Do you hide your chocolate?

Oh dear, I wrote too quickly... Chocolate confection such as truffles, and paves have a shelf life of about two weeks if it doesn't have preservatives. Chocolate without any infusion or made into ganach will last 6 month or more.

Lindt, Gadiva have preservatives so they will last a lot longer than 2 weeks

My bf and I went to Switzerland in 2001 and we each brought back bars of Toblerone chocolates that sat in our fridges ever since.

Last September, a very dear friend of mine passed away. After she died, we were hanging out at her house, we discovered two bottles of amazing champagne that she had been saving for a special occasion. We drank the champagne at her memorial.

My bf and I have both finished, bit by bit, our Toblerone chocolate bars.

I usually only have a stash of super dark chocolate in my desk at work, where I tend to need the "hard stuff." :D

I probably should keep a stash at home, though, because there have been several regrettable times where I've had to dip into the chocolate chips :p. DH leaves the sweets alone (he's so weird!) so no need to hide them from him...I think he knows I need it more than he does! ;)

Anyone on the west coast seen Cowgirl Chocolates? Bought a small bar once while visiting Eureka, CA. Dark chocolate with ceyenne pepper. Chocolate with a bite.... I haven't seen anything of the sort in my local chocolatier - they have chocolates from all over as well as making their own. Of course I could talk to them about creating something....:rolleyes:

Have a stash of chocolate covered espresso beans at the office. Took some to a meeting once. The local sponsor (big wig) was sitting across from me, and wanted to try one. Made a funny face and muttered about not liking them very much. Half an hour later, he's begging like a dog. He wound up buying me a small bag to make up for what he ate.

I've heard of Cowgirl Chocolate, but I've never tried it.

Currently I have a small package of Scharffen-Berger 70% tasting squares. I'm quite proud of myself, I'm only eating 1 a day. :p
