i actually saw the stem recall on a poster at the bike store... but did a quick look at specialized's site... and found this
In conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Specialized has issued a voluntary recall on the S-Works Carbon bicycle stem with Magnesium Faceplate. The stem appeared as original equipment on the following 2006 model year bicycles:
Allez Pro
Roubaix Pro
S-Works Roubaix
S-Works Tarmac
Tarmac Pro
S-Works Transition
The magnesium faceplace may crack or break, causing the rider to lose control, fall and suffer injuries.
