Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? 50.9km/hr downhill = WHEEEEEE! :D Usually average 30km/hr on flats and waaaaay slower on climbs. :eek:

Most memorable moment on my bike: I've only had my bike for a month but I'd say the first day I was out there, I was grinning like a foo because I was so happy. And stopping at my first stoplight and getting my feet out smoothly.
Most fun ever had on a bike? Every day, on each ride. Nothing else like it.

Don't you worry none what type of bike ya'll got there HD......my fav bike right now is a 1987 Peugeot that has so far taken me on my first 1/2 century, ,ny first metric century and 3 days ago...my first century. I've got another vintage bike coming and 2 more in CO waiting for me to go get. There's something to be said about them oldies but goodies! ;)

What is the biggest lie you've ever told: pretending to a bike mechanic that i know what he's talking about.
Most memorable moment on my bike: so many. We had a team of 4 women doing the gunnison 24 hour race. My last lap had to be fastest in order to send out one more rider before the final 24 hour. not sure where the energy came from after being awake that long, but i took off and didn't stop. it was the greatest rush to find my team cheering for me at the finish. i managed to make it with enough time to send out one more rider for the final lap.
Most fun ever had on a bike? doing a night ride with 10 of my friends. it was my first one and it was really cool. i would suggest trying it.

welcome to the board sharon. I'm a runner too - most days! :o actually I have 2 hyper dogs, if I don't at least run them I've got to get out and walk them so they can "pretend" they're out in the wilds and don't destroy something in my house! Hope to be hearing more from you soon!

Age: ummm....ouch....um....mid-forties...ouch! (Am in denial! ;) )
Occupation: I am currently an advocate for service animals and their
partners. This includes addressing training issues, fair housing
issues, public access isssues and legislation. I am also... as
"Madison Grrl" puts it: A "canine behaviorist in training." I
am "specializing" in evaluating dogs and teaching tasks, and
evaluating the needs of "partners" or potential partners" of
service dogs.
I have been disabled for a very long time and have trained my
own service animal. (I was an active "clinical psychologist"
prior to disability.)
Favorite Bike: It will always likely be my first very fast one: a 1974 Schwinn
Continental (Metallic Blue) (It was the fastest in my school!)

Biggest lie you've ever told: I truly don't recall any. I, too, am big on
integrity.
Most memorable moment on my bike:
Well... there were many.
One of the most memorable was when I was a teenager and
was following my little sister on a bike. She saw something
on the road and hit her (front) brakes (only) and went end
over end and onto the pavement. She'd sustained a
concussion.
(This was in the pre-helmet era!)
Most fun moment on my bike:
I'd had many fun moments, especially on my "Continental."
She was "fast." The gentle breeze of "flying" through the
streets on that is a sensation I can recall to this day!
Just this past weekend, we took our bikes and our German
Shepherd to a large local park. The park was virtually
empty, as there was a festival in town. We rode around
some, mostly on the grass, as we'd wanted to make it
healthy for the dog's joints. Our dog has never seen us
riding bikes and was quite intrigued! I was shooting some
pics of my husband while he was trying to "master" getting
into and out of his new clipless (eggbeaters) pedals. This
is his first set! (Ouch!)
All of a sudden, we saw hot air balloons rising near the local
fairgrounds. So very beautiful! Then.. they'd proceded to
land all around us! Wow! SUch beutiful balloons!
It was an international balloon fest. We had seen a great
show, although we'd never intentionally attended the
festival! So there we were... on our bikes, with our beloved
dog... in hot air baloon heaven! :D
(BTW,I would not have likely had this exact experience if I
hadn't recently gotten back on a bike, largely due to the
mutual sharing of info. and the encouragement I've seen
members give to one another on this forum.)

Most memorable moment on my bike: Well, as I said before i just started biking. My boyfriend got me into this, he is a good road cyclist, and I thought it would be great to enjoy this sport together. For now i am just trying to have fun with it and get more comfortable with the speed and my bike. So most memorable moment would probably be this past weekend when i did my first 12 miles. Yey
Most fun ever had on a bike? When I learned how to pedal standing, had a blast and was very proud of myself.

My favorite bike for a long time was also a Schwinn Continental...also early 70's vintage... mine was the metallic red. It was actually my brother's, but once he got his driver's license, I sort of claimed it for mine. I put a ton of miles on that thing and never remember any problems with it that I couldn't fix myself. I still get a big smile on my face when I see on of those out on the road.
I'm also a hot air balloon lover. My mom, sister, and I go to a few rallys each year. We've crewed and ridden a few times. Being up there floating around is definitely the most beautiful and peaceful feeling.
Welcome to the board Julie: I crew for 2 hot air balloon pilots here in the heart of Hot Air Balloon country - Albuquerque, NM. I've been crewing for 6 yrs now and I STILL get a thrill getting them in the air. I always end up on throat so I get to watch the balloon inflate from the inside out. Just takes my breath away!
