Wow, utmost respect for this lady.
I was amazed several months back when I swam my first mile, only mentioning this because we are the same age................and that's where the similarity ends. ;)
I just came across the following:
"The world still needs people such as Diana Nyad, people who demonstrate the strength of will by taking the impossible and making it possible. Nyad's straits of Florida are a metaphorical stand-in for any number of challenges that people believe they'll never overcome. Her refusal to quit inspires others to press forward. In an era where few mountain summits remained unclimbed, we still need impossible pursuits to reaffirm the indomitability of the human spirit."

LOVED LOVED LOVED this. Thank you for sharing!
This:
"Seize your days. All of them. Be bold. Don't give in to fear. To paraphrase my favorite quote, by Mary Oliver: 'So, what are you going to do with this one, wild and precious life of yours?'"
Going to take this with me from here on out!
Wow, and here she goes again.
Following the progress....she's looking good http://www.diananyad.com/
To bring this into bicycling, one of the postings on Live Update Guy's Vuelta ticker this morning was
Quote:
It ain't bike racing, but Diana Nyad is on track to finish her swim from Cuba to Key West today. Swimming 112 miles at age 64 may very well make her the only person in the world who can claim to be tougher than Jensie. Shut Up Arms! (see diananyad.com).

Looks like she did it! She's amazing.
I'm in awe. She must be so happy. Or will be, whenever she's capable of thinking and feeling again, which might be a while ...
Truly impressive.
So very cool. Talk about never quitting. Just wow. Congrats to her!
I had the great fortune of meeting her in Cancun and doing a swim clinic, and then again in Key West last summer. She is energetic and wall to wall positive energy.
Way to go Diana!!!
