T-many many butterflies & happy thoughts coming your way :) ((((T & J))))
I can't thank you enough for all your butterflies!
Ah T -
I've been there. I've learned the hard way to open up to good friends and let them be there for me. Not something I'm good at doing, but we've had a rough year.
Many butterflies headed your way - beautiful golden ones to lighten your mood and lovely lavender ones to comfort you.
CA
LBTC - I hope things get better for you and your DH soon.
for some reason... I am finding taking pictures on my way to work is helping me heal with the break-up. I am enjoying the 2 mile walk to work from the train... and am enjoying the cold and wind in my face. I am not sure why, but it just feels good this year.
so here's a pic from yesterday... this is the Chicago River that I cross everyday on my walk to work

KG, Pax, SG, CC, CA, Bruno - Thank you for the much-needed butterflies and well-wishes!! :o Things will get better, but I guess they have to hurt for awhile first. I so hate seeing my DH feel so low and so wish I could just take that all away from him....
Chicago - taking photos is like therapy. Finding beauty, especially in unexpected places and times, is like butterflies - healing.
Hugs and butterflies,
~T~
T - you deserve every happiness, here's hoping things lighten up for you soon.
Chicago - I LOVE that city, I need to get up there more often. My niece works in the Hancock, are you anywhere near there?
T - here you go, lots and lots of butterflies stopping by on their migration to flitter about you and cheer you up.

Good juju coming at you from the Big Easy too! :)
I've been to Chicago. I liked it :D
Emmm....that's it.
Sounds good.
But unlikely to happen this year, what with wedding plans and all....:p
A gazillion high-energy butterflies to all who need some. F'rinstance, these should help T's DH put together a zinger of a job app, thus landing an even better job soon, with only barely time to get through the "honey-do" list before he's back at work.
dUCK- What is that lovely photo? I love it!
((((((((T)))))))) Flocks of butterflies to you and your DH.
pics from today... first just a standard Chicago street with the L (EL.. elevated train) going through the city... but I kind of like the L... I like the roaring sound it makes as it's passing.

and then the Trump (building on the right) tower that is near finished. The 2nd tallest building in the U.S... Sears Tower (in Chicago) being the first... why we needed another skyscraper is beyond me... but here it is. Once finished, it will be the world's highest building with residence above ground. I personally don't like it... I think it looks like a shotgun pointing into the sky...

Chicago, I love these pictures you're posting. Thanks.
Chicago-how do you bike on those roads??? Doesn't look like there's alot of room.
My knowledge of Chicago comes from watching ER :o (that's when it's actually on!!!)
Chicago - Back in 1993-1994 I drove for Airborne Express and delivered the Loop. I bet I've driven every inch of downtown Chicago (and all the "lowers") and been in a huge number of the buildings. Man, I love Chicago!
It does look like a shotgun, especially with the square thicker section at the bottom.
CC- people has been bicycling on crowded city streets for over a hundred years. Those Chicago streets look like a piece of cake compared to cycling in say Shanghai:

A balmy 25F degrees this morning.... :)
I am enjoying the Chicago shots, only been to O'hare never the city. I do like cities but then again I hate being in one too long.
It is that cold in Texas, I protest that it isn't colder up north! I do hate cold but then again I get miserable with 20+ days of 100. Maybe I am just never going to be happy with the weather. :p
where's the snow!!??? a coworker was just in Chicago and said it snowed 6"
haha... that's the city... i live in the suburbs... 25 miles southwest. i commute to work via the train and then walk 2 miles to my job.
there's lots of room out here in the burbs... and further south and west and north and northwest. one cannot bike effectively in the city... unless you're on a fixed gear and are a bike messenger:D
Happy Birthday Kitsune!!!!!! :D:D:D:cool::D
Wanna go camping? :D
it did not snow 6"!!... we had a few inches the other day, but certainly not six.
it's cold today though... but i'm off work:D... and in my p.j's... having tasty coffee. as soon as i get my lazy butt up... i'm going to go put the border on my latest quilt and bring it in for quilting:D
Happy Belated Birthday Allez Girl!!!! :D:D:D
I hope yesterday was a good one.
Happy Birfday Kit!!!!!!!
We're off to Rottnest for my first open water swim event :) Pictures to come
If you can send some good vibes etc, i'd love it :D
Good vibes on their way CC, enjoy your swim!
Thank you all for the wonderful positive thoughts and the beautiful butterflies! They must be working - it looks like we have a plan. DH will have to take courses, there will be some investment, and we think he can work, or at the very least collect EI, until he starts making money at it - hopefully within just a few months.
The next little while will be tough, so, if you can spare them and think of it, your random good thoughts and butterflies will be greatly appreciated.
CC - sending you special amphibious butterflies to keep you fast, and keep the stingers away. You'll have a great swim!
Kit - have a fabulous birthday and a great weekend!
We had snow and then freezing rain today. I guess it is winter.
This week we saw Metallica - great seats, big show, big stage, big flames, good sound, huge crowd. It was quite good. Then we saw Nine Inch Nails - smaller venue, amazing light show (curtains of LEDs that did soooooooooooooooo many things), great sound. It was fantastic! And I got to see my friend that I haven't seen in 3 years! That was sooooo wonderful! And she's got a franchise business called Kix4Chix - a ladies only kickboxing business. I used to go to the classes before we moved and it was so fabulous. I sure hope that DH or I can find someone who wants to invest and start one locally. I really want to start taking those classes again!
And she's interested in selling products that my company has. I'll be talking to my boss about that next week, and am hoping we can get her carrying our programmed stainless steel water bottles. She's really pumped about it.
Life really is good. :) Everyone, have a great weekend!
Hugs and butterflies,
~T~
CC, didn't you once tell me about the Australian movie "The Black Balloon", about a family with an autistic son? There's a review of it in the NY Times online today because it's opening in NYC.
Good morning, all. I do in fact have a cold. So be it. Punishment for not drinking the Drambuie when I had the chance,
It's never too late (or too early) for Drambuie ;)
Just for your entertainment, a couple of NY pics. The first one shows the back of my coat against the architecture of the Guggenheim Museum. For some reason, I found that juxtaposition entertaining. As you know, I am easily amused. The second is Chris' $20 picture of NYC at night. $20 because that's how much they charged to let people go up to the building's viewpoint. He asked me if I wanted to come along and I said something like "I'm not paying $40 to those people for one $%($%^U# lousy aerial view picture", so I stayed on the ground and watched the ice skaters at Rockefeller Plaza. It IS a good picture, though. The third is a picture of an especially gorgeous bowl at the Museum of Art and Design.
