I finally got the live feed of the finish line to work! So EXCITING!
*Starts pondering if I could be an Ironman someday*
I just can't imagine doing this, what an incredible feat of endurance.
We (Denise's husband, son, cousin, nephew and my kids and I) watched Denise ride around the final parts of the bike course and then we went over to where they drop off bikes and transition to the run. Okay, so she must have been VERY fast getting through there because she was gone before we got there but we didn't know that.... as the clock is ticking and we are all so worried she's gonna miss the cutoff... UGH! As several people got stopped, Terrie (her cousin) calls me and says that Nanci (THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU) just called to confirm that her bike time already posted... you just can't imagine the happiness we all felt!!!:D :D :D Anyway, we did have one of the volunteers double check that her bike was indeed racked...WHEW!!!
Great Event! Her family is still there but I'm back at the hotel waiting for the call that she's at mile 16 on her run so I can go back an cheer for her at the finish!!!
WOW, what a fabulous time this is!!!
Tracy
Don't let them forget to call me when she finishes!!!
Nanci
KSH,
I'm just like you, I started tearing up watching her go through the first transition! Imagine how much I will be blubbering when she finishes!:D
Tracy
What time will she cross the finish line? She is 2 hours behind CST... right?Quote:

She has until 3AM EDST, 2AM CDST, 1AM MDST, 12AM MST.
I am going to bed now. Hopefully I will be wakened by a phone call before 3:00...

I've been thinking about Denise all day - I am in total awe at what she's already done!
Denise - when you read this - you are a truly amazing and courageous woman!
Is anyone still getting video? My screen is black. Did it get dark there, and no lighting, or is it just me???
Yeah, my screen is black, too. Sound, fine. Visual, non-existent. It's an imperfect technology, I'll give 'em that! L.
I want to hang in to at least see her time on the first lap (the 8.6 mile) she should be getting close now.
Looks like her split time for the first 8.6 miles is 2:11:08. Still hanging in there!!!
Go, Go, gO, GO!!!!!!
Edit - OK - I'm confused - it's showing a finish place of 1806, but no 2nd time for the running... Anyone?????
I just saw that! Here's the link to the page where you can track her:

Hope it works. We are pulling for you, Denise!!! L.

Looking at her run pace, she might be walking the marathon? I hope she finishes in 16 hours as she planned.
Here was her projected run time:

Run. Here is the big ???. In training I managed a perfect run/walk combo that came out to 11:30-12:00 minute miles. I should be able to keep that up for at least the first half. My first half should be about 2 hours 40 minutes. Then add on a good few ticks on the last half as I KNOW I'll slow down. This is based on my marathon history. So first 13.1 should be 2:40, last 13.1 around 3 hours.
Here's the result page...

She's listed in place 1849 with "ath" beside her name (and I'm pretty sure it isn't athlete - though she certainly qualifies as that and more:)). Any clue what that means?? I think this page updates a little more regularly than the athlete profile page...
Carrie Anne
It looks like they are estimating finish numbers based on their total time after the 1st lap of the run. I did a search on Women 35-39 and the woman behind Denise is listed as finishing one number after Denise's posted number.
My guess is "Athena" - since the other additions are CLY whihc would be for "Clydesdale." If you're over a certain size you get to compete with the other big shots. Maybe they're grouped separately for splits, too.
It also seemed to take forever for them to post her time. I think she should have finished that first lap before 10:30pm EST, but it didn't post until much later. Don't think I'll be able to hang in for the finish.
GO GIRL!!! We're all cheering for you!
Sue-
Just learned something about triathalons (can anyone tell I haven't done one???  ).
Go Denise, Go!!!
2nd split time for the run is in:
8.73 mi. (2:09:44) 14:51/mile
It's a bit faster than the first one.
I went for a short run tonight and was running with her for a while, hope that helped.
That's a total of about 14h40m so far. I hope she makes it to the end.
What an incredible challenge.
Woke up at 2AM to check- not done yet, but hopefully by 2:30. Video is totally down.
it says at 16:07 "We've been told that there are still approximately 70 athletes left on the course. We are excitedly awaiting their arrival across the finish line..."
I just got up and read the same....no video coverage...go Denise! Go!
Come on home, Denise RunningMommy, You Are An Ironman!!!
Soon, soon....glad to know others are up and "watching", even if we can't exactly watch.
Michael Lovato hangs some medals
How's that for an exciting way to finish the race ... having the champion put your finisher's medal over your head?
Michael Lovato has joined the party at the finish line here for the last hour of the race. 16:06
How's that for cool? (I copied that from the IMAZ website, posted 50 min ago). I hope he hangs Denise's medal on her. She is a champion.
What a great guy to do that!
She's in!!! I talked to her, she sounds great!
I'm going back to bed, gotta be up in two hours!
All right Denise, where's your race report???
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY! Oh, man, talk about your exciting finish!Quote:
