If you have to move, San Fran is THE place to go. It's our only vacation destination. Even bought membership to Asian Museum. Transit system is great (and I've been married to my car for 40 years), weather, architecture, it's all great. The only place I know that you should not venture is "the tenderloin" which is a district in the middle of San Fran. I'm sure you're in great hands with our northern California sisters!
Are you, perchance, a graduate student? If yes, sometimes you can get a graduate assistantship that will automatically pay out of state tuition AND give you a break on in-state tuition, health insurance, etc. You'd need to check into that pretty quick because grad application deadlines tend to be longer (at least in AZ.) Failing that, I'd definitely look into some scholarships, especially if you're majoring in math, science, etc. At Univ of AZ, we often have scholarships that pay out-of-state tuition. If the above is "no", check with the registrar and find out what constitutes being a resident for one year. Often, just working for one year will suffice (save your paystubs.)
If I can think of some creative way to get around the system, I'll let you know.
Good Luck on your new adventure...I lived in the area for years (that was 10 years ago) I was young single and LOVING it!!!! Sounds like you have quite the welcoming commitee! If there were a big city to live in that would be it...(I am partial to the smaller ones)
Love watching your transition take place...what an adventure to a new phase...
Sounds like TE needs to give you a swift kick to the something or other. Your life may be set back but it is not crushed. You will rise again just as the sun does. You have a new adventure ahead of you, which most are probably envious of. You are making a bold move. You are demonstrating courage in moving on and possibly moving away from things/people/places that may be unhealthy to you. And you have another benchmark of what you don't want in life or what to avoid. Get happy! Trust me, people are not worth giving up one day of your life to depression. They are worth a lot but not that much! I'd say you have a lot to be happy about. :)Quote:

Hey, all the best spazz. I'd totally help you unload for a margarita if I were in the area.
pkq... consider me kicked
I have a few bad moments now and then, and fortunately (or not) TE is my support system. I have no friends here who aren't my ex's and they are staying far away to remain "neutral".
So please excuse any downslide I may exihibit; it's a process. I'm sure I'll get back to my wacko, charming self after settling in out in sunny (drippy??) California.
Then the work begins... healing and TE getting to kick my scrawny butt into cycling shape. Just be gentle :o

spazz, I completely understand. If I was too harsh, I apologize. I certainly wish you all the best and hope everything gets back on track real soon.
spazzdog, as I can personally attest that time....and your bike wounds all heels uh, I mean heals all wounds. Yeah that sucks, when break-ups happen seems that people "pick sides" of one party or the other.
Living well is the best revenge.
So c'mon down y'all and....would you please stop doing the rain dance? enough already.
pkq - no worries!
trek420 - I ain't the one dancin'... I hate constant rain.
packing, packing... lemme here a TE harmony; PACKINNNNNG!
Why does TE harmony sound like chains on sprockets?
Spazz, you hang in there girl and take all the time you need to heal. One of the best things about this forum is the fact you can bring anything here and nobody screams "OFF TOPIC!" Lord knows - there isn't much we haven't discussed here!
Dogmama observes "Lord knows - there isn't much we haven't discussed here!"
I don't think we've talked about astrology yet...or the importance of art in our schools....or the role of mutual funds in investing for retirement....but that's about it
:)
even tho we only met once, nyc will miss you. You will feel better some day, maybe not today or tomorrow, but some day.

Hey all... for those of you who may have bookmarked my website, you'll need to update the URL. I moved it off of Comcast onto a different host (since with my move, I'll lose the Comcast acct).
Just go into your favorites, right click on the bookmark for my site, choose properties and replace whatever you currently have with http://www.spazzdog.com in the target URL spot.
have a good day y'all!

Spazz, though I'm sorry about what's going on on the east coast, I think it's great you're moving to the left :)
One thing you probably want to do is make sure you get insurance on your u-haul rental. Ultimately it isn't much, but it will save your bacon (and wallet) if something happens on the road. I had an ex-bf who moved to the right coast during winter and hit ice in colorado. He totalled the truck and since he didn't get insurance, it meant he ended up having to pay for it. :/
Since you're moving during the cold months, I think it would be a Good Thing(tm) to get. :)
See ya soon... well, assuming work hasn't got me kept locked in doors :/
Mel
Thxs for the suggestion Mel... but no worries. I've decided against the epic "Grrl and Her Dog Cross America".
I hired a mover :D
They drive, I unload at the end. Please feel free to attend the "Spazz Hits Town Truck Unloading Party" to be held soon in neighborhood somewhere on the west coast.
See you soon!
If I can make it, I'm there, but I can't promise anything. Work schedule is insane. *sigh*Quote:

Thanks bikerz for restaraunt reviews. So far we decided on a place in Oakland called "Compadres" - used to be called Cantina, on Park Blvd between 580 and 13 - they have a lot of different tequilas, and the food is pretty good too (for a chain),nothing spectacular but not too crowded.
Spazz arrives at 7:59 pm, then allow time for luggage etc. PM me if you want me to call and tell you when we'll be heading for Compadres, compadres.
I saw that. :D I don't know, however, what my oncall schedule is like for the next few weeks. Hopefully, I'll find out tomorrow. However, I believe that I probably can't make it. I won't have a vehicle at night and that day I'll probably be doing various test rides of some new bikes. Right now, a Lightspeed Firenze is at the top of the list. :p  Especially since it's the only bike of the various ones I'm looking at that I've gotten a chance to ride.... and oh what a sweeeeeeeeeet ride.Quote:

I showed up too many times last year slightly hung over :o -think that's why they changed 'em to Sunday - so snap can get her partying out on Friday and recover by ride day....;)
