Does Bean like duct tape? ;)
He eats plastic out of the garbage (a mistake we'll try not to do again!), so I'm guessing duct tape would be yummy with a delightful chewy texture! Doggie bubble gum!:D
Apparently 'Cuda finds the taste of duct tape to be not altogether objectionable, but not nearly as delightful as fake leather bootie. We'll be doing the bandage in the next half hour. Wish us luck.
Oh, and after weeks of feeling awful on this new diet that's supposed to make me better, I have broken the diet. I am enjoying a glass of wine with my honey flavoured goats milk yogurt. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired, so there it is. I wonder how I'll feel tomorrow.
And I wonder if the bandage covered with the extra protection of sock and duct tape will make it through the night.
The things that make me go hmmmmmm

Now that I'm home I can post e-collar pix. Chloe had one last year when she had corneal ulcers. HATED IT! Two collar stories.
She woke me up in the middle of the night, rubbing her eyes - big no-no. So on went the collar. I swear she sat on the bed and stared at me for hours after. You haven't lived until you've been glared at for hours by a corgi.
Another time she had it on after seeing the eye doctor. She had to go outside, it was raining. I figured she'd run out, pee, run back in. When she didn't appear at the door, I went looking for her. She was sitting in the middle of the lawn, head hanging down, rain running off the collar. She looked absolutely pitiful. I went out and removed the collar - she bounced across the yard, peed, then ran indoors.
haha Snap! funny how they do that! :D
She looks like a martini.
And I thought chocolate martinis were strange. That was before I heard of the Corgi Martini. http://www.websmileys.com/sm/drink/trink32.gif http://www.websmileys.com/sm/drink/trink32.gif http://www.websmileys.com/sm/drink/trink32.gif
mmm corgi martini.
probably lots like a dirty martini
+ hair. :D:D :D
Happy birthday, Snap!
Mmmmmmm. If you are anywhere near a Cheesecake Factory, go in and have a Chocolate Martini. They are *The Best*
I've had my share of corgi-hair-in-the-mouth moments. Not pleasant, I cannot recommend the corgi martini....
Birthday started off sucky, but then I called into work and told 'em to p!ss off for the day. :D
Happy Birthday, Snap! And what an excellent call to make on today of all days! Work can wait! :D
We loved your Chloe collar stories! I can totally see her!
'Cuda is no longer looking like a ballerina, but he is walking on his foot less. Part of me thinks this is a good thing. He's got a proper bandage on, covered by a sock which is fairly liberally (not as much as before) duct taped on. We'll replace the sock probably every evening and morning, and hope to replace the bandage every second day. He would so much rather be playing with the soccer ball right now!
heh, and so would I. I would have loved to skip work today, but fear the consequences of each missed day. Can you say huge pile of work that I can't see the bottom of? :D
Oh, and I feel better than yesterday. So is that from the sunshine, or from the 1/2 glass of wine last night?

Happy B-D Snap!:p
I want a chocolate martini right now. I have white crema de cacao. Hmm....
You could try this fish bowl type contraption.
I guess it's better because it doesn't have any sharp edges! heh
Well, we were wrong, and I feel bad about it, since the solution was right in front of us. Not my preferred option, but it is so far appearing as if it would have worked.
Got home today and he had chewed through all layers. His foot does not look good. We'll have to bring him back to the vet in the morning. Diva is going in for her teeth cleaning, so they can keep each other company I guess.
Well, it finally dawned on us that maybe if we drug him up with the demerol he'll stop wanting to chew it. Sure enough - it only takes a few minutes for the drugs to kick in and he's very relaxed, laying on the floor, not interested in licking the darned foot anymore. Now why did we not try this sooner????
Dang!
Anyway, hopefully he hasn't done so much damage that he'll have to lose his toe. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. Now it's cuddle time.
Hugs and stoned butterflies,
~T~
Oh, man. Ya know, if you just go ahead and do that to your cat, the neighbors call the animal cops and have you drug away. But if you buy something that is sold to do the exact same thing, now it's called therapeutic.
I love the pic of your dog Snap. Makes me want to go mix up a martini right now. Oh, and I agree, chocolate martinis are one of my favorite drinks. (hint, hint Dar - um, hold the hair please )
LBTC - I'm so sorry to hear Cuda is liking the duct tape too. Duct tape is still our friend... :D *points a finger* Shush Kit. I wasn't thinking that. :p
Cool avatar, Xrayted (and Kit, too)
*X sneaks in* Bueller? Bueller?
oh, there he is... c'mon, ya know ya wanna twist and shout :D :D
Then there's the cute little story about the kids coming out of Ferris Beuller's Day Off going, "Hey, did you hear that song from that new band "The Beatles"?
snork.
Love those Urban Legends!
(oh, and the folks coming out of "Apollo 13" saying "why didn't they just send the space shuttle up for the astronauts?")
I used to have several books of those urban legend collections. Unfortunately I lost *custody* of them....
Well, Knot, it's not the same thing, but you can just go to Snopes.com
and they have a lot of them.
category by category..
I love this song. It's probably one of my favourites. I can't decide which version I like best.
This one by Postal Service:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0sEJQebtWA
or this one by Iron and Wine:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wP3shDm9***
EDIT: ok that last one's link has A$$ at the end. You'll have type it in manually. LOL...
I think I prefer the slower version, especially the harmonies.
I play it a little faster myself, somewhere between the two. Maybe I should put myself on Youtube someday. LOL...
There is an utterly beautiful version of a Coldplay song by a group of instrumentalists called "Twelve Chinese Girls" that Trek and I found on a CD in a little music shop in Half Moon Bay.
Not only do I seem to have lost the CD (don't tell Trek!) but I can't seem to find a link of any sort anywhere. Bummer.
You what? :o
http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/asiapc...s.12girlsband/
Is it this band?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sErIRK-bVq0
Ok, that's just cool.
yes!!! oh, it breaks my heart that I can't find that CD! The Coldplay song doesn't seem to be in YouTube.
The song is "Clocks" from the album "Eastern Energy" by 12 Girls Band. It's available on iTunes. I might just have to buy it if I can't find the CD. Honestly, I like the 12 Girls version better than Coldplay's original version.
Drift - Weird day. I've been saying for several years now that I need to find a new line of work, twelve years of wading hip deep in human misery is enough. I've worked with mentally ill homeless folks all that time and I'm FRIED.
Well today was my last day in social services as I've decided to follow a new path. I've been sitting here sobbing tonight feeling as though I'm letting my clients down, how dare I abandon them to the ravages of "the system". I'm grieving and raging and crying...I guess I don't know how to be this other person I aspire to, hopefully sleep and time will help. :(
No-one can save everyone. And you've helped MANY over the last years. More than any of us could ever hope to reach.
If you are suffering, are you lessening the suffering of the world? (I stole that from the Dalai Lama)
Sleep. Give it the night to settle a little.
Be who you are and it will all work out. (Find "Wild Geese" by Mary Oliver. It's on TE twice.)
Sleep well.
So I've been meaning to post this for awhile. This song always makes me think about my sisters. I actually prefer a version that Jane Siberry does with KD Lang. It's available on iTunes but not on youtube.
Here's a Six Feet Under reference that may explain why it makes me think about all the women out there that make up my family, my support:

and here's the full song done by Jane:

X's post earlier this week made we want to put this out there.
I just caught Queen's post. This goes out to you too.
Is this the song that inspired Train's "Calling all Angels?"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NO_825km6uY
(umm, would I be crass to say I like Train's song a whole lot?)
I really like that song too Knott. But it's not the same song. Maybe inspired by, who knows.
Which came first? I don't know how to search that down. I'm thinking the Train was in 2003 or 2004.
I really like the line "I won't give up, if you don't give up." Snif. I'm such a sap...
And though I couldn't find an original Train music video, I like the video I did find. I've heard things aren't much improved in N.O. even now. "Travesty" comes to mind...
I think the Jane Siberry song is much older. I want to say mid to late 90's. I'm going to track it down. It's very Lilith Fair.
Queen, it is here. It helped me a lot. :D It's important to remember that our patients/clients aren't the only people we make an impact in during our day. There is the unknown schmoe who we walk past and give a little grin to. The guy next to us on the bus who is obvoiusly having a bad day. We give a little nod of 'I know how you feel buddy' and visibly see his shoulders relax a hair. The older woman who may need a hand under her elbow to keep her balance. Some like your clients, need more, something more tangible. But maybe had they had that initial eye contact, nod, a helpful touch, or a grin from people to begin with, things may not be so bad for them now. One never knows. I smile at everyone I pass at the hospital. I get to know everyone's name... from RN's and docs to housekeeping and the cafeteria. There are many total strangers out there that you can still impact in subtle but important ways. Caring is infectious and it can create miracles... good luck in your new career.
Take care Queen.
And remember to smile. :D
Knott - The Jane Siberry and KD Lang version of Calling all Angels is available on an Anthology that was released in 2002. So I think it pre-dates the Train song. Though, crass or not, I really like train too.
Queen, your depth of feeling is admirable, and I can't help thinking no wonder you feel fried! You do need the break! If it feels like you are letting others down, remember that if you are compromising yourself, you can't help them as effectively anymore. Your career change will do you a world of good, and, as others have said, you will help people in other ways.
Hugs and peaceful butterflies,
~T~
