Gramicci wool pants http://www.gramicci.com/Womens_Merin.../96080252.html
I don't like the path Gramicci has taken over the years. They used to be great active-wear pants. Now they are mall-crawler clothes. Plumber's butt. Why doesn't anyone make REAL pants anymore? whine whine whine...
Rivendell needs to make some lightweight wool MUSA pants, just to make me happy. It's all about me, y'know!
Rivendell makes pants? I thought they just made bikes?
If they weren't nylon, I'd've bought 'em already. Nylon and my overactive sweating ability don't mix well.

Might buy 'em for work anyway.
Can we go to Rivendell next weekend?
I scored a Smartwool mid-weight long-sleeve zip-neck shirt at Steep and Cheap a couple days ago. It's in the mail now. (Don't tell anybody, but I already had a long-sleeve zip-neck Merino shirt, but it wasn't Smartwool.)
Knot, I think the breathability of nylon pants depends on how the fabric is made. All hiking pants these days are nylon, and hikers sweat alot and wear the same pants for 5 days straight without washing.
Knotted, where does it say what the MUSA pants are made of? I can't find that info?
Trek, Rivendelll doesn't "make" the pants, they just sell them along with other biking accessories and parts. Also, maybe they commission them to be made just for Rivendell to sell, like they do with some saddlebags and such.
Well, dang! They don't say anywhere on the website! I've got the 2006 paper catalog here, and it says "featherweight brushed nylon."
On the website the MUSA shorts come in one color and in two-tone (with olive crotch gusset and pocket splices). Looks like the pants come only in two-tone. Which is ok with me, cuz I sweat so much on the bike that it looks like I've got two-tone pants on anyway.
I'm just a gratuitious sweat-er.
Anybody know how unbreathable brushed nylon is? I had a pair of brushed nylon pants from Columbia Sportwear once, and they had mesh inserts for ventilation. They still held in the sweat and they pilled up pretty badly. I'm thinking Rivendell might be more picky about the quality of their fabric. I hope.
I hate pilly clothing!!!
Just got my Ibex order, a BEautiful persimmon switchback pullover and the Meru hat. The persimmon is a lovely color, it is a darker coral in person than on my moniter. It is nice and bright, a nice change after all those dark winter colors I have been wearing. The wool has a nice texture, is not too thick or thin, I have actually worn it outdoors today and not been cold at all, and am still wearing it in the house and not been too hot. Does that make sense?? This piece of Ibex is actually long enough, I bought the switchback in L and the sleeves are over my hand, and the length is actually 26" long, not tunic length on me (I am a long torsoed 5'8") but mid hip length, so I am soooo happy! I just might have to get another in a different color, but gotta let the CC rest for this month now. The meru hat will be warm under my helmet, and a good deal at $10. I just wish that Ibex would post length measurements on their websites for their stuff so I don't have to always email them. Some of their stuff is just too short for me.
Hooray!
I love my Switchback jacket and my Meru helmet liner!
Now you're making me want (even more) the charcoal gray Switchback pullover.
It makes perfect sense that wool is comfortable inside and outside, as it breathes so well and temerature regulates so well. I usually wear my Switchback as a jacket, but often wear it inside as a sweater.
Waiting for my backordered Twizel shirt from Ibex.
Must. not. buy. more. Ibex. YET.
Hey, weird coinkidink...I'm wearing my charcoal switchback pullover RIGHT THIS SECOND!!!!!
Yes, one of the nicest things about real wool is how it adapts to the temps- keeps you warm when it's cold, breathes when it's not so cold.
I have a few things in the persimmon color- including the switchback pullover and the switchback vest. VERY cool to have matching sweater and vest...and cool to be able to double up the wool warmth by adding the vest on top of the sweater. I like how visible the persimmon color is on the bike in traffic.
OOOOOh, love that idea, matching vest and pullover....and matching wooly baselayer....this list could go on and on. Also just loved the switchback in the green.....unfortunately it was on backorder until May...or maybe that is fortunately. I am with Knotted.. must not buy any more Ibex....must NOT!
Haven't used your REI dividend, or 20% off coupon yet? Here's the answer! Socks you can wear with your Chaco Z-2's!!!!

I intend to buy some of these puppies tomorrow. Maybe I'll even go to the great huge REI flagship store in downtown Seattle! (anyone else remember the old days? the creosote floor of the REI building on Capitol Hill? Military surplus and unique goodies? sigh...)
One pair of these will leave me with just a smidgen of dividend. So maybe I'll buy a pack of Clif Bloks as well.
I already have a pair of Not-Wool Injinjis, and I love them. My toes love them. My feet as a whole love them. My Chaco Z-2s love them in a big and whole-hearted way.
Unless someone else comes up with a wool or wool-blend tabi sock, I'm gonna be an Injinji weenie for a while.
Edit: someone tell these folks to make some wool tabis, eh? http://www.solsocks.com/styles.htm
