So this is what his Swiss Army pigeon carrier looks like, put together. He is very comfortable in it. The other end is the same, for another pigeon. I bought it on eBay...
CWR- Excellent!!
Snap-, what is the world coming to.

Just watch. Next off, I'm going to crash off my bike, lose (most) limbs, and tell my biking buddy it's "just a flesh wound".
what is this world coming to? i dropped a boy on a ride and snap is well... not being snap. next thing we know she's gonna start using all the cute smiles. :D
I found out at lunch after the ride today that a guy who has been missing (but not really missed by me, from group rides, because he is so BOSSY) woke up in the ER a few weeks ago, after riding by himself, and has no idea what happened. A lady came out of her driveway, saw him on the road unconscious, and parked her car, blocking him from being run over. His helmet is broken, but no other permanent injuries...Today was his first ride post-crash.
Geez. Well, I take it that since this is his first ride post-crash, he's in physically decent condition, but that is weird. I hope he recovers fully physically and can make a swift psychological recovery, too. That'd be pretty traumatic.
that is weird. hmmm...
btw nanci i love dillbird's little carrier.
I like the carrier Nanci! Dillbird looks very happy :)
Way to go CWR! Very cool!
Snap - are you still giddy?
Our neighbors cut part of our grass today. Is that a bad sign? It wasn't that bad. They mow their grass at least 2x per week. We mow once per week, usually. They said they were out there mowing and wanted to know if we minded if they cut the side yard. Wierd. I dislike suburbia - especially when it's in the middle of nowhere. Nanci, I think you have the right idea where you live.
This was wierd, but not as wierd as the guy Nanci rode with. That has to be so strange for him. I still can't remember falling in my little crash. I can't imagine not remembering the whole thing. Yeesh.
The hunger strike is over. Maizey ate a pre-killed fresh mouse tonight. I left it sitting in its paper bag on top of her viv for five hours first. So she could smell it and get in the mood. I gave her a kiss for eating it.
I wonder about the soldier who carried that pigeon carrier. WWII. Swiss Army. Whose side were they on, anyway?? Over sixty years ago. How strange.
I had a 2.5 hour nap today, in which I dreamed about catching all kinds of cool cornsnakes, until someone's car stereo out on the road woke me up. That's gotta be 500 feet away!! I'm still tired. I did a 35 mile really hilly ride, and raced the last 6 miles. And had sucky spaghetti with oil and tomatoes.
And then, was looking forward to this bottle of Viognier that I'd been saving for a nice day, and it didn't smell the same, and didn't taste the same, and it turned out it was 2005, not the award-winning 2003...
Whoever invented au gratin potatoes was a genius, that's all I can say. Mmm, butter...
Fish, sometimes I cut some of either neighbor's grass if I'm having a good grass-cutting day. I don't think it means anything, other than they want to save you some work. I used to live by a guy that snow-blowed the whole block. And my ex DH would plow everyone's driveway.
Still undecided on the Zero X. I think I will keep it, in the museum of saddles that didn't quite work out. Maybe I will take it to Six Gap, where I plan to ride Three Gaps, based on how much I am hating hills. That will give it a tough 50 mile ride.
Today, while I was riding, I was thinking, you know how there's that rule for move your saddle up if you have X knee pain, and down if you have Y knee pain- there ought to be rules like, if you move your saddle forward, does it make you put more or less weight on your hands? If you tip your saddle up or down, does it put more or less pressure on your sit bones?
The Vitesse, it doesn't seem that picky. I can put her right back on the bike, and ballpark the setting, and I'm good to go. With the experimental saddles, it's like I'm always trying to dial them in, to make them more perfect. Or at least bearable.
Tried the Ben and Jerry's Milkshakes yesterday- Cherry Garcia and Chunky Monkey. Not worth the extra calories, and had a 10:1 carb:proteim ratio. Not a suitable after biking treat. But someone had to do it...Too rich.
I got my motorcycle helmet and gloves today.
Now we get to practice riding two up in the parking lot.

KnottedYet "What soy milk do you use? I can't seem to find one that won't curdle in my coffee. Rice milk works ok, but it doesn't taste so nice."
Nothing fancy, Trader Joes unsweetend Organic, sometimes I go for chocolate or vanilla, never had a problem. What coffee do you use?
The ride today was good I think 50 sumthin miles (my computer did not work).
We started with 6 riders two took a detour, then another left at Walnut Creek and it ended up with 3. We are all about the same pace. What a difference a road bike makes. We stopped at Peets, and at Whole Pacycheck (Whole Foods), nice weather, nice folks, real good food and coffee...
We sang made up country music songs about the gal we saw riding on a flat tire (of all the possible expananations we decided that her GF ditched her for some hussey on a Huffy so she's off to ride said GF's fancy carbon rims and fancy FS mountain bike into dust.
Probably not true but makes a great CW song ;-) She looked very mad and determined so maybe.
nanci very happy to hear that the hunger strike is over. what a relief!
So Maisey won the strike? Hope she was on strike for work peace, or better snake'y pay and benefits.
KnottedYet "Might wanna hold off on the legs and eyes crossed, Trek. That's not gonna help you find the next DPITA...;) Or, it could, but that'd be the wrong kind of DPITA."
I'll keep 'em crossed till I find the right one, how's that? ;)
I'm watching the Emmys, and Barry Manilow beat out Stephen Colbert for best performance in a variety show.
While that's completely asinine, I can't wait to see what he does with that on his show :D
