UK, are you following this? There will be a test...next year
what Bike Goddess says "keep it light if you can."
a wheeled bag is a must unless you have a backpack.
good morning routine is pack, head to the truck with helmet gloves and bike shoes either in hand or on the pack. Once at truck put tennis shoes/tivo's/keens whatever on top of bag so they will be ready for schleping use on arrival to next camp. Ask kind, fast and well organised tentmate (thanks BG!) to make sure you don't take off with the BIKE SHOES IN THE BAG.
I've done that, had to aks the luggage crew to get it back out :o
"check the pressure daily. You must ride at 100-110 lbs minimum."
Funny, I never had to wait long to pump the tires, I do this in the morning on the theory that my tires will be hot from my blistering speed (ignore the sound of TE gals hysterical laughter in the background) so the PSI will be up. But check the tires each day, nothing slows you down more than a flat.
"Your goal for the ride- no flats. :) :) :) :)"
I thought it was to have fun, ride safely, support a good cause :) :) :) :)
I think my LBS was kidding when they said they were out of my tires in 26 so they gave me 25's. I could feel the difference. why train? Buy speed! :) :D
But seriously get new tires and .... where there is a bike lane don't hug the far right, don't go over it to the left either but the road debris is gathered in the far right and people who stay there on this ride...flat a lot.
Spokes!! If you have wheels with non standard spokes take a couple of extra. Some people do keep those on them taped inside the seat post. I would think the rattle would drive me batty. My LBS let me borrow a couple spokes and I kept them in my bag figured if I need one and the mechanics don't have it in the truck worse case I go into camp, get the spoke and ride the next day. Because I brought it I did not need it, If I hadn't....
