Me too. I tried it once - yes once - and my body simply can't take the impact! Silver is also a triathelete...it really makes for a balanced body tone!

Add me in to those who admire runners and triathletes. Every time I have tried running (and starting off very slowly) I have more injury and misery than needed. Never did get that "runner's high." Swimming? I can do the breast stroke, but I don't go where my feet can't touch the ground or the side of a pool. I seriously thought about training for a tri, just to finish, but then I realized it was sort of a peer pressure thing. I know a lot of people who are less fit than me who do them, but I guess my body just can't take the pounding of running. Glad someone else is the same, Mr. Silver.
Ditto! Running and swimming are hard. It's not like biking where you can rest on the downhills or coast a bit for a breather. :o
Well, I suppose riding a fixie would be the same concept. gahhh :p
I made over 5K for outdoor miles Jan-June, which is surprising given how much time I spent indoors riding the trainer due to the horrible February weather. Maybe I've earned that ti bike I've been lusting after? LOL
I logged just under 500 miles on the road (and another 700 on the trainer). I, too, split my time between swimming, biking, and running so my road miles aren't where I had hoped when I set a goal of 2500 total miles for the year (little did I know that TRIATHLON would become all consuming!). I hope to pick up the pace as I do more bike commuting and also in the fall after my triathlon schedule is done.
Can I add my 150 running miles since they were all on the road, too?
None, you just need to want a road bike.
I'm also in the triathlon group. And I'm with Oldbikah in that we had snow on the road until April this year. (That's very EARLY to be able to get out.) So, since the beginning of April I've only put about 500-600 miles on my bikes.
I'm still debating whether or not to try to do an HIM at the end of September. If I do, the road totals are going to go WAY up.
My miles for this year are 892 as of June 30th but added 100 yesterday, to bad it wasn't it time.
I was doing ok until I took up the swimming and running too in June, and boy have they cut into my cycling miles. I used to never run, I mean I hated it so much because it always seemed so hard. Back on the 1st of June I had to jog almost a half mile or risk being embarressed. I made it the whole way and then realized that I can run. So now I do that as well. Not as fast as most people I meet but steady.
I'd like to have 2500-3000 by the end of the year. My proudest milage was yesterday I rode my third century but broke all the rules for riding a good century. Meaning the longest ride I have done this year is 34 miles, and the milage the month before was 37 more then yesterdays ride. And a few other things I'll mention in another thread about what not to do or how not to do a century.
Well... uuuummm... I'm a really SLOW runner. Trust me, there's nothing impressive going on here. In fact it's probably rather painful to watch me run... since I'm going so slow. HA! :p
This comment pretty much sums up every time I run:

CR400... Congrats on riding 100 miles yesterday! Impressive!
I'm signed up for one on Oct. 7th. Right now, I'm averaging around 120 miles a week on the bike and riding 3 days a week. Not sure how much that will go up. If you are going to do it... better hurry up and decide so you can get to training.Quote:
