Anna Nicole Smith is dead

I agree with the previous statements and add a little as well...
I look up to my mother and grandmother, who both had worked hard to get respect in fields dominated mostly (but not fully) by men as well as working against other adversities. Knowing all the hard work the women in this country have done to achieve respect as humans, business people, intelligent people, mothers, with the ability to care and work hard, it's hard for me to grasp the media's portrayal of women as sex symbols and that alone. This also goes along another communities that have reversed into what they fought against.
Ok, off my soapbox (for now at least)

Nearly my entire childhood and teen years I was called FAT. I hated valentine's day as a child as I got all the UGLY valentines with hippos, elephants etc. I had it pushed in my face if a new person started to befriend me that if they wanted to be able to be friends with the "IN" crowd they wouldn't talk to me.
I was put on diets from a very EARLY age and while I was chunky in 3rd and 4th grade, being called fat all the time, only made me want to eat more for comfort. I'm waiting to make that dress into a JERSEY and carry the photo with myself when I ride to remind myself where I DON'T want to go again! I also show it to people to show it CAN be done WITHOUT fad diets, pills or surgery...

Fantastic photos Mary! I really like the idea of making the dress into a jersey as a reminder. :cool: You are a lovely woman and you have done splendidly. Congratulations on chosing to do so without fad diets, suppliments, and pills. :) I too lost a lot of fat without the aid of fad diest or pills. I used common sense and exercise. To this day, I still eat the same way. My lifestyle changed and with it my body and mindset changed as well. Through it all I was fortunate enough to have a supportive family who loved me unconditionally at all my sizes. :)

I rarely watch US tv shows, as most the women on them seriously need to be fed something nutritious. :( I do not know when seeing all the bones in a woman's body became "sexy", but I am glad I do not qualify. :) I am healthy, curvy mom and wife who finally learned to accept her body.

Again, congratulations!!!!! You are an inspiration! :D

Thanks bikingmom, I have gone the route of fad diets, pills etc and it always comes back and then some.. :( :mad: I didn't lose any new weight last year before being injured again, but I wasn't getting my cross training exercise of walking a couple miles a day with my grandson as I had before. I'm hoping by the time I get my back healed etc and then have the plantar fasciatis taken care of, the boys have a wagon I can pull them in and we can do the daily walks again.

You will get plenty of time to pull your grandchildren as soon as your back is taken care of. :) I am sorry it is taking so long for you to be attended to, it must be quite frustrating. :( You truly are an inspiration! Some day I hope to be able to ride as far as you do. :) Oh, when you do make that jersey, please post a picture of it. I saved nothing from my heavy days. Now I wish I would have saved something.

What surprises me is how people I *thought* were friends assumed my personality changed when I went from a 98 pound young lady (I know-gross-worst part I thought I was fat :o ) to a 215 pound mom. Suddenly I was treated differently by those who I thought *knew* me. I am back in size 6s again and have no desire to go any lower. Now I get "it is nice to have the "old" you back". What? :confused: *I* never went anywhere. The only thing that changed was my outward apperance. I just shake my head a pray I am teaching my boys to value others for who they are not what they look like.

I was waiting over a month to get in for gallbladder surgery and was terribly ill, dropping loads of weight, my skin was grey, my hair limp, my eyes looked hollowed...my co-workers would exclaim almost daily "wow, you've lost so much weight you look FANTASTIC". :rolleyes:

I faced the 'fat' problem but at a very young age. I was pretty overweight, wearing a size 14 at 7 years old but I was happy. I went to a very small school and it was pretty tolerable when it came to getting picked on. It was getting into high school where the self-image dropped from being picked on by a lot of other kids. Well, I didn't handle the weight issue well and lost 50 lbs by practically not eating and overexercising in one summer (too much weight looking back on it). I came back, tired, looking pretty ragged and all people could comment on was how I looked so great and lost so much weight while all I thought was about how hungry and tired and crappy I felt ontop of the negative self-image that didn't disappear with the lbs.
Of course, now Im at a much healthier weight and I eat well of course:rolleyes: and exercise appropriately and I feel so much better along with a much better self-esteem but its taken a lot of time and some help to go along with it.

They said today 3/26/07 that she died of an accidental overdose. I still feel bad for har daughter- no one who's she is except Anna's

She and her son both accidentally overdosed on antidepressants?

The authorities are saying there was no foul play in Anna Nicole's death. It was accidental.

Yes, but with that many drugs in her, and her known proclivity for abusing even prescription medication, how hard would it have been to have slipped her just enough of something for 'self-medicating' that would push her body to overload? Not to mention that it took way too long to get her proper medical attention.

Sad statistic, but still, the daughter will always face that image of her mother's sad life.

I have to wonder why her doctor prescribed all these medications since she had a history of abusing them. The sleeping medication she used could be lethal in combination with some of the other drugs she had been prescribed.

Her life was a mess, poor woman.

scary thing is it is super easy to get meds online or in mexico. her doctor didn't need to write an Rx for them.
