That was Thanksgiving dinner at my house :D
Lisa knows where that's from. One of the greatest cult films ever produced.
Trust me, that's not even close to being the most disturbing footage from that movie
I'm just gnashing my teeth because we have to go to the inlaws for a catered affair. These days I'll eat the turkey, so Thanksgiving has become a four-day orgy of meat for me. I'm actually very disappointed that we won't be having leftovers this year :p
the things (i'm glad ) I missed!!
Come to the surreal side, Mimi. At least for a short visit.
oh Zen, life is too short. Although I am sure i would have enjoyed it
I've never seen Eraserhead..:o
Happy Birthday dear Salsabike :D:cool:
Me either cc, and I thought I'd seen all the bizzaro cult films....
Happy birfday salsa!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SALSA BIKE! I didn't know you were a sagittarius!
(hm, maybe you're a scorpio?)
Hey HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! SALSA!!!!! :D :D :D
Happy Birthday Salsa!!! :D:D:D:D:D
Hippo Birdy to Ewe!!!
Happy day!
Karen
Love the diverstity here....
So I started reading from the last time I visited...the drift went from Cornish Hens to a birthday wish. (Happy B-Day Salsa!). Oh w/ a smattering of rugby and Eraserhead. Awesome!
Just happy it is a 3 day work week.
Just getting over a cold (well, almost)
And looking forward to the dysfunctional family Thanksgiving event!
Hello, gang. Thanks for the birthday wishes---much appreciated! And greetings from Albany NY, where we are spending T'giving with my best friend and her spouse. It was a brisk 26 degrees yesterday but more Seattle-like today, at 39--I can deal with that. Going into the city for two days starting tomorrow to do the museums---the redone Greek/Roman parts of the Met, the new Museum of Art and Design, and the Museum of Modern Art. It's a little strange and a little hard to be back here with both parents now gone. But I seem to want to be here anyway. I get to see both of my long time best friends, and some other friends and relatives.
Sagittarius, not Scorpion--just.
Hope everyone's doing well.
Wow, Albany is only 40 minute drive from me!
Have a good time and enjoy NYC!
Yes, yesterday was COLD here. My cheezy 3 yr old original car battery died on me and my car wouldn't start yesterday at 20F. Today I bought a new HEAVY DUTY battery so I shouldn't have that problem now. :)
Still trying to let my knee heal and I hate not being able to go for a cold ride or walk. :( Getting more work done because of it though.
Ruby has been sneaking some other little lost souls in here, I suspect they are coming to the back door for handouts in the cold and Ruby is inviting them in quietly. I've been practicing tolerance and charity and pretending not to notice....these are hard times, after all. Portions of bread and cheese now regularly go missing from the pantry. sigh....I can always stretch the soup out. Trying to come up with makeshift clothes for the lot of them is proving to be a challenge however.
Happy birthday Salsa!! Sounds like you have a great couple of days planned, think about all of us that are working okay?
My father-in-law called yesterday to say he would be having a family thanksgiving Saturday to accomodate my BIL and his family. DH told him we will cancel our planned getaway to the coast to come. And so it continues this year. I often feel that we are an after thought but expected to not have plans. Hello we are DINKS, we have an active schedule part of the joy of being kidless we often do fun stuff on a whim and travel at least once a month. Mumble mumble. I wonder if my father in law will make some comment about how his other son only had daughters so I must have kids because I am the only hope of carrying on the family name by having a boy?
BSG how kind of you to open your heart and home to wayward guests. ;)
Bleek, maybe it's Salsa stealing the bread and cheese? 40 miles only 40 miles!!! wow.
Happy b-day , Salsa! Have fun out there!
Sending supportive butterflies to all of you with dysfunctional families that are getting together and proving it again this Thanksgiving. I admire your loyalty and tolerance in getting together despite your differences. I'm not being sarcastic, either. I didn't have it in me to keep up the charade, so I've been family-free for about 10 years now. I have actually chosen my family now. :o
Also sending happy butterflies to all of you who have happy families to celebrate the day with! You are blessed!
For me it's a regular work week, since we Canadians had thanksgiving last month. :)
Work is busy and interesting and changing all the time. Riding on the trainer is much harder to get those km's in, but I have finally broken the 3200 km mark this year. Next week we're going to 2 concerts (Metallica and Nine Inch Nails) and DH's Holiday party. We'll spend the weekend after that recovering and putting the tree and decorations up. whew.
Hugs and butterflies,
~T~
First I thought Ruby was your cat. Then I thought it was your daughter. Then I thought it might be your bike. Then I searched TE for "Ruby and BleeckerSt_Girl" and came up dry. Then I found your mandolin website. Then I thought Ruby must be your imaginary friend.
I give up. Who is Ruby? Photo please. So I can stop trying to imagine you making winter clothes for the neighborhood field mice.
Happy birthday Salsa!
Happy Birthday Salsa!!
I'll tell you this much, Ruby scares me. Stephen King could have a field day with her
You're not kid-less, you're kid-free!
Does he also wear a suit made of chain mail (or velveteen breeches)?
andHAPPY BIRTHDAY, SALSA
from a fellow Archer :)
I have a sneaking suspicion that the Ruby files were on OTA, which is now all gone. Ruby is... quite a character. I hope the saga of Ruby is brought to TE once more. It's quite entertaining. :D
My 2nd T'giving in OR and I'm happy to have a very "functional" dinner with my sweetie. My 2nd year of not dealing with my one brother. I miss my Mom and much of my family back in PA but that kind of drama I can live without. I feel bad for them because I know I will hear all of the stories of how horrible it went and who got mad at who and stormed out... I choose to be happy. From the whole way across country. :o ;)
Heading out soon to check out an entertainment center we found on craig$li$t. We want something smaller than what we have but built in such a way as to be more useful for the components we own. This one should work well for us and save some space while having room for everything in one place. We are going to put ours out for free to someone who could use it. Recycle, recycle...
I miss OT: Australia. I think I missed where it went and why:(
Ruby was quite a character - hopefully BSG will post a pic of her again:)
This is Ruby.

SEE!?
She's learning how to set people on fire
But kudos to her for knowing German :D
Now I'm going to have birthday nightmares...boy, did you ever open a can of worms, Pardes. :D:D
Who remembers "My name is Talking Tina"?
Ooo- wasn't that a Twilight Zone episode?
ETA- Why, yes it was...
Umm..i think that i live in the twilight zone some days
Ah, that was the unmatched voice of June Foray. She voiced so many different characters over the years. She is still alive as I understand.
Edit: Looked her up. She's 91 and still active. Incredible. Wow, I thought I caught her voice over the years here and there but she did a TON of characters that we all grew up with.
Still, she didn't do every character. Mel Blanc was another icon of voices... like this one.>>> (warning: cuss word. don't view at work.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoOJ7FeSQDI
One of my favorites. :D:D
may I present this cinematic gem. I just wish they had been more imaginative with the title :(
From the bbc news web-site this morning...
'As with so much in the economy, that has several local knock-on effects, not just for construction industry jobs but to Falkirk football club. Keir Homes had to withdraw its sponsorship of the club's north stand and the team's shorts. '
On top of everything else, now I'm worried that my local football team will be playing without shorts
Oh, Twilight Zone :D
My favorite episode is the one with Robert Redford as Death. That one like NEVER comes on. Who remembers it?
And I'd better not show anything about June Foray or Mel Blanc to DH. He'd be going on in voices for days. He claims that when he was 7 years old he used to amuse his older relatives with his dead-on Louis Armstrong impression. I believe it, too. And as for the music, when we were dating, he made me a compilation tape that included a Bugs Bunny soundtrack (Carl Stalling). This was in the antiquated 1990s when you couldn't just download that sort of thing from YouTube... he had it on CD and everything.
Saw Mel Blanc in college. What a riot that preformance was!
Great, now I have to worry about my head if I don't produce boys.
I am scared.
I needed that mental image, quite funny!
Inderal has been making me nauseated. My neurologist personally returned my call and said "Well that isn't a normal side effect. Don't take it for a week then try again."
Damn, you're right. It's all been wiped clean off. I have spare copies of the pictures on my computer of course, but I am really bummed out that all the elaborate accompanying story descriptions I wrote for each adventure are now just totally GONE. :( That is really a downer for me, I put my heart and soul into those little scraps of literature. :(
If only I had had warning I could have tracked them down and saved the texts on my computer. I'll have to see if I can find 'anything' on the Wayback machine, but all the multiple trails of links to other defunct pages will pose a big problem there.
work has started a bit off. the first 3 people in the lab didn't know how to turn the lights on (Including me) it seems our new test engineer figured out a new way to turn them off, so we all sat here in the dark until he got here.
Raleighdon is home, so I got to see his new "gold" medal. oooooooooooooo
