I've just joined bike journal but don't know how to add my distance: 11,608.92km/7,255.575miles. Anyone help?
Well, Yasmin, you've got me rubbing my administrative hands together and chuckling!!
Just log in and on the top navigation bar, pull down the "journal" heading to "add a ride." Your entry will be a bulk entry, so check that box. You can pick today's date as your ride date or any arbitrary date, I suppose. You'll probably also have to guess an average speed for your miles.
Welcome to the team/club!!! :D
wooooohoooo Yasmin!!! 7200+ miles??......you be the woman my friend!!!
Thanks Corsair & Nuthatch. I'm pleased to report that the miles have been entered appropriately.
Now, if only I could recover from this nasty virus so I could keep the odometer turning! Wanted to put an "eek" face here but am still computer illiterate.
PS - I'm even gonna put my team as TE seeing as I'm allowed to. My team in Australia wouldn't be recognised...so here goes.
(A coule of minutes have passed....).
Cool. Done!!!
Good. I"m glad someone helped you. I would have, but I knew you would knock me down on the list - wasn't too anxious to lose my standings. After seeing Cat's mileage, I knew that I was heading further and further down the list!
Sorry PW-seems a bit rude me barging in like that.
So as you all know it's me, my nick name on BikeJournal is "petitepower". The other user names I tried had been taken.
No worries! My standings are about to take a serious downturn - lots of off-bike nonsense going on that's seriously going to affect my mileage. Glad to have you aboard, though! The friendly competition really is fun and inspiring.

Corsair "I am NOT competitive.....am not, am not, am not" Mac ;)
Yasmin: post a reply and look over to the right hand side of the reply box - you should see some cute little faces with various and sundry expressions. Just click on the face you want and it'll put it where ever your cursor is in the reply box.
Here's an "eek" face for you my friend:
Corsairmac: Thanks for the tutorial about the faces. I'm learning. :)
...So the rude voices in my head were you, were they Corsair. Now I know it'll save me a trip to the shrink :D
Pedalwench: Don't worry honey...the way this virus is going you may get in front of me sooner than you think!
I need to update my entry. My computer also suffered a fatal coronary and wiped my hard drive clean. I lost all my training data for the past couple of years.
Would it be ok for me to enter a lump sum and start again? I have the majority of my stats from June onwards from my bike computer.
We're all on the honor system, Snappy, so I think that would be fine!
P.S. Yasmin, thanks for the "petitepower" miles!!! :) You know, I was thinking I might have a chance to move up in miles because I planned to keep commuting in the winter, but I forgot about the southern hemisphere riders - it's almost summer for you guys!
Thanks Nuthatch.
Oh yes, it's the start of the season here - although the winter has been so mild that I've managed to train right through, which is a total novelty! It's starting to warm up nicely here Down Under.
I'm still trying to get my head around Christmas in summer though - it feels so wrong and hearing Winter Wonderland on the radio blows my mind!!
My boss informed me that we're taking 4-6 weeks off for the holidays ... and while the downside to this is I won't get paid at all :( , it also means that I've got LOTS of time to train hard throughout the summer!
I've often wondered how our southern neighbors feel celebrating in the warmth when the entire English speaking Christmas heritage is geared towards a England/New England winter (In the bleak midwinter, etc.). Do you girls want to share any of your local Christmas spin with us? Help us feel the warmth of the holidays down under (can you tell I'm waking up to 8 degrees here in Chicago?)! :D
Our last Xmas in Aust it was 41C or about 106F so we stayed inside for most of the day with the Aircon on. We always have a big seafood spread for lunch (no way Im cooking hot lunch when its that hot).Quote:

On boxing day we would normally go to the beach or to a friends for a big BBQ.
Another thing that is different is the school year finishes in early Dec so the kids are on their big holiday break which is lots of fun. I guess when you grow up with Xmas being in summer it seems normal. This will be our second Xmas in the Northern Hemisphere (we arrived in the USA last Xmas Eve) and its lovely to experience Xmas in the Winter but I still do miss the thought of lazy beach days and BBQ over the Xmas holidays.
I'm from England originally but have lived in Australia for 37years (emigrated at 12) . It still feels odd to me having Christmas in warm weather. Just goes to show how powerful those formative years are. However, I'm not complaining. Weather in Adelaide at the moment is changeable: 28oC (82oF) one day, 18oC (62oF) with thunder, winds/heavy rains etc the next. These days the real scorchers seem to come Jan/Feb when it can reach 45oC (115oF).Quote:

I WISH I knew what I was missing! I'd like to experience that at least once!

it needs to snow on christmas eve so you wake up to a wonderful and beautiful white christmas day... then it can melt and warm up! :D
I want to add my annual miles but for the life of me can't find the site. Is it part of this site or another? Please advise how and where as I will be adding about 2800 miles.
thanks,
Jpbayarea
Just let us know if you have trouble - you need to "sign up" and then look at the top navigation bar on the home page for "journal." It will pull down for you to "add ride" and you can add your bulk miles. Welcome to the team!Quote:

Shall we up our goal to 135,000 for next year?? I KNOW we can do it....If I managed just over 3,000 my first year back into it, I know y'all can do more!
- Bike "rah rah" Momma:p
Well, If it would JUST STOP RAINING BUCKETS for a couple of days, I've got 111 miles to go for 7500 miles this year! So close ... I have Friday and Saturday (Dec 30 & 31st)off. I"ll even ride at 5AM tomorrow before work if I can - that's usually a 10 mile ride. So, that's my goal.
(Too bad I don't have my bike here at work.....can't you just see me riding in my dress up clothes on the hills of San Francisco!

It doesn't sound like it IS going to stop anytime soon out there! Send it on over here to Chicago - it's too cold for me to ride and we are having a severe drought! :)Quote:

I tried to do my part, guys, by going on a ride in December, for the first time ever. I am 99 miles short of my goal, which s****. I could have easily reached the 2500 mile mark, with a bit more motivation, but after I came back from my cycling trip to Europe, I slacked off a bit. I think I was around #9 or 10 for most of the season (I know I can't compete with the warm weather people) and now I am barely in the top 20.
Next year!
Robyn
OK the blowing thing must have worked because there is going to be a break in the rain and wind tomorrow up my way (at least that is what the weather site is saying). I can cope with the rain but hate that wind so Ive organized a sitter for the boys and Im heading out. Could be my last chance before the new year if that wind starts up again. The weather site is predicting some nasty stuff turning up this weekend ----Hmm Happy Stormy New Year I guess.Quote:

You devil!! Where have you been lately? Out riding your little legs off? We are on our "nth" day of totally overcast weather with drizzle. I feel like I'm living in Scotland (but without the Munros). Och, lassie! :)Quote:

wish I could say "yes" but I did the requisite "visit the fam for the hols". When I got home all I wanted to do was be a couch potato and remember why I moved 1500 miles Away from them! I was hoping to do a metric Saturday but now I have to crew for my hot air balloon so it looks like a long ride is out.Quote:

Corsair, good to have you back home and taunting us with the weather report!
Have you guys looked at our mileage lately? We're up to nearly 30,000 already! Wowie!
Way to ride ladies! Keep logging....:D

Thanks Bike Momma for bringing us up to date for 2006! So we're almost at 30,000 and we've got 8+ months to go! I think we can do it... I thinkwecan, Ithinkwecan....:p :p :p :p
Okay I just added my 206 miles. That's since I started riding March 18th. Not a lot, but I guess it helps...
hello everyone, I used to be more active on this forum years ago--have rediscovered the forum. My old user name was "stella": forgot my password and modified it to "stella*". Not very original, I know--but: I have a 40y/o brain.
Anyway, I am posting on this thread because I may owe an apology because: I joined team estrogen on the bikejournal.com site without checking with you folks to make sure that was o.k.
let me know if I messed up!
