Dang! Here I spent a whole year in WI ... and nuthin' happened! What a wasted opportunity!

Well, since Veronica says there is no good weather in California to be sent my way either, I went home at lunch and put tires on my old road bike and realized that I had an old saddle on it right now - don't know how long I can ride that saddle on the trainer - mmm we shall see.
It wasn't that bad - I just don't want to ride the trainer again for months
I hate this time of year.
I learned this weekend that the gal who I cannot stand is going to teach the Foundation Cycling spinning class this year - I just cannot stomach listening to her for a 75 minute class - she never shuts up and she is always talking about how she did something better than the person before her! Gag me
[QUOTE=Trek420;157224]I can pay my mortgage at Good Will? Maybe they will take the pile of Socks Without Partners in exchange for this months payment? :)
Ahh, such a funny girl, that Trek! But an interesting thought....especially after a few chocolate martini's:p I've been listening to lots of audio books lately in the vehicle. Now I actually look forward to the drive to and from work! But the Linda Armstrong book I read. Now I'm listening to Tuesdays with Morrie in the car and a book on organizing my life at home. Apparently, I'm debris challanged - how did they know?? Good luck with your test!
Duck, my apologizes on not hunting you down while you were here! I just discovered the martini bar in the last couple months - the perk there is no smoking allowed and there's always a cool 2-3 piece band playing. Very interesting clientel for central Wisconsin so I like the culture of the place.
BMo3 - anytime you want to run away you're welcome here. My oven works, the blender works, and I have two cuddley dogs who love to walk/run in the woods.
Central WI? Where were you?
Wausau - Kelly's martini bar. Where were you??
Hey, hey, hey!! How did I get left out of this drunken debauchery? I wanna come along and play too!! I loooove chocolate martinis. And B-52's. And, well, basically anything with rum in it. ****This part has been deleted so I don't get kicked off TE. Thank you.****
(You know I just can't help myself. And it's all your fault, Kit! Don't start none, won't be none.)
Read this one while you can b/c it is definitely getting deleted! hehe. :D :D No Snapping either!!
X - you are welcomed with opened arms as well! Everyone is. Heck, party at Dar's house and we'll just take a bus to the Martini bar:p
How about this? The last weekend of July I will need 3 volunteers to be on a 4 x 24 hour mtb race. The remainder of you will be crew and support personnel. At the end of the race, HUGE party for the next day or so for my 40th birthday. How does that sound?? Any takers??
Well, quoting it as I heard it. ;)
X, you simply *must* stop mumbling so much. Can't hear a word you say.
You just know I'm always good for startin' sh*t. :D ;)
*edited for the sensitive* "OH! Hey, look what I found!" (best way to change a subject...)
For Flaming B-52s, substitute a dark high-proof rum for the Grand Marnier. The higher alcohol content is required for igniting the flame. Filling the glass to the edge reduces the amount of glass exposed to the flames, making it less likely to break, but is easier to spill the drink. For that reason, combined with the risk of burning the hand, the glass should remain on the bar, and a straw is used to sip the drink. Once ignited by the bartender, the drink should be consumed quickly to avoid overheating the glass. Unless the flame is extinguished prior to drinking, a fireproof straw, such as one made of aluminum, must be used.
Dar- Wausau... isn't that kinda far east for 'central' wi? I was thinking Stevens' Point or Appleton or Eau Claire? My WI geography is getting messed up, though.
anyone see Transamerica, the movie? it was very good. This teenaged street kid orphan finds his real dad, someone ready to have a sex change operation, and discovered that this "freak" is the best, most rational and safe person in his life. It was very well done.
*sigh* yes ma'am. ;) I just kinda left in a hurry and haven't really looked back, so to speak. I think you're better off with me a-waaaay over here. ;)
Hey Kit! Hee hee hee. :o :D Thanks for the mumble. **Phew!**
speaking of wisconsin.... you know your from wisconsin when your parents send you a christmas gift package with REAL wisconsin cheese. :D
You know you're from Wisconsin when not only do you get Real Wisconsin cheese, but further, Dad opens the xmas card with "Achtung, ___meister! (oh, hell-no is anyone going to know what daddy's full nickname for me is. HA!)
ANNND they debate how to send you venison etc. :D
Man, I'm missin' the venison, too...
X- *puffs up a little* uh huh. ;) I'll *mumble* anytime. 'specially with Dirty Girlscouts, though... ;)
Hopefully the picture is not huge.
My "living room"
hey, that looks like progress! (and like hundreds of photos my DH the adjuster has taken )
Jen, things are going to get better!
Thanks Mimi! The fans and the dehumidifyer are so loud. I have a nasty migraine and plan to drown my sorrows in Chinese food-lots of it. :o
It looks as though the insurance company is declaring my carpet a total loss.
We will know more tomorrow.
Jennifer,
Like mimi said, things will get better!
Even though it's a HUGE pain in the A** and couldn't come at a worse time, costs you money you may not have right now, upsetting, etc, try to keep it in perspective....it's just a piece of rug. Far less awful than a loved one having an accident or breaking a leg or something.
Put in some earplugs, have some warm milk and honey, curl up under the warm blankets and try to get a good night's rest. Things will seem less overwhelming tomorrow. :o
Queen-Thanks. :) I will be relieved when everything is over.
Lisa-you are right, in the grand scheme of life, there are far worse things that can happen. Yet right now, this is my reality and while it may not seem like much, it is a major life stressor for me and my family.
Yes it IS a huge and nasty stress! That's why I try to think of comforting thoughts for you to think instead.... :)
We had a flood 8 years ago where they had to pull up all the carpeting and put those huge fans too, but all through the downstairs...things got back to normal faster than we thought they would.
((((bmo))))
MMmmmmmm Chinese and thai are SO good. Tonight, I've got Chow Mai Fun. Ranks right up there with Sum Yun Gai and Miang Kum salad. :D
Alright..which one of you ladies sent Perth rain & cooler weather. It's only 20C...
Umm Deb & MP, what news story are you ladies talkin bout? I have a clue but can you pm me the link?
I'm keeping my fingers crossed Ian will ok my plan to visit North America in May/June...:D I just need to decide..Indy 500 in Indianapolis or F1 in Montreal, Van or INdianapolis..As i don't have my map of the US on my work computer, how far is bloomington from indianapolis??
I can see a TE TD meet up in the near future. Must go and visit a travel agent & see if it's going to be cheaper to buy a Round the world ticket...It's expensive to fly from perth and might as well...
CWR..can you venture on down if i venture up to N america?
c
Dar: That sounds like a plan! I can pick up X and Jen on my way...I even have MTBs to go around :D Just have the bus ready...we could throw you a 40th bifthday TD style! Just tell the bartender to move over, Kit's coming to town! And CWR, of course we won't forget you...my Beetle floats if need be!
Well, I am not sure why they're being vague but I guess I will be too. All you need to do is visit www.boston.com and see what our state government was up to today...
and yeah, it's pretty vexing.
Come on up to Canada - it's legal up here! :)
The Canadians already kicked my people out:

:p
Moving to Canada:
I often consider it. I grew up right on the border, and sometimes I feel more Canadian than U.S.
**geek entertainment** I dumped my Norton Systemworks and changed to Kapersky Internet Security. I'm getting these little !!notice!! thingies showing what bad guys it has stopped. They pop up for about 30 seconds, then kinda fade away......Big Fun in my house tonight! :o
Phishing???
I keep getting an email that says "Reset your Windows Live password". I do not have a Windows Live Account. I don'y want to reply as it requests in case it's a phishing expedition. It looks pretty real though. Anyone heard of this as spam?

When someone finds a way to mess with Macs, I will be so sad. I'm really enjoying the "open-source/other programming language" benefits of Mac. I don't understand it (other than the analogy that PC viruses trying to get into a Mac are like a man speaking Japanese trying to boss around a man who only speaks Russian) but I like it.
I hear ya. We just changed frm Macs to PCs at our school, against the lab instructor and my fierce opposition, and we've had nothing but problems. Plus the SD is no longer servicing or upgrading macs so I have to make do with my imac running 0S 9  at school. I'm tempted to secretly install 0S10 myself but I don't think it has enough RAM...
Anyhoo, I have never had a virus. I've heard there are a couple of mac viruses out there but so far, none here... I'm more worried about getting an overload of spam by replying to emals that are simply looking to see if it's a valid address...
Sounds like phishing to me. If you DID have a WL account, I would suggest writing to the WL service folks separately, not as a reply to the mail but look up their contact info and send them a separate message. Since you don't have an account, I would simply assume it's a phishing expedition and delete it. And for all you mac folks out there ... don't be so smug. There may not be a lot of mac viruses, but phishing and spam are non-discriminatory.
I've got a bad feeling about this....
When I was hired the clinic where I work was planning to open a 2nd clinic. That didn't happen.
Yesterday I learned they are thinking of moving out of half the space they rent now, because they can't afford it.
Anybody with business experience who can chime in and tell me if this is common in business? I don't have enough knowlege, so I'm just fretting.
