KG - don't get me wrong, it was a good film. Not one you'd want to see if you are having a down day though.
Now that I know I can go to a movie on my own (:rolleyes: ), next up is either The Queen or Pan's Labyrinth.
Yesterday I went shopping and bought myself new slippers - they are wonderfull! They're by Acorn, called Chinchilla Booties. Wool on the outside, and soft fake fur on the inside! Call me toasty toes!:D

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I read the book when it came out several years ago (kind of a departure for P. D. James). The book was pretty intense - I can only imagine what the movie is like. I'm glad to see you recommend it.Quote:

Gotta be up early tomorrow to bake pies. 14 guests coming over to taste haggis (UK and her Scottish bf brought some over, at my dh's request) with neeps and tatties. Cherry pies for dessert :)

Hey all. Happy New Years! I'm fading fast but trying to say awake one.... more.... hour.... Just spent all afternoon and evening working and programming and translating grids and getting a model run started for a calculation that will take 2+ weeks of CPU time and needs to be done in 2-3 weeks. Finally got it going at 11 pm. Now my brain is fried. I did have a good morning, though. Babysat for my nephews last night and woke up at their house this morning, which meant I got to play in the snow with the 3 year old. And the 5-month old just got over the "I don't want anyone but mommy to hold me" phase, so he as a delight also.

And as I watched the old episodes tonight, Xena flinging people across rooms and slashing swords around, I thought to myself, "sh*t, Trek can do it better than that!"

I watched the Garrison Keillor countdown (the most subdued countdown ever!) all by myself. SOMEONE was so fast asleep she slept through it and through me calling to wake her up to wish her happy new year. She was doing great right up until the last 15 or 20 minutes.
Oh well, at least I got to kiss the dog.
People were letting off tons of fireworks around here and getting into loud drunken fights in the apt parking lot and driving up and down (and up and down and up and down) the lot sqealing their tires.

Well, 2007 so far has not been good. :( Our Christmas tree stand leaked for a month :eek: , so when we assumed our tree was dinking a lot, it was actually dumping water into our living room carpet. :eek: :eek: We tried steam cleaning the molded area several times, but the mold smell is strong. DH is unaffected by mold (no clue why), but the boys and I have extremely strong reactions.
Options, options, what are the options? We cannot afford to replace the carpet. :o We can cut out the molded are and place foam in the hole and cover with a throw rug (tres chic, I know). We could try to peel back the carpet, take out the molded padding, and stretch the carpet, to the best of our ability, back in place. It will not be taught though. :( Final option leave it and hope we do not suffer too terribly. Last option really is not an option.
So do we go with option number one or option number two? Either way, my living room will look gawd awful. :o :(
Anyone have any ideas on how to mask the tragedy that is about to happen up?
sop with a mix of vinegar and baking soda. Vinegar has natural antibacterial properties and should work to kill the mold as well. The foaming action should help loosen it from the fibers as well. Afterward, blot with water and absorb as much as you can...
