I am soooo SICK of the weather here. If it's not pouring rain it's gale force winds or a combination of both. It's pretty much been like this since Christmas so there has been zero opportunity to get out on my bike and its driving me crrrrazzzy.
Plus I have five stitches in my head due removal of a mole so can't wear a cycling helmet anyway.:mad:

It's another icy/rainy/grey day here in Central IL...we're planning on a lazy day around the house watching movies. It had been so long since we've rented any movies our vid club card was expired...on the plus side that means practically every movie in the place is "new" (we only go to a movie every two or three years). :D

until this winter, rain was no big deal. we get 32" a year average. but then last year we got 49". Rain instead of being a soft gentle annoyance became an ugly monster that unleashed trees and flooded down streets. A lady DROWNED here because a torrent flooded into her basement sound studio.
Our rain and our typical weather is something you can really ignore.
But Starting in NOVEMBER of '06, it became rather hard to ignore.
Normally, in January, we have ominous dark clouds (the sun doesn't get high enough to shine through them) but you can ride your bike. But not when it's FROZEN! There's still ice on some major streets, not too bad in a car but on a bike, it could mean broken ribs.
I'd rather have our (NORMAL) rain back.
In the summer is when I really appreciate Seattle's weather. While everyone else is dying, we're wearing longsleeved jerseys and raincoats... but not always. we get hot days too. just not very many.
That's so surprising to me...I always thought of Seattle as a very rainy place but we average 42-46 inches of rain a year here in Central IL. So you get beautiful scenery, a relatively mild winter, and less rain than us??? Well crap. :(

Oh yes, it is also very flat here as well. We had tornados right around Christmas.
I love the weather here. You can ride through the winter---always excepting our current totally aberrant icy streets---and the summers are glorious and not too hot. It's really wonderful.
They are sawing and hammering over my head. Can't go to work or the library because both are closed. Am sticking around to see if the cats are going to be so stressed out by the noise (laying new hardwood floors, hammering on window trim) that I'll have to take them to the boarding place. I think I'm more stressed so far than they are. Ugh.
Noise really bothers my cats too Salsa. Even from the television (I should leave it on during the day when i'm not home just to get them used to it.)
We dismantled my office, the bookshelves, closet, everything. I thought the disorder would scare the cats. NOPE they loved it. They jumped into every box, checked out all the new empty space...
But when i stamp the snow off my shoes when i come into the house, they freak!
I feel for you Salsa. Our old neighbor decided to rebuild his back porch and lay new decking, the probelm was he had no skill whatsoever with carpentry (I grew up a carpenters daughter and have decent skills), so every single nail he sunk took about 50 whacks from the hammer...it went on for WEEKS! No no no--I'm good at math calculation, statistics, etc. I like that stuff. It's only the visual-spatial stuff like geometry that I can't do well. Mr. Salsa the engineer is the world's best fix-it guy, baby MacGyver--but doesn't have woodworking skills either. Very handy with gadgets, computers, machines, and sticking stuff together that has fallen apart, though.Quote:

i took the bandage off my foot and it looks very good. i have a cute foot again. so happy. doesn't seem to be swollen and it seems to be healing on the outside very nicely.
so now.... does anyone have x-ray vision that can see how the bone is healing?

IT was 17 degrees when I went to play tennis last night - probably about 25 in the tented "heated" tennis court area. And, I started playing tennis for something to do when it is too cold to ride?
