Oh he knows why. He's already had to endure the, "Do my calves look awful? I have the biggest calves on TE!" question several times. Poor guy. ;)

I measured mine a couple of days ago but was to shocked to post the numbers.Quote:

Well since you brought it up Bikerhen... my ManFriend always refers to me as a hen and he says my calves look like drumsticks. This doesn't bother me because they do look like drumsticks and I like it! :DQuote:

I am wondering, if any of you have seen a woman showing both calf muscles? I personally have only seen them on guys...From my understanding it depends on how much body fat you have.
:D
Aww...I just lost my silver....I still have the bronze, though! Or can we do the double gold thing and me keep my silver? Deal? So who has the bronze then? Whew—that will be triple bronze shared by happy~biker, Dianyla, and Sparky. Oh, yes, a mighty forest are we!
Nothing. What did I say? I think it is hilarious in a very practical sort of way.Quote:

I don't know if I trust my tape measure ... it seems like it has shrunk since the days when I had a 26-inch waist.... but it says 16-something on my calves, too.
All I know is, it's a good day when my Frye Campus boots go over these trunks and don't try to scrunch down. When I bought the boots (the most expensive pair of shoes I've ever bought, at $210) a year and a half ago, they were scrunchin', and now they're not. Yay!
Coincidentally, when I showed a pair of cute cycling socks with three-inch cuffs to a sorority-type coworker, she said "Oh, I could never wear socks like those. They would make my legs look like tree trunks." Hmmm. I reevaluated my sock selection, and now only buy the shorter, 1-inch variety. I'm not getting rid of the taller ones, but it's amazing how an anklet-type sock will elongate and offer a wee bit of slimmingness to my oak-like calves.
Trying to attach a rock-climbing photo that tells all...
Long ago I discovered the slimming effects of very short/no-see-um socks. My ankles are very thick, too, so shortie socks really help accentuate the positive.
Nice legs, BTW, CyclaSutra. :)
Okay, I just realized I have a tape measure in this silly little tool kit at my desk. Drumroll... 16 1/4 inches at the large part. So I think I am right up there! (Let's not even start measuring thighs though, okay??)
And even if I had a picture, I still am not technically savvy enough to know how to attach it!!! Oh well. They look good in the modest height heels and skirts I wear to work, and DH agrees, so that's good! (Of course, DH has these HUGE calves with amazing muscle definition. Fun to ride behind! I have enough muscle definition in mine, and its funny because the kid is starting to develop her own little calf-muscle bubble just like her parents! I gotta get her riding more, though!)
I had a heck of a time finding boots until a year or two ago when I got a great pair of Sudinis - they fit perfectly, and I have never been able to find boots that fit my calves. Of course, I also have size 11 feet, so they tend to cut them a bit bigger than for those of you with normal sized feet!
Boy am I glad to read that others have described their legs as tree trunks. I would always joke with my BF that I have cankles... calves that just run straight to my feet, no ankles. I'm 5'0 and have 16" calves. I've never been able to buy nice boots because my calves are just too big! They definitely help with biking and hiking up hills! :D
LOL!!! You TE gals are hilarious! :D
I must say that CyclaSutra's pic is very impressive...geesh, you sure you didn't get that out of a magazine? ;)
Now I need some help cuz I have lost track of who gets the medals...
OH Dianyla..can you be of some assistance here? OR when I get mine posted?
Only 2 days to go! AND yes...the shortie socks are my favorite!
:D

I love this thread! :p
:o
The pic is so fancy because I work at a newspaper and the photo intern shadowed me during a rock climbing clinic.
Frankly, scanning through my iPhoto collection, I was embarrased that I have so _few_ photos of my legs!
I think we MUST get together pre-LRRH or at the rest stops and have the men in grass skirts take some group leg shots of us! :D
Rember that shot in "Bicycling" mag a few years ago that had a black background and a bunch of cyclists in black shorts lying on their backs with their legs pointed in a circle? Cyclelicious.
Bless you bluedress!!!...We are a mighty forest! No wonder that pic was so good CycleSutra...love those other ideas for shots too. Though you might enjoy this whilst you wait so patiently for mine.;)

Very entertaining, ladies! I actually went and measured and...I don't even rate. Time for more calf raises! :p
That's because you're part of the small and perky group. But we love you anyway. :D

Hope they are worth the wait... Thanks to all of you I am no longer
embarrassed. Cheers to the TE Mighty Forest!!! :D

Honey, those are BEAUTIFUL legs! Be PROUD! :D --Marca
Wow, awesome definition! Rock on woman!
Thank you for the mighty kind replies...;)
Now is there any way that I can delete my old tree trunk post w/ pic?
:D
