Well, you both have soulful warm brown eyes...
(but you brush your teeth more often!)
What song is that? I can almost hear it... "looking at the moon"? It's gonna make me nuts. C'mon, hon, sing it so we all know which song it is. (1930's? It's a torch song, innit?)
hmmm. I'm guessing you don't mean this one:
Hey You (Looking At The Moon)
Artist or band: Nash Graham
-----------------------------------------------
Hey you (looking at the moon)
waiting for the stars to give you answers,
eating in your cars and building fences,
is this what we've come to?
Hey you, wailing by the wall,
hoping it'll fall in their direction,
you're waiting for another resurrection
is this what we've come to?
Tell me how come everything appears to be hazy,
there's nothing left to see
Tell me how come everyone appears to be crazy too
Well, maybe it's me there, shaking at the gate
can I bear the weight of all you borrow
you know it never comes, so pay back tomorrow.
How come if it ain't you, this is what we've come to?
Maybe this one though:
I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces all day through
In that small café, the park across the way
The children's carousel, the chestnut trees, the wishing well
I'll be seeing you in every lovely summer's day
In everything that's light and gay
I'll always think of you that way
I'll find you in the mornin' sun
And when the night is new
I'll be looking at the moon
But I'll be seeing you
But it doesn't say anything about "while kissing my dog" ;)
It's the second one, and it's 1944 which of course the old gal remembers, right? ;)
No need to rub it in. I know I'm the older sister, but not THAT old. I'm young enough to be Internet savvy, tho'. "Google and ye shall find; Ask and ye shall be answered."
Personally, I like the version Billie Holliday sang. Of course, I love BH, so I am a bit biased. Yer, right Duck, no dog in there. But there is a tree just in case a dog happens along.... :D
I'll be seeing you

That this heart of mine embraces
All day through.
In that small cafe;
The park across the way;

The wishin' well.

See ya kids! Headin' for a ride and then a hike in the woods with the kiddos. (nieces)
Ride, ride, ride
Hitchin' a ride.....
X.
Darn! My Verizon ( the "Can you hear me yet?" company) crashed just as I was about to delete! Took me forever to get it running again!
I'd better stop playing with the fates on TD.
Not that I was implying Trek is short, oh no, not at all. No, uhm, she's quite tall. Yeah. Tall. Right, Duck?
Oh, cheese, I'm in trouble now....
Happy new year's eve-
To those spending new years' with people they'd rather not (or without the people they'd rather) I think it's becoming apparent that 2007 is a year of growth and change. And in growth and change, there is hope.
I was going to do an entire layout on the astrological changes coming into effect but there are too many details there. And I'm one with my inner slug atm.
Hey! Look over there! What's that?
www.doperssuck.com
(oh cheese, oh cheese, oh cheese)
"keep rowing" Uh, can't row. I'm up this creek without a paddle. :p
I was a little skeered to click on the link based on above conversation. I mean Dopers suck what? But ooh, there's coffee and jerseys and mugs oh my :D Is it the Fair Trade happy shade grown birds whole bean organic picked my happy workers singing Billie Holiday songs kind?
And to quote the lurking Spazzdogs Texas dad who said "height don't make a difference when you're prone, gal". omg, let's see how long Trek leaves this up.
Alright, quit rowing TE TD
Tarot to the rescue! Inner slugs rejoice! Pick a card, any card!
Card: 5 of pentacles (I always cringe when I see this one)
hard times, ill health, rejection
Last Word: Queen of Wands (I like this one)
attractive, wholehearted, energetic, cheerful, self-assured
so those are the cards I got for the last day of 2006. Kinda summarizes the year?
Kit, can your inner slug pull a couple for 2007?
Ooh, thank you ladies for capturing and reposting all the deleted stuff this morning! It's 10:30 and I just got up. That's a rare occurence. Øf course I was awake between 5:00 and 7:30 so no wonder I slept in.
Snap - what do you mean he rides his "Battle Trek" in the winter. Oh wait, he's got an old Trek bike to ride when the weather's bad? PM his name to me, maybe I know him? DH wants me to ride in the snow but I tried it last week and almost fell twice. Not going to go down the big hill on that ice, no way.
Happy New Year CC!
Edit: Where'd I get that cool looking "O" with the line thru it?
Is the Ø from Norway?
Ok, Trek, how'd YOU get it?
How can I comment on how "hoy" you are when I can't spell it properly? (I have no idea what I just said... but gotta love my 25 year old Berlitz dictionary!)
Delete: removed a more than slightly off-color pun on the Norwegian word "lang" and Spazzdog's Texas aphorism.
Ok, Knot, you asked for it-
Death- A major change or transformation, possibly traumatic and unexpected. Freedom from the shackles of the past. A new beginning. Death coupled with rebirth, usually related to consciousness and lifestyle.
Last word- Queen of Swords: The essence of air behaving as water, such as a refreshing mist: A person gifted with both keen logic and natural intuition, giving them uncanny powers of perception and insight. One who easily sees past deception and confusion to the heart of a matter, and understands both sides of any argument. The embodiment of calm, forthrightness, and wit, in the face of even the most trying circumstances.
Well. There you have it.
"Ok, Trek, how'd YOU get it?"
uhm, my sister's Norwegian? Travel?
"How can I comment on how "hoy" you are when I can't spell it properly? (I have no idea what I just said... but gotta love my 25 year old Berlitz dictionary!)"
careful, there are Norwegians on board.
"Delete: removed a more than slightly off-color pun on the Norwegian word "lang" and Spazzdog's Texas aphorism."
Texas/Norwegian puns? Be still my beating heart :p
Æ’â€*®,
I løve playing with the øpâ€*iøn keÂ¥ :º
I do not have tarot cards nor do I know how to read them. Sigh
I convert my keyboard to Norwegian, German, or Russian as needed. Do not need to do it often though, which is good as my computer skills are very limited as is my typing.
I am looking forward to the New Year. Maybe I will learn to type?
ˆ*?˜´?*¥ø¨*?ø¨¬??
?å®?
haha, guess it can't read them all. :)
BMO - why do you ever have a need to convert your keyboard to those other languages??
Delete: more "høy" and "lang" silliness
kit - what you said about 2007 i completely agree.
X - peanut has a big enough nose (and slobber) for a kiss for both of us.
BM3 - we are in the same boat with the typing or spelling. i don't know how they do it.
and of course i miss all the good stuff that got deleted. oh well. hey Knot, can you just IM me everything you write so i don't miss out?
trek glad you made it back ok.
Kit-thanks for reading my tarot for me. :)
X-Do not forget my Dilly Bar from DQ.
KG-I have friends in those places. :D
CWR- My typos can not only be interesting, but at times downright embarassing. :o
DH is switchig our cell phone call plans and providers. Yay! Goodbye Sprint.
BMO - wow and you can write in 3 other languages?!
I just ripped apart my walkin closet apart. Ugh I have too much crap. DH is putting up a new bar. I hate those wire closest systems that builders automatically put up in new houses. You can only drag clothes about a foot because the 'bar' is in segments. Drives me nutso. So we took out the lower shelf system and replaced it with a regular wood dowel. Much simpled. Also bought a bunch of cube-type shelving for one end so my towels etc don't have to sit on the floor in the dog hair. :) Then I bought a big 3X3 cube shelf for the little guy's closet. Dh is so thrilled that I've found all these jobs for him to do over our two-week break. :p
What's everyone doing to celebrate tonight? I'm thinking about cooking a rolled turkey breast because we missed out on the leftovers this year. Has anyone done one? Can you make gravy? Might go visit some friends and play cards of something. God I'm getting old if that sounds fun. :D We have a few nice bottles of wine we've been saving too. And a bottle of late harvest that we bought on our last honeymoon.
Getting off the computer right NOW to make a big pan of baked spiced apples for dessert. We're heading to a friends house where about 10 of us are going to eat REAL homemade Mexican food and play oldtime music until midnight. Cozy!! :p
Happy new year. everyone! :) :)
Oh man, I am so jealous of you. I wish we had some musical friends. DH and I enjoy singing and playing together but it would be so fun to play with a bunch of friends. That's my idea of a perfect new years... Can I come to your house?
I was "playing" my banjo yesterday and thought of you. Haven't picked it up in months. I love it but I pretty much suck. I need to play regularly I guess, duh...
if i make it till midnight i'll be amazed. though doubt if i'll be doing much. maybe a glass of wine on the couch.
I'm going to a friend's house for "stupid movie night" and watch Zoolander, then home to bed. I'll set my alarm for 11:55 so I can call my dear and wake her up and holler "Happy New Year!"
(Apples are in the oven cooking)....
YEAH you can come to our house!! Bring your banjo and I'll teach you how to fake your way through lots of fun music. ;)
If anyone wants to sing Auld Lang Syne tonight- I posted the "easy" (non authentic Scottish) lyrics on the "Does anyone Sing?" thread. And those who are not together tonight- sing over the phone! (Knot, Trek?...) And don't forget to kiss your kitties TOO!!!!! :p
Gotta sign off and get ready to go......bye!! :D :D
CWR- Join us on Y!, we'll have a group newyear's... uh... maybe pacific time, though I'll try for eastern and alaskan, too. :) a few of us are in the same boat this new year's. getting to be a full boat.
BMo3- No kidding on the embarrassing typos. At odd times, I'll attempt to say *grins* but swap a d for the s. So close together. Leads to awkward moments. Yup, I'm happy. ...very, very happy.:o :p
X- hope you had a good time in the woods :) it always helps me find center.
today I'm going to go shovel out the compost pile I'd started on last year, today. Load it up and put it on the raised-bed garden I started, last year, today. tying up loose ends. bringing it all full circle. trying not to be as b!tchy as I want to be today. I know what ruby slippers do, but what if I clicked my docs together? I want out. thank god I'll get out soon enough.
It cannot hurt to click those doc heels together. ;)
hi all you guys! i am having a nice time in Seaside or.
thanks to Snap i got to read the deleted posts, hehehe
we have the smallest room in this motel. it is like a cupboard. hilarious.
i rode another 27 miles today. but have to go now.
will tell you all more shortly.
happy new year!!
Kit, ((((hugs))) I take it you have not moved out? That is soo tough and painful. Hang in there.
Anybody here seen "Children of Men"? It's a violent, sad, frightening, a little bit hopeful film, I liked it a lot. I'm in a kind of emotional zombie state right now. Wow.
Have not seen that movie, Snap - don't think I want to after your description. :(
I make tons of typos. I try hard to catch them before I submit though. I am getting used to spelling have "ahve" and just "jsut".
I jsut rode 10.5 km!!!! On the snow and ice!!! At 27 degreess F!!! This is big for me. I was scared on the really icey bits but got used to it. My face is numb and my toes got cold. I wore my hiking boots which are much warmer than my bike shoes (since I was on regular pedals on my mtbike). I haven't been out on my bike for 6 weeks and I probably won't be out again for another 6 weeks but I just couldn't stand not going for one more ride before 2007. So I managed to do 2775 km this year (my goal was 500k). And I just noticed when I added the ride on bikejournal that it was my 100th ride of the year! Too cool. Glad I did it. :)
Happy New Year everyone!
