Someone mentioned it might have to do with stress as well..
I have frozen Snicker's bars... and it's evening...best combination:p
Not exactly :p ;) . And a recent article said they are wrestling his blackberry from him. As president he can't be online.
That's why I'm not running ;) Can't access TE from the Oval office, yeah right. ;)
go to http://www.change.gov
In the middle of the page you see "American Moment"? Click there and is a space "share your story" and or "share your vision"
Looks like as nice a spot as any to share your hopes and dreams, and how his victory inspires you're art and us all.
Ahhhhhh :D I had a 1hr massage on my shoulders, back & neck this morning. Ahhhh. The dude mentioned that although most of the knots have been kneaded out, it's just a start. I've booked myself in for a few more massages over the next few weeks.
Hopefully i can keep reminding myself to use my core muscles more :o. I know I make a conscious effort to do so when swimming.
Don't know if the massage got rid of some of the dizzy spells but i might find out tonight when i do some night laps.
I'd imagine you might find it here someplace.
I have him as a friend on Twitter. Want me to ask him?:D
Update: OK, I did ask him on twitter. Maybe one of his 'handlers' will see it and like it and pass it along? Good luck!
Pass the frozen Snickers, Chicago...and I sure wish I liked sewing as much as you do. It seems silly for me to be a weaver and not be comfortable with sewing.
Good morning TD'ers! :D
Mimi good luck with your painting and marketing it....it's just wonderful, you are SO talented.
It's 19 degreesF right now, but sunny.
I think I'll take my grocery bike down into town, lock it up on MainSt and have breakfast at Ralph's, then go for a brisk 4 mile fitness walk, then pick up some food goodies across from Ralph's at the Health food store, load up the bike and head up the hill back home.....thus combining a biking food run with a fitness walk!
I've never combined my biking and walking activities before....duh! Seems like a perfect combination for an outing.
Have a nice outing and enjoy the sunshine, bsg.
I'm off to Norway for the week-end...and there's snow!!! Yay! I get a taste of winter!
I have to drain my carburetors for the winter.
I put it off hoping I'd get a ride in while it was warmer - and now it just keeps getting colder. I've been sick with a bad cold and haven't wanted to work outside in the garage. I don't even know where my Carhartts are.
Then I have to wash my bicycle. Hope DH won't mind if I do it in the shower.
Dizzy spells are still round but not when biking *phew*
Ian bought a helmet cam the other day & i'd love to show you guys the track we ride for the 12hr event. How do i post it?
Oak-i'm sure it's ok to wash your bike in the shower. It needs love too :p
CC- I have occular migraines and I get tunneling vision and dizzy spells. I got to play guinea pig with an EEG, EKG, Holter Heart Monitor and blood tests before my latest neurologist and my current eye doctor diagnosed them. Oddly neither has suggested a treatment, maybe I should ask about that. They are bizarre but short lived. Mom gets vertigo so I guess I am lucky not to have that.
BSG- Your day sounds nice. Is that kind of a brick? :p
OL- I thought you were a snowbird, you have winter?
It is cold in Texas today and I hate it. Only supposed to get to 55 today, I need to move to the tropics it is too cold. :o
CC, do you have low blood prressure? I get faint when i get up too fast sometimes, sometimes a LOT! and have low bp.
Bleek, thanks. I've already sold 8 prints, I can't believe it!
Kgirl, i've been to those websites and left messages already. Maybe someone will write back to me some day?
today's my 5th commute not riding my bike. I'll be ready for Raleighdon when he gets back home. He's my security blanket. who knew!
Trek, i'll go back to that website again and see if there's a different crack in the door..
OH cool, Trek, actually i was able to submit the photo on that website!!!
Good Morning all!
I agree, sounds better than my day (but it is FRIDAY).
Done w/ running (for now) so may get in rides this weekend. But I,too, have a bit of the stuffy nose/sniffles and fear a cold has hit! But it's not bad! Chilly (ok, by my thin blood) here in Florida...but sunny. Would be perfect bike riding temp for north of here.
Big decision today...eat healthy soup I brought (canned) or go to cafeteria and be tempted! Soup would be good for the cold, but so would comfort food!:D
Have a great Friday to all!
I have an interesting bike shopping thought to solve. First I have to peek at the cycling facilities available at Curtin and what types of bikes are stored. I'm not riding my good bike there  Noone touches me bike  arrrrrr..
I know of a cheap shop on my way to the beach that may have me answer. Uni will be twice a week & it's a short hop from my house :)
CC, you're going to ride a UNICYCLE?:eek::eek:
Umm i think my post may have not made sense :o. Uni is the short term for university here in Australiaaaaaaaaaa
I don't think i'd be fast enough on a unicycle
CC- I knew what a uni was, I had a friend from the southern hemi.
Last time I was at the Walnut Creek Trail I saw a whole team of unicyclists mountain biking. They were on the extremely difficult Endo Valley. Didn't look like they knew what they were doing but they were having fun doing it.
Enchiladas and Dos Equis for dinner with my parents and handsome DH. I feel fat and mellow. Tomorrow is a 1st birthday party for my "niece". College roomies baby girl who is so stinking cute it might be a crime, should be fun.
CC - a nice cheap commuter bikes sounds like just what you need.
mmmmm. Friday night. A wee tiny drink of pineapple juice with a dash of raspberry vodka and malibu coconut rum. Then off to jiggle at belly dancing!
For once, we are staying home this weekend. The plan: reclaim the carport so we can park in there again! :o
Hugs and butterflies,
~T~
Hi everyone,
CC yes a cheap commuter or even a used mtn bike might be just the ticket for leaving locked up on campus. Get a heavy U-lock and cable or it may get stolen. :( Not sure how things are over there where you are but here the "unis" are hot spots for bike thieves.
Mimi- keep selling, and don't charge too little! :)
LBTC- hope you had fun jiggling in class. :D
I found as I started getting a bit older that it is wiser when i get out of bed to just sit up first with my feet on the floor and let my blood redistribute for about 8 seconds or so before I actually stand up and get out of bed. A couple of times the too-sudden change made me a bit dizzy, so now I ease the transition by a few seconds and let my blood adjust first.
I did do my walk and bike food run this morning very successfully. My right knee has been acting up though and I think I need to avoid the fitness walking (and certainly the jump roping) for a week or more now until it heals up. The biking doesn't seem to bother it, oddly enough. It's probably more of an impact induced stress. I think it's on the front side ligament on the inner side of my kneecap. Resting will help it.
We played music at our town's farmer's market/food co-op this afternoon, 5 of us. It's all inside now with this cold weather in the 30's every day. This is the new food co-op's first year open as a market for only locally produced foods- very exciting!
We ate home made real Mexican burritos with roast chicken and black beans, lovingly made by Magdalena. I bought a shopping bag full of local NY apples and I'm going to make some apple butter tomorrow for DH who just loves it on toast. Also got some fresh local organic apple cider, rye bread, beets, pea shoots, kale, potatoes, and red cabbage. Think I'll make a vegetable soup tomorrow too, while making the apple butter. That should be fortifying against the cold! :p
Hey CC I'm off to Aberdeen to see Canada play Scotland at rugby....well - Mr Bruno is going to the game and my friend and I are going to the pub:D
It's snowing in Aberdeen apparently.
Anyway - off to get the train.
Salsa - everytime I think of Aberdeen I think of your toothache.
C'mon S-C-O-T-L-A-N-D
I'm sure Canada might have a chance at scoring a few try's :). If they were playing The Wallabies or The All Blacks, it might be a bit different.
Good luck Scotland!!!
I think I may have found meself an older mtb frame to convert into a singlespeed commuter. :)
Full Metal Jacket is on SBS. The fist half of the film is hilarious! Many classic lines one can't repeat here...
So Bruno, who won??
It's a gorgeous sunny morning here in IL, and a balmy 14 degrees!
Yes it's in the teens this morning here in NY too!
I walked into town and back and had many layers of wool on. Stayed cozy.
It's icky gray overcast at my house, the kind of gray that leads to me wanting to stay in bed all day, and eat. But I did get out of bed!
Karen
It is ugly in Texas, grey and looks cold but I think it is 60. DH wants to go ride, I want to stay in the flannel pajamas all day.
Then compromise! Isn't that so important in marriage? :p
Ride in your flannel pj's ;) :) :D
It looks sunny from here. I have no idea how cold it is. I'm still on the couch. I just woke up about an hr ago. I had a late work night last night.
Kitties are busy snoring, just as their job description says they should.
Kit is at work. I'm debating getting a shower and actually leaving the apartment today. Or, I could clean, put a few things out of the way and put up the Christmas tree. Is it too early to put it up? It's fake. I'd really like to come home to lights and sparklies... well, I have the whole week off to contemplate.
Has anyone ever made Cornish Hens? My Mom has done them, but I have not. I am thinking of making some for the holiday since there are just two of us. Anything unusual I need to know about? Do ya think I could stuff them? Kit likes stuffing. They seem pretty small. I don't know what it would do to the bake time, if anything. Just curious.
I wouldn't stuff them, just use lots of chicken broth in a pan of stuffing on the side. They won't hold enough stuffing to make a good serving!. And make more than just two! You need leftovers. :)
Karen
I thought about just making turkey breast. I just love turkey. Kit thinks it will still be too much. I don't have any idea how you can possibly have too much turkey though. :D
With the homemade mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, lima beans, corn, noodles, biscuits, cranberries... http://www.clipartof.com/images/thumbnail/2444.gif
For all you rugby fans I have to report Scotland thumped Canada 41 - 0.
we even laid on some snow for them:rolleyes:
My advice would be to cook a small chicken instead.
Cornish Game hens are very yummy, especially with a fruity sauce, but if you think they are small when you buy them, then wait til they cook and shrink even more! Way too small to stuff, and they are a bit like eating squab. The drumstick has like only one bite of meat, for instance.
I always make roast chicken for Thanksgiving and Christmas because my family asks for it rather than turkey. They really like my roast chicken.
Try looking for one of those "natural" or vegetarian-fed chickens they sell nowadays. Even better, look for a free-range grown chicken. They are smaller (perfect for two people) and taste wonderful and are moist. Not cheap, but they are SO much yummier than those icky greasy fatty giant yellow Perdue chicken cannibal mutants that taste like stale plastic. eeeeewwwwww
A small natural chicken would be wonderful roasted, with stuffing on the side and cranberry sauce, sweet potato, maybe asparagus, and chicken gravy.
I make twin chickens this way for holiday meals, and then I have lots of good chicken meat left over for all kinds of stuff. At the very end, I pick over the last of the chicken and freeze little sandwich size bags of the meat pickings to make chicken soup later on.
If you like to try my roast chicken recipe, it's very easy and very good- I just sprinkle the whole chicken all over with equal parts paprika and Cajun seasoning (McCormick) and roast it at 350 for about an hour and 15 minutes. I don't stuff it because I'm paranoid about cooking meat thoroughly.
I make Stovetop stuffing separately, adding some celery, extra sage, and apple to it, then put the stuffing in a roasting pan next to the chicken, with a piece of foil covering the stuffing very loosely so it won't burn.
I've never made game hens, it's something I've wanted to try. Here's one recipe:
http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/ga...s_sprouts.html
Cook's Illustrated has a whole article on hens, along with recipes for two. I'm not sure the link will work, let me know and I'll send the recipes to you. They have Roasted Stuffed Hens for Two, Roast Butterflied Hens, Wild Rice Stuffing with Carrots, Mushrooms, and Thyme for Two, Wild Rice Stuffing with Cranberries and Toasted Pecans --- dang these are making me hungry! :)
I'm not into stuffing birds either for that very reason BSG. Just say no to pink chicken meat. :o I don't even like stuffing for the most part. I make it for Kit. I love roasting chickens. I have an injector and like to really inject a lot of the juices back in. I tend to brown the chicken first to sear in as much juice as possible and then cover it. Then inject back in what I can over the last 1/2 hr or so. I usually slide a few cloves of garlic and dash some spices on top too. It works for me. I really need some turkey though. I may just go the route of buying just the breasts and baking that. We have a lot of natural ones to pick from here. That's a plus living here compared to where I'm from. Back there, they love additives and fat.
I may keep the game hens for another meal just because I really love turkey leftovers for Thanksgiving. We went to visit friends last year and I tried the tofurkey. It tasted good but the texture was a little offputting. I knew it going in though so it didn't affect me too much. I've definitely come to like tofu more over the last year.
Tons to do on my week off and I still haven't left the couch. *sigh* Off to clean and make room for the tree...
A reasonably sized turkey breast won't be too much for 2, if you like leftovers. That's what we usually do. I do love cornish hens - my mom has a recipe where they're stuffed and quite yummy. Roast chicken is good too - but for Turkey-day you really need a turkey:) At least if you like them:)
We just cooked a tofurkey (as an experiment). I didn't mind the "meat" - I eat tofu, tempeh, etc all the time - but I really didn't like the stuffing. I've never seen a non-stuffed version. And I LOVE stuffing (but usually cooked separately).
CA
Snap, those recipes titles make me drool too! But- any stuffing you make for cornish hens would mostly have to go on the side since the stuffing cavity inside a cornish hen is about the size of a small chicken egg! :D
Well you sound like you already know your way around a roast chicken! That sounds really yummy. Just go with that and add cranberry sauce, gravy, etc. I'd say!
I know what you mean. Whenever I drive through your old home state the whole state seems to smell like french fries and/or sugar. (hope I'm not offending anyone, but hey) :rolleyes:Quote:

I'm afraid Tofu and I are arch enemies. :DQuote:

Cornish game hens, "just cut them up like regular chickens". A caution though, not for the faint hearted.
