So I spent today stripping my old bike from when I was 10 down to the frame. My god it weighed a ton. I almost dropped it on my parents car as I took it off the ceiling hooks in their garage. :D Not much to salvage, other than a nice steel frame, fork and chrome handlebars. I'm going to leave the tape off so they're nice and old school. The bike is from like 1984 or something ridiculous. The frame is a bit small, but with a raised seatpost I'll be fine. Going to make it a fixed gear for my winter commuter. It's a freakin' Columbia bike. I had to google them to figure out who they were: http://www.columbiabikes.com/detpages/10009.html
Currently I think I'm high from paint fumes. It'll be a rough morning :rolleyes:

Had dinner at Cattlemen's tonight. Best durn ribeye I've had in ages, with deep fried onions and mashed potatoes (into which I mixed in a bit of blue cheese dressing).
Ahhhhh. transcendent.
But my doctor would slap me. My cholesterol came back on the high side from my recent blood test - 218. oops. :o But at least my "good" (HDL) cholesterol came well on the high side - yay for salmon and omega-3/fish oil supplements.
Another day, another job interview... only 7ish miles away, so I can easily commute, 8-5ish job... *crosses fingers*
lots of travel involved, though... Arizona, Hawaii, Vegas... event & expo planning. *shrugs*
It'll sure be interesting if I get it.

Beta, you're not really going to ride with an untaped bar are you? That might be dangerous. I don't recall untaped bars as ever being a fad or "old school" or used by anyone who cared about their bike or their safety. And I'm a lot older than you.Quote:

Debw- I don't remember anyone ever riding without tape, either. I always had tape. The bar would slip if you didn't have any. I tore my wimpy plastic tape a few times, and it was miserable trying to hold the bare metal. We just didn't do that in the 70's and 80's here. Maybe it was a fad somewhere else.
