I've been watching Weather Underground in facination. The wind seems to be going from 8 - 25 mph. Poor Cindy girls. On the other hand, it seems to be calm in Solvang!
I'm turning into a weather geek.

It was so incredibly windy out there, I couldn't believe it! Got rained on climbing Cross rd. (water was literally pouring down my face, but I dried quickly - thank God I got a GoreTex jacket this week) and the after the 2nd rest stop (37miles), the winds were howling. I made it about 2 miles out of the rest stop and turned around and went back. SAG'd to the finish. Had a blast on the portion I did and met some nice ladies in the wagon... there were LOTS of SAGgers and apparently only about 1K ladies showed up today.
MountainPuddles and Carimail both finished strong. I suck, but I was really not having fun anymore. I wanted to have fun. :)
At 4:00AM it was pouring rain with wind coming from the south at about 20MPH. Since I've done this ride twice before, I decided to bail out. However, Sheri, one of the women I was going to ride with wanted to go down and see how things looked. Three of us- myself, Sandie (sag4valentine) and I caravaned down. It was windy and cold, BUT no rain. So Sheri went out and Sandie and I had bkfst and then went to find people. We finally found Sheri at the lunch stop- about 30+ miles out. She was tired, but still going strong. We looked for her at the end, but didn't see her.
I'm riding tomorrow- same route with some others who bailed today.
