I just posted my going home commute of 6 miles and it put us @ 11,006! Oh yeah...does that look good or what?.....as for highest ranked womens only team Nancy?...I don't know if Slantz has stats like that but he would be the one to ask. As for the rando riders being nuts: go look at the VRC thread - there's a rider named ChrisL who has already ridden across the US (virtually) and is on his way back and he just does that for fun. He commutes to work and then rides a century pretty much every night just coz he can! Now THAT"S nuts!
Nancy you're 11th when you do a filter and have only women's stats. :) And 2nd when I factor in your age. You're also second out all females in CA and not too far behind. BTW I'm up and waiting for vitamin I again, so this is keeping from feeling the pain.

I think those 300 people are just crazy - they don't work, they can't have a social life!!
I wasn't asked to classify our team as "women's" or "men's" when I set up the team, so I'd be surprised if Slantz can categorize them. I guess he could look for the word "women" in the club description but that wouldn't put the data in a database so's he could sort it that way.
Veronica- Of course you are my HILL model (in addition to Yellow our Hill Meister). :) Did you do this on a tandem or solo? The furthest I have ridden is 139 miles last year on the way to Porland from Seattle. I wanted to do a double metric and that was the closest I could get to the mileage I wanted. :D
Also haven't you done the DMD? That's a big one in my books as is the Grizzly Peak century.
What you don't do in mileage you do in hills- too bad we can't factor in altitudes into our overall miles. I think you would have me beat from all those Diablo trips! :p
V- I forgot to ask you how you were doing. Vitamins help? How long does it take for this condition to clear up?
Today I rode up to the Junction on Diablo and I think exercise is helping. Certianly makes it easier to ignore. :D It seems to last between 4 and 7 days.
It was hot! Too hot for the pink cashemere I was wearing. But my arm got pawed out by a lot of men on the Riv ride. ;)
I've never actually completed DMD. 116 miles, 11,000 feet of climbing out od 205 20,000+ feet of the full ride. I don't think I'll EVER complete DMD. At some point it becomes not fun. That's when I stop. Well actually last year it become not fun about 5 miles before I actually stopped.

Hear, hear for stopping when it's not fun anymore! I was thinking about that philosophy (about Veronica's thoughts on it earlier in this thread, I believe) today while I was riding - about that balance between driving yourself to acheive something and enjoying it. I sure would never want riding to become tainted and joyless. But I have to think about the balance all the time because I'm a lazy slug at heart. :rolleyes:Quote:

Hi gang!
Veronica - Bike Goddess, What's the DMD?
Thanks.
spazz
DMD = Devil Mountain Double. A 205 mile road ride - goes up Mount Diablo, Morgan Territory, Mount Hamilton and a few other significant climbs. All done in one day.
DMD Info
I have ridden it to "The Junction" mile 116.

Thanks Veronica! I checked out the site ref. Sounds very, uh, interesting
Is there an actual route map available? Didn't see one on the site. Anybody got an old one that's cyber worthy?
spazz
I have one on a bandana. :) I'll see if it will feed into my laptop. ;)
V.
Thanks Veronica!
I'm kinda collecting routes... speaking of which;
Calling all bike history buffs (including DH, SO, friends, LBS buddies) -
I'm looking for the route map for the old (1980's) Coors Classic in Colorado, featured in the film American Flyers. I'm done exhaustive googling... even sent an email to Coors (not that I expect to hear from them).
Anyway, if anyone has one, knows where I can acquire one, whatever, PM me with the info (unless anybody else is interested).
spazz aka "propeller head" aka "geek"
This would be pretty interesting to see. You might try posting on cyclingforums or bikejournal. Cool project.Quote:

OK... I'm game. If you have it, email it over.
Hmmm... I see a new page on my site being born.
spazz (DANGER! DANGER WILL ROBINSON! SPAZZDOG IS THINKING!)
MM is now on board! I didn't read the thing properly when I registered club but I'm now with the TE'ers. I've logged all my milage for this year which is a looking a bit lame this year, but as I had a bad back since Dec I haven't done as much as I would have liked. Thing are looking up though.
Back now seems to be 95% better and now you kind ladies have led me to BJ (and the weather's cheering up ) motivation levels are soaring! This is great - I've always been a bit of a statto anyway. I've got a notebook with pretty much every ride in it I've ever done, with the same info I enter for BJ , so updating the website will be a breeze.
Lets get those miles in. What a top notch motivator..!!! :) :) :)
MM- Congrats on getting on the TEAM! MORE, MORE, MORE! We're awesome! :p :p
Now, Nuthatch- I think you should do some stats-
How many on the team, age range, geographical locations, av miles, whatever else you can think of! :)
Those of us doing the AIDS ride will rack up 600+ miles in ONE WEEK! Hey not too shabby! :D :D
OK... I just spent 6 hrs raking and bagging leaves and a winter collection of doggie doo. How many miles can I log :p
spazz (who's off to the shower)
Hey Spazz- How about elevation gain for all the lifting of the rake? :p
Eeek! Me? Stats? Isn't that MM's forte? Hmmm - I guess I could put it in the club news section, couldn't I?
Actually you weigh the poundage of the dog-doo and plug it into a formula that calculates the amount of omni-points it represents. These omni-points can be redeemed for any pleasant thing of your choice: bike miles, chocolate covered coffee beans, new bike toys, etc. I've got two poopers who create an incredible amount of doo for their size and the picking up usually falls to my daughter who redeems her points for music CDs! :D
Well, for some reason the enhanced stats section, which allows you to see total distance broken down by age group and team, won't show me any of the 40-49 y/old catagory (which is a bunch of us). Maybe it's for the best because bikegoddess is spanking all of us and she's in one of the more mature catagories! Go, BG, go!!!!!!
Aww, Spazzdog, you put your picture up on your profile! It's so nice to see what folks look like - makes it seem more home-like around here! Thanks! :D
In the 40 - 49 group of women Kim is ranked 14.
V.
Out of... 15? I only input my mileage every few weeks, and will do an update tomorrow when I'm on my other PC. I find BJ navigation very confusing ... where are these stats located?Quote:

I had a hard time with enhanced stats at first too kim - I couldn't get it to display what I wanted until I realized I had to read all the columns first and "Quote:

Welcome MM welcome! Glad to hear the backs feeling better! Isn't it fun seeing everyone on BJ! I've always been curious what most of you rode on the avg and now I know!....of course, I will probably always just be a Vestal (non)Virgin to most of you but I still enjoy slugging away at those miles and watching ya'll keep going up on yours!Quote:

It's not just us, then. This enhanced stats section is fairly new, so maybe it's something Slantz is still working to refine.
It still has a wrench by it meaning it's under construction - he may not have all the parameters in yet.
So how many of ya saw our girl Melody #1 in number of rides posted for March at 52??........wtg Mel!!!
Of course, the calories don't count because you've "earned" them!Quote:
