
Brandy you and Tiff plan on doing Santiago Canyon? Good for you!!! I was thinking as part of my Cool Breeze Training of doing some early morning rides through the Canyon as well. Starting from my house, up Jamboree and then maybe just going to Blackstar Canyon Rd and turning around and repeating the hills.
I have to say I hate heat. Just hate it. If not training for Cool Breeze, I would probably just be doing spin classes, indoors, where it is cool!
Pam (everyone!)
Are any of you open to evening rides? How is OC around 5pm?

Let's see. I didn't go to bed until 2:00 a.m. because it was so bleeping hot in my house upstairs! It's been staying warm here pretty late the last few weeks.Quote:

Jen,
I almost called you last Thursday to go to BJ's because I stayed downtown SD Thursday night. The only reason I didn't was because I thought it would be too short of notice - originally I was set to get there around 8 but then at the last minute I ended up getting to leave early and got there at 5 or so. If I don't pass the test, I'll grab you for dinner next time!

I'm always open - went out last night about 6pm with Richard and Wayne and it was glorious out. Got so cool I got chilly. Didn't finish up until about 8:15 just as it was getting dark.Quote:

Hi girls, Just getting on my computer today. Thanks for the ride on Saturday and your patience!! The HEAT, the HEAT!!! I'm definitely a whimp in the heat. I was just watching stage 3 of the TdF this morning. They said the air temperature was 99 degrees F, and 127 degrees F on the pavement!! I can feel for those guys. Again, thanks to all of you.
