Well, we got lulled into believing the weather forecasters, and got caught unprepared. DH did not bring his work home today, and he is not leaving the house for a while (nor am I!)
what will he do? What will I do? It's beautiful out and COLD! 28 degrees is NOT a turning to rain temperature..
the snow is accumulating on everything since the ground is well frozen.
Ya know, I can't even figure out which one to post in anymore.... :o
CWR - congrats on the shower!! Feels good, doesn't it? As for the cute foot, it is just trying to keep up with the rest of your cuteness. And on the xray vision thing... I can't go there. I don't want to have to explain how I can tell what color undies people are wearing. (or not wearing ;)) BTW, nice blue bikinis there **mumble mumble**. :eek:

Queen - I feel for you on the hammer guy. I can see how that would be maddening. Next time, try a really nice pneumatic nail gun. You could probably nail him from 50 feet away and have some peace and quiet. :eek: :D
Salsa - I really hope you get to bring your kitties home soon. The offer is still there for the kneecapping of the contractor. Kit is just waiting for a new assignment. Don't want her to lose her skills now... :cool:

Jeez, my school district is closed again today. It's a measure of the construction symphony (the air compressor concerto, etc.) that I really, really didn't want another snow day. Got the earplugs in already. Plan to try driving over to the library later with the laptop if it gets too bad. Aughh. Enough already.
X, let's not kill the contractor as long as they're actually here getting work done...wait for inactivity as the signal...
It's actually looking really nice. They're in the middle of laying new white oak hardwood floors. It's very cool.

I showed the dermatologist some itchy little bumps on my elbow and got a biopsy for my trouble (nothing scary--maybe gluten sensitivity, but I don't think so). My life is just a series of adventures.

It's been a lovely sunny, crisp and frosty day - what we should be having at this time of year. Unfortunately I was supposed to be 'working at home' :rolleyes: and couldn't get out on my bike.
Oh yes, and my window cleaner, who has been AWOL for the past couple of months finally showed up. Hmmm, maybe it wasn't as dark and overcast as I thought it was out there :o Scared the living daylights out of me suddenly appearing at my study window!

Decided to try driving in after all, but I'm taking all my walking-in-snow gear, just in case.

we had some really strong winds last night and rain. so its slick outside. there is even more ice for me to fall on. great......
i'm back at work today, yawning, i can't stop. i got to use to sleeping in! :eek: then again i never knew how much effort it took to really get ready in the morning. i'm wiped! keep putting my foot up on my desk every few minutes. its throbbing a bit. hmmm.... pain pills are probably not helping with the drowsiness. oh well. i'm here attempting to work. not like i do much more on a regular day. ;)

Yak Trax! I snapped 'em on and walked, into full gale wind and driving snow, about 2 miles to my spin class, then another mile home. It's all about the gear, ladies. A good snug hood, wool under, windproof over, and yak trax on your boots. Only time that wasn't enough was once when we had a thin membrane of water on top of ice and the wind drove me backwards downhill so I had to grab onto a power pole and hang on for dear life. But those conditions are rare.Quote:

I'll do my lactic acid workout on Thursdays and do the recovery class that follows hers if I want to do a Tuesday session.
p.s. Got home to a "disappointed" dh. He'd been looking forward to salmon leftovers. Had taken a clearly labelled carton out of the freezer last night. Gets home and gets to work on his dinner and what does he find in the carton ... chocolate cake. :p He made himself a ham&cheese sandwich instead. I had ham&eggs. Now it's tea and cake time. :D

I think the other cartons labeled "salmon leftovers" really are salmon leftovers. This one just got put in the freezer without a label update. ;) Nice cake though. chocolate with chocolate frosting. Kept well in the freezer. Still very tasty. Now I get to test whether chocolate is a migraine trigger for me. Hope not.
Oh, and the weather isn't all that heroic. Gale winds and snow, yes, but not all that cold even with wind chill factored in. So all it really took was the right gear and a bit of patience trudging into the wind over the "barren Strinda" (Snaustrinda) flats.

mmmmm....salmon. My favorite, along with tuna and swordfish. Being landlocked really fresh fish is a treat!
DoW: I know what you mean (I think) my 6:am spinning instructors, and most of the participants, are cyclists, so they treat thier classes as such. My gym changed schedules that so that doesn't work with my training schedule anymore, and the damn Tues. pm instructor treats class like an aerobics class. I hate that! Bad music, yell, yell. yell...It does nothing for cycling. On the contrary, my Thurs. am instructor, my only salvation, is a hard core racer that incorprates our spinning class into his training! Thank goodness for that, otherwise I'd have to pay for a coach!

CWR - did you have a cast? I had both feet done waaay back in '78 and had casts up to my knees on both feet for at least a month. I just remember how painful it was the first couple of days in the hospital. I'm guessing they've improved the procedure since then?
KG i have one of those black moon-boot looking cast things that i can take on and off. i don't wear it more often than i do. i have it on if i'm going to be up for a long time or going somewhere. or if i try to put any weight on my foot i make sure the cast is on. i've been trying to put about 1/3 of my weight on it. any more and it gets a little sore.
what i think is neat is they gave me a cyro cuff. highly recommend it. brought it to work with me today to help with the swelling and pain.
a wonderful day at the office. no one is around. they all went to a city crisis meeting so its only me. :cool: glad i didn't go though, listening to the rain and wind outside, glad i don't have to put up with it!

Well it's cold and snowy here in Kelowna today. Been snowing all day and is supposed to continue for at least another day. It's pretty though, and not super cold (-5 c?)

With the weather in America(the continent) lately, who knows? I did'nt ride this morning beacause I kept running into Ice patches yesterday from people leaving their sprinklers on overnight. Turns out, it did not get that cold:o , plus I get ride in the daylight tommorrow:) well, hopefully. I've got a hair appt. and then I have to talk to a job recuiter who sent me an unsolicted e-mail. don't much about the postion right now, but it is a company that has a good reputation to work for. The only problem is that might wind with an even longer commuttee....

I am SO envious Crazy! We got another 6" of snow today and more on the way..... I love the snow, but I am looking forward to spring this year like I have for no other. This is my first winter as a cyclist. I miss my poor bike...

Am I the only one who gets "girly" about their bike accessories not looking crappy? I want to add fenders and a rack to my hybrid to make it a commuter and all I can find is ugly black fenders. My bike is a gorgeous blue and silver...black fenders just won't do. :p
Mine is a gorgeous blue and silver too, and I agree, I like things to match it. I'm not a girly-girl by any stretch of the imagination, except for this one thing. :)
