I was a total wanker today :( Went about a mile and the heat was just to much...it's not that it was that hot, it's just been here for so long...so I went back in the air conditioning and drank some lemonade.

Finally got to ride with our "Waverdancer" today. She called me while I was sleeping to say she was heading down to woods hole from sandwich (the opposite of my usual long ride), so hubby and I got out of bed to find beautiful sunshine and road out to meet her and ride her in. It was great to finally meet! I only got 30 mile in, but it was a nice recovery ride from my 65 yesterday. Georgeous weather in New England right now.
40 minutes of single track on my home trails after work. Sweaty fun, and I can tell I am getting better at finding the proper line. But it's huffy-puffy work to be sure! Still fun, and tomorrow I finally get to pick up my new mountain bike (full suspension and lighter), which will hopefully make things a bit easier! :D

Lisa -- something I learned about hills yesterday: If I stop when I feel very winded, so I can catch my breath, I can up-shift a gear or two for a ways on the next stretch. This gives me more "room" to go up the next stretch, and if nothing else, it tricks my mind! I'm still barely moving on the hill, but I feel like I can go farther if I've got a gear or two to downshift into!Quote:

Did the commute and a club ride and the combo came out to 44 miles, according to Googlemaps, and I don't feel anything like last THursday's 46 (where I was pooped after 35 or so). HEre's to air in the tires and temps below 85 degrees!
Had to have a reality check and spend time Sunday washing dishes instead of going out and trying to pass that next person in the ranks of BikeJournal - which was good, because I was only briefly tempted not to take the shortcut home for the sake of a few extra miles that I really didn't have time for. (So I have a few minutes to do this... hmmm.... better go tackle the laundry...)
I out-wanked Dobie. Was out enjoying a late weekend 'til 4:30, and had to sleep until 1. After 1 it was just too hot to bike- breathing felt like being in a sauna... driving to work I almost felt my eyes melting. (no a/c in the car)Quote:

congratulations - don't overdo and keep it up!
A little warm here to day - low 90's (I thought I was going to send everyone cooler temps not you send us warmer)
Had some errands in the valley so took the bike instead of the car. One stop was at the LBS to look for a helmet mirror. Bought a new helmet :p and the mirror, then didn't have room to carry the old helmet so left it there.
Rode back later to pick up old helmet and get a handle on how mirror is supposed to work, left and rode home only to realize I left my cell phone on the counter :o
Rode back again :p
put mirror on helmet and rode up and down a dead end street adjusting it
Called friend to see how it is supposed to be - she assured me I do have to close my right eye to see clearly. Whew
