So happy to meet another Husky owner. I love Kali totally, she is my first ever, high energy, fun, independent personality, very smart. But I have to spend a lots of time training her with basic command, maybe it's me, I don't know for sure. And she never bark, she howl(when EMS pass by).
I commute to work almost everyday this week, so I only have time to do short runs in the morning. It's total 15 miles this week.
I finally got a little run in today -- just a slow 5K on the treadmill, and I was kinda dead after my mtb ride last night, but it felt good to run again. Plan on running on the trails on Sunday and HOPE the pollen is past peak finally. It's been a rough spring.... :( (we need a sneezing smiley!)
Happy weekend, all!

Kimmy, that is so hard, I know. But when I find myself in that place (like I was just a couple of weeks ago), I realize how much fun it is to watch the finishers, and with a very hefty appreciation for what everyone is doing. You'll get back there, I'll get back there...but in the meantime enjoy the spectating.
Well, I feel like the undead but I did manage to sneak in a run today (I did not tell anyone I was running...had to describe it as "hike" in case someone says anything about it to my DH since, officially I'm not running ). After yesterday's snow and generally miserable weather, it was beautiful today and the mountains were particularly stunning with a fresh blanket of snow. I hit it all today on the trail--snow, mud, creek, buffed dirt, rock...at times I could not physically run because I had so much mud on my shoes. There is so much snow on the higher trails I have no idea when I'll be able to get out and "hike" them. I was at about 6000' today and in snow quite a lot of the time. Last year at this time I was already tackling the 8000' peaks in the area. I did bag a little peak mid-run...up to about 6400'.
It was nice to get out even though I now feel like a pony-express pony at the switching point. There was hardly anyone out and once again I was reminded that I live in a beautiful place. I sure miss running. Maybe I'll be able to get back to it for real in the fall.
I ran 4 miles this morning and pushed DD in the jogger. I wanted to do at least 6, but it was so windy. 20 mph wind gusts! It sure felt like I ran farther than I did.
My bike is at the shop, getting her annual tune-up. She was supposed to be done this morning but wasn't and won't be ready 'til Monday. I was planning on doing my first group ride tomorrow. But I guess now I'll be doing a long trail run instead.
Sounds like a typical Husky. I know what you mean about "independent personality." Ours (we've had two) always know what they want, and yes they're very smart. They usually learn commands the first time but off leash, they know they're off leash and they look at you like "make me!" Our girl doesn't bark but the male we had before did a lot of "talking" - "woo-wooing."
Well, I did five miles on the treadmill yesterday. I wanted to look at my pacing - treadmill is good for that, anyway. It felt pretty good. Bike ride today.
